Crowd Was Huge Today

Hubby phoned in his report from DHS. He said it's quite packed, with high wait times (for example, an hour for Rockin' Roller Coaster), but that the Osborne lights area was dead. Made me wish I had gone along. He and our neighbor headed over to MK to see the ice castle one more time so I'll post how it was over there when he gets back.

Sometimes I wonder that same question. I guess if you're born and raised here you become climatized to it. You get used to it. We almost died of heat exhaustion in California August of 2008...it was WAY TO HOT!!!!

You Canadians are RUGGED! I live in Central Ohio, and it does get very cold, snowy, icy here. But -29 F? I remember that here about 15-20 years ago, and I was literally CRYING by the time I got my car battery jump started. It's literally painful.

You guys are TOUGH! Most people could NOT handle that!

i was at DAK this morning & thought it was great! walked onto everest first thing, then walked directly onto dino, hit the shows (nemo & LK) which were at least 1/2 empty....then left for some lunch outside the parks.

also went over to DHS for the block party bash - got great spots, then went over to ToT....the sign said 60 minute wait - i doubt we waited 20. (we asked the bellhop before we even got in line & he assured us it was not a 60 min wait). of course TSM was ridiculous...still 90 minutes.

if we would have bothered with fast passes, i'm sure we could have gotten a lot more done...overall, i'd say it was a good day to go!

Another Northerner joining in to say how much I wish I were that close...

We call Central Wisconsin home and spent last evening riding on ice/snow/sleet (and I'm not sure what else) covered roads enroute home from my son's hockey game in Green Bay. What normally takes 1hr 15min was a 2 1/2 hour nightmare at top speeds of 35-40mph. Most of the time you could barely see the white lines and we saw many vehicles in the ditch. Interestingly my 8 year brought along the Disney planning DVD to watch and as it played I kept asking myself (again!) "Why do we live here?". Hmm, would I trade freezing cold weather, ice covered roads desperately in need of a county salt truck for backed up traffic on I-4?...

Our next trip (March 18th) can't come soon enough!:cloud9:

In the meantime, I will live vicariously through anyone lucky enough to call FL home...or others currently visiting!!:thumbsup2

Hubby said that after the fireworks MK emptied out so they saw the castle with virtually no crowd. We're going to Epcot to meet friends for dinner at Canada tonight so it will be interesting to see if the crowd died down.

Hey there,

since you are a kindred Bolt fan, if you happen around DHS in the next couple of weeks can you check if he is still around? we will be at DHS on Jan. 21, hoping Bolt and the gang are still there!!!

The trick is the marathon weekend.....if you can get on site before the race starts....you will have 6 incredible hours, 4 good hours and 4 packed hours. We always come during the marathon, and don't run.

There is also a half marathon on saturday...

Will do! I got my Mittens doll for Christmas, so we plan to head over to DHS within the next week to get more pics. I'll be sure to post, but I think they should still be there when you arrive. Judging by the line, they are VERY popular. You'll love 'em...they clown around a lot and spend some time with each party.

Guest-expert, I think I might give that a try. Even if I just get a ride or two on my favorites, it will be worth it.

Got a text today from college DS and friends. Said they just road Soarin, Test Track and Mission Space, all with a 10 minute or less wait.

Karen

MK was pretty empty on Sunday, we were there until around 2. at 11am Princesses were only a 30 minute wait and Faries 60. (A lot shorter then the same time on 12/30)

Wow, they must have been at a different Epcot then we were at earlier today :lmao: Future World was nuts but the World Showcase wasn't bad at all, normal crowds for January I would say.

I'm waiting for DH to wake up from his afternoon nap before we head over to MK for dinner in a few minutes - I just came online to see why the crowds are so intense this week. We arrived yesterday and only went to DTD last night, I couldn't believe how crowded it was! I have never seen that many people at DTD before :scared1:

I'm hoping the crowds die down soon

I am not sure what time they were there. They are pretty "Disney savvy" so they may have went at the rope drop and grabbed fast passes. The time on the text was 10:33 am so maybe they learned something from us on all of our trips!! I think they are going to MGM/DHS tomorrow. I know they have dinner reservations for Prime Time tomorrow.

I am guessing they are "playing their cards right" by getting there at opening and grabbing fast passes. At least they learned something from their parents! ;) ;)

According to our DSs (2 college DSs and a roommate) it doesn't seem like the crowds aren't too bad. They were at MK yesterday and had dinner reservations at Tony's just as the Spectromagic parade went by. They had a table right on the porch and watched the parade from their table!!! They called home and I could hear the parade. I was whining because we never got a table like that!! ;) ;)

Well taught Disney kids, Karen, great seats, Tony's and Spectro!!!! :thumbsup2 Sounds like they are having a ball.

i do think the key here is getting there early....maybe that was the difference in my exp @ DAK on Sunday and the OP's.....
