Crowds at MK on Sundays & Mondays

When Mondays were EE days at MK, it was very crowded then, and Sundays weren't too bad. Now that Sunday is the EMH day for MK, how are crowds at MK on Sundays and on Mondays?

Being from the Central Time Zone, we don't do EMH because it would mean getting up EARLIER on vacation than we do for work, and we just don't handle that very well :p ! So we are wondering whether we should go to MK on Sunday or Monday, OR even wait until Tuesday. (We arrive Saturday afternoon, March 8, and DD plans to spend as much time as possible checking out the new TOT scenarios at the Studios!)

We used to go to MK on Sundays and found it great (especially until around noon). I've always heard that Monday is a busy day because most people head there on their first full day (which is usually Monday, after travelling on weekends).

I would expect that Sundays are now busy with EMH so we plan to make Tuesday our 1st day at MK. The Unofficial Guide says Fridays & Wednesdays are now the best days to tour MK but I don't know if that's true...these books are often out-of-date before they hit the shelves.

Good luck with your planning.

Hi CarolynFH,

I believe the Unofficial Guide's advice is still correct: Friday is probably still your best bet for the Magic Kingdom, followed by Wednesday, assuming you don't want to do EMH. As DisneyLisa notes, the return of early entry threw off the recommendation of Sunday in the 2003 edition of the Guide. We'll correct it in the upcoming edition. Drop me a line if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,

Len Testa

[Edit: Meant to say Wednesday, not Sunday. Must sleep more.]

We always found Mondays crowded at MK..we arrive monday so will be hitting the MK on tuesday this year...:D

Was just there, did MK on Sunday 2/23 (early entry day). The crowds were awful. 60-90 minute waits. I know it gets worse in summer, but I guess we were expecting less crowds right now. I didn't have this probelm at other parks at all (I skipped ee parks after that). We went back to MK on Friday and it was much better. It rained, so that also probably thinned the crowd. But we were walking on just about everything. I'd go for a non-ee day and enjoy!

Len: Glad to read your post...I wasn't sure if it the 2003 Guide was accurate anymore since EMH has come back. The first year we went to WDW after reading the guide (2000) we followed it to a "T" and it was fabulous. Now it's so hard to know what to do about days as Disney keeps changing what they "do" & "do not" offer and the book can't keep up.

If you say Fridays & Wednesdays are still the best days for MK I'm going to adjust my touring plan and go on those days, instead of Tuesday & Friday. The only problem I forsee is that Spectromagic is usually only offered on Saturdays in October & the book says to avoid MK on Saturdays at any cost. Guess we'll have to head over & find a spot about 3 hours early for a good view. I can't imagine how crowded it must be if the parade is only offered once a week. We've always gone in the summer when the parade is every night & we can hardly believe the crowds.
