Crowd Outlook

i love countdown to extinction, but that area does not fit into any of Disneys parks from its inception and i won't be sad to see it go
the dinosaur ride? everything i have heard is that's staying...or am i wrong?

id really hate to see that one go.

i hope you're right, that was the first "thrill" ride I was brave enough to do. Probably the worst decision i could have made at 8, but i was hooked after

Also, the construction industry had imploded. Materials got very expensive and very hard to obtain.
This is one of the issues I think befell Tron. On top of the tests for the support beams sinking that caused a delay in construction before the pandemic and required them to shore up the foundations and diverting water away from the Tron site it sat ready to have those PFTE panels installed for months.

Anecdotally it’s not any better yet in the construction industry. I’m getting a year plus lead time quotes on electrical components for equipment.

was very sad to see PW go... i always felt like that whole asphalt area of Dinoland never really meshed with the rest of the AK park. And poor Dinosaur has seen some better days.

I am one of thos efew who actually "gets" Dinoland USA, but it always needed something else. Even Primeval Whirl, which is actually decent, could have used a plus-up. Imagine it enclosed with some Dinos (not so dark and loud like DINOSAUR). Anywya, as it is now, it could go. I would do something that is more of an expansion of the Dino Institute, with perhaps a nice, mid-range coaster. They don't have any good Dino IP to tie it too though, so I doubt it would happen.

I thought the Chester & Hester thing was cool, but maybe too much inside baseball for most folks. I mean, to go to the trouble to make a distressed parking lot and then put something on top of it? It's worth a chuckle every time I think about it.

Obviously the people predicting the end of WDW have not been to other theme pasrks lately. I went to Six Flags Fiesta Texas on a Sunday a few weeks ago. Everything was a walk on, and talk about PRICEY....whil;e the park admission was quite a bit lower than Disney, the food services, souvenirs, and Genie+ equaivalent are all much more expensive. The top level of the their Genie equivalent is over $100 per person per day. Plus the coasters would close off and on throughout the day. Crowds are down everywhere, all the theme parks, all the movie theaters, and every other major tourist spot. WHile all their prices are up.

at least disney doesnt have a roller coaster that's coming a part while people are riding, like our local one here at Carowinds.

My local Six Flags (America) is a Dump, and they have maintenance issues like crazy on their attractions.

I like hitting up Hersheypark every now and then but even their ops are inconsistent.

My family would agree with you. We stopped going there completely. We bought an AP one year cheap when they were pushing them hard (essentially a few bucks more than a day pass and it included parking). We ended up going like 3x in the 15-month period the passes were good for.

Ok, just saw that Disney is offering discounts essentially through the rest of the year. I think they are going to be hurting for crowds for the remainder of the year.

I can’t remember a time they offered a discount for xmas. Crazy

I stand corrected. For some reason I thought that was almost never offered. The sheer length of discounts this year seems to be notable
I think we may be noticing the discounts more this year, because prior to COVID, they used a lot of "Free Dining" instead of room/ticket discounts.

That’s a good point, but did they run then through most of the summer fall and into the winter? I feel like it was more strategic precovid. I’ll preface that by saying I could be completely wrong

We have been a lot in the fall, and even though Food and Wine is a very busy time, we have always been able to book discounts of 25-40% during this time on the 2 bedroom villas we always get. As far as availability, it seemed like there may be more this year than some of the past years. I will say the dining reservations for our trip early October are just as difficult to get now as always. Still couldn't get Boathouse or Yachtsman for the dates I want. Even tried open table for the Boathouse with no luck.

Yeah prior to Covid they had lesser room discounts and “Free dining” offered for dates in the fall/winter up until Christmas week.
