I asked my TA to request building 14 in Alligator Bayou. She called me back today (and left me a message) and said that Disney told her there are no handicapped accessible rooms in building 14 but she did not say where they were located.
If you needed a wheelchair accessible room with a roll in shower, where did they end up putting you?

?????

Building 14 "needs" room was given to us years ago, two windows, first floor corner, but now I am thinking it did NOT have a roll in shower, (nor was there a ramp that I recall "up" to first floor....it was a tub with extra width and rails??? I am so not recalling specifically though.
PLEASE do yourself a favor and do not rely on your TA, CALL central reservations, tell them you really need to speak with a person regarding special needs and they WILL transfer you to someone that is equipped to handle your inquiries with SPECIFIC answers!
The resort if BEAUTIFUL, but I wonder if it is the BEST choice for you????

This will not work. As long as a reservation is made through a TA, the TA "owns" the reservation and Disney will not talk to you about it.

However, you can ask your TA to call 407-939-7807 which is the office that deals with accessible rooms property wide. Make sure that the TA is aware of your specific needs for the room. Possibly the TA can set up a three-way call with you on the line at the same time. But just remember that you cannot call them on your own.

Thanks Cheshire Figment. I did not know a TA reservation was so different that Disney would not discuss it with the guest!! I have always booked myself and have spoken to guest services area that specialized in special needs. They were very helpful as I recall! Yet another day to learn something new.....Hope the OP gets their issue resolved to their satisfaction! :wizard:

Disney will only deal with the owner of the reservation. For example, A couple and 4 kids are on a vacation but their cousin made the reservation for the couple and 14 other family members for a Grand Gathering and reunion. The reservation is the cousin's reservation so Disney will only deal with the cousin.

It is sort of a legal matter that I cannot explain but something that Disney does to cover themselves. Travel agencies can be great usually but what has to be done is the client must do the research then hand the agent the list of requests to make to Disney on their behalf. A necessary evil of a sue happy world.
