The guidebooks all say that the least crowded time is between Thanksgiving and Christmas. How close to Christmas can you go an still be in the least crowded time?
Anytime between the Wednesday following Thanksgiving Weekend to the weekend before Christmas is absolute Disney Nirvana. Thanksgiving weekend itself is packed so avoid that if you can. Crowds go down each day from the Monday after Thanksgiving on out reaching low normal December levels by the middle of that week. Best time of the year....well September is pretty awesome too crowd-wise, but with the packages offered this year I'm a little skeptical.
Having gone twice during this time, I would agree. The crowds build steadily by Christmas Day. Christmas Eve was not too bad 2 years ago, but after that date--look out!!! The week before is not too bad, but not what I would consider low crowds either. Too many schools are out the week before Christmas, so it is a bit more crowded.
Most likely Sunday the 11th through that Thursday the 15th, should be really low crowds and no Pop Warner kids! We did a similar week in 2003 and it was all easy until we got to Friday....then it was wall to wall people. Maggie
