Crowd Was Huge Today

I thought today (Sun.) would be a good day to get a Disney fix because i figured all the holiday people would be on their way home and the marathon people wouldn't be arriving yet. Ha! Went to AK, and the wait on Primeval Whirl was 65 mins. and I think Dino and the safari were 45. FPs had run out for safari already, so we ended up just doing singles line on Everest and bailing. Even the singles line was crazy, but it was moving fast because they were doing a great job with loading. People were elbow to elbow in the walking areas. I was hoping to go back on Tues. but I don't think I'm going to bother till later in the month.

Yep, we're lucky enough to live literally next door to the parks (Celebration). I sure wish I could send some FL sunshine your way, as I'm originally from Chicago and know what those rough winters are like! Even though we only did one ride, it was nice to be outdoors walking around. Hubby and our neighbor headed over DHS to see the Osborne lights one last time, so it will be interesting to hear if the crowd is as bad over there.

We were at MK this morning until about 11:00 am and it was pretty empty...then we went over to DTD and that also was nice and less crowded than the last 2 weeks..

I just came home from the Mk and downtown disney. The MK was busy andd dtd was very busy. I , too thought there would be less crowds. I am thinking crowd level will be down by Tues becasue the Mk closes at 8 and ak at 5. I may go tuesday again. I had lunch at around 12:30 at Cosmic rays and the place was jammed.

Epcot was busy as well, had a friend who is a Tampa resident over there today. She thought the crowds would have thinned out by now, but they didn't. And Tourist season is down due to the economy? Nope, don't think so.

Busy for me too today; got to MK about 11 AM (I know, I know, NOT a good idea!) Wait for Peter Pan was 45 min; HM was solid 30. But I walked into LTT for lunch! But much better still than Saturday, when I left at 11 AM it was getting so crowded. That's what Epcot is for!

Epcot was busy as well, had a friend who is a Tampa resident over there today. She thought the crowds would have thinned out by now, but they didn't. And Tourist season is down due to the economy? Nope, don't think so.

Give it to this week and it will die down. We thought everyone was leaving last Friday morning Jan 2nd because we were stuck on I4 by exit 64 for a 1/2 hour becuase there were hundreds of cars merging to get on. It looked like all rentals heading for the airport or just people heading home. I am going to EPCOT Thurs so I guess I will see how the crowds are then.

I think BUSY is relative to what your experiences have been. I have been down there during the busiest seasons but now we typically go in Feb. So to me it is never that busy. I think when someone says it was so crowded or it was not crowded is based on what they have experienced.

For example. We have been down to Disney in Feb 06, 07, 08. In 08 it was busier than 06 and 07 by far. But it was no where near as busy as Spring Break or some of the other holidays. If I had not been down there when it was so busy I would think that Feb 08 was packed.

Lunch at Cosmics Rays is Almost ALways Packed even on a Slow day. if you go there later in the day ssay around 4 or 5 its Less Crowded. ive found

and as far as crowds go.. Keep in mind its Still the Weekend . and the Locals are still out there today. all the Little Kiddies go back to school tomorrow so i would think the Crowds should go down Signifigantly In the Next 2 days

I am so stinkin' jealous! I'm having some hurdles in my life right now, and DH says my therapist is a rodent with really big ears.... Wish I was close enough to take a quick drive there, but I'm about 16 hours away. I do have an active AP, though. Can't I come visit???? Please keep posting about how the parks are, how long the waits, etc, as it makes me feel almost there.

My college DSs are there with a roommate (it was their Christmas gift). I talked to them around 2 this afternoon. They said they walked on everything with no waits at the MK! However, we usually travel at Thanksgiving, Christmas or the summer when it is very crowded. They did have to rub it in on how hot they were .

This is really funny. We were at Epcot this morning and I didn't think it was busy at all. At least no were near what it could have been for a holiday weekend. I suspect most of the holiday crowds are already on their way back home.

Thanks for posting all the crowd updates everyone....I will be very curious to see what the crowd level is like going through this week. I will be their with my wife Friday afternoon for 8 days. I also am jealous of people living in Florida, I've attached a picture to show you what the highway was like here yesterday...by the way the temperature here this morning was (-34C or -29 F)

I was at AK today too! Shoot, we could have had a "Dis meet", lol! I agree about the crowds -I knew all the holiday crowds wouldn't be gone, but it was far more crowded than I expected it to be. Walking in some areas was downright difficult, and Camp Minnie-Mickey was more of a zoo than usual.

Wait times were high for everything, except of course "ITTAB", which seems to always have a 5 minute wait when I'm there.

Sometimes I wonder that same question. I guess if you're born and raised here you become climatized to it. You get used to it. We almost died of heat exhaustion in California August of 2008...it was WAY TO HOT!!!!

We must have just missed the rush-we were at Cosmic Rays a little before 12 today. The cashier was actually standing in front of her register waiting for customers. The fairies line at 12:15 was 45 minutes. We saw the parade on the curb on Mainstreet (which is RARE for us) And hung around waiting for the castle lighting.
