Hello everyone me and the family are going to DW the on september 3-10, i heard the crowds might be heavy that week because of labor day and free dining...did anyone go that time last year and what was it like.

Thanks

We'll be there September 4-10th! I'd like to know how crowded it was last year also!!

And....were the love bugs bad during this time last year??

Either way, whether it's crowded or whether we're sharing the world with the love bugs, we'll still be having a blast!!:tiptoe:

Thats when I was there last year. It was busy during the weekend, but after the Monday holiday crowds were nonexistant.

We've been going in September for the last two years (although not around the holiday) and the crowds are almost nonexistent. I have a video of Fantasyland and there are literally about 5 people in the shot. Crazy. I cannot speak about Labor Day, although I imagine that particular day is crowded, but after that you should have a nice visit.

And oh yeah, the bugs are B-A-D. :scared1:

I was there Labor Day week last year, and there was NOBODY there!! Monday of Labor Day was a little busy, but the rest of the week was empty!!! We never had a line for anything. Rode the Buzz ride 5 times in a row (DS fav).. SSSSHHHHHH don't tell anyone, we want it to stay empty then!! LOL

Now I know this was a while ago but...in 1997 DH and I were there on our Disneymoon and although Labor Day was the week before we were down it wasn't crowded one bit!!! It was perfect. Then in 2001 we were down the end of September and again we walked on to every ride with pretty much no waiting!! It was great. Last time we were down in 2005 I had the bright idea of going in May....how ridiculous was I??? Never again!!!! We are headed down the 1st through the 12th....so I'm crossing my fingers that once we get through Labor Day weekend we'll be enjoying short waits and little crowds!!! I have no idea what love bugs are but I guess we'll have to prepare ourselves for the little creatures!!!

Love bugs are little black flying insects that come out in droves in May & September in Florida. They tend to like to "hook on" to each other and mate, thus the name, "love bugs". They are completely harmless and do not bite or sting. They don't even fly towards you like a fly or bee would. But it is very easy to run into them, because there are so many of them. They were a nuisance at times, but really mostly when we were by the pool at our resort, and they wouldn't prevent us from going back to WDW in September in the future.

As for crowds, it is very un crowded and great time of year to go. The free dining doesn't really affect the crowds at the parks that much, except for the restaurants. It will be very difficult to get into most if not all restaurants, so ADRs are an absolute must. I'm sure quite a few may already be booked up. So do that soon!

Love bugs are annoying. They don't bite but for the few days they are out, they are everywhere especially around the resorts.

We usually go every labor day and it's a great time. The days right after the holiday are the best, hardly any crowds.

I always check the park hours on the WDW website calendar. If the parks are open later than usual (or the hours suddenly change), I figure they are expecting larger crowds and gear up for it mentally. Not very scientific -- but this method works for me!

thanks to everyone on the info lets just hope after labor day it's clears out and thanks Brian i made my ADR's 3 months ago and you are right everything is almost booked....the love bug i can handle i lived in Louisiana for 4 years i got used to them.

Thanks for the info guys. We arrive on Labor Day and leave the following Monday so we hope to avoid the most of the Labor Day crowds. And yes it was very hard to get ADR for dinner but I got some for lunch and breakfast and was able to get everything I wanted.

i went last year, and it was almsot completly empty! we practically walked on each ride, but that might've just been last year. I have also been hearing this year is going to be much more crowded :scared1:

Don't forget that the NIght of Joy is going to be going on while you are there. I know it is a crowded event, so it will bring crowds. We went that week last year. It was great but we noticed a big difference that Friday. I don't know how the weekend was because we left that day.

During the week after Labor Day wasn't crowded at all. We got to ride Mission Space twice (they did have us get off though..) without a wait in between.... My friend was going to "marathon" it but after that second time, he staggered off like he was drunk.... :rotfl2:
