Does anyone have a crock pot recipie for macaroni and cheese? Seems I remember seeing one a while back that used uncooked noodles, just put it all in the crock pot. :stir:

I have a great one using Velveeta, cheddar cheese, sour cream, basic sauce of butter (I use margarine), flours, etc., but don't know how to adjust it for a crock pot

My mom, made the best crock pot mac and cheese ever over thanksgiving..

She put uncooked noodles, with a EXTRA sharp chedder, and colby jack cheese, pepper, butter in the crock pot and just let it sit for a bit. Stirring occasionally. OMG< it was amazing. the best mac and cheese i have ever tasted.

I am a yahoo list and this recipe was posted last month. I havent tried it but I have heard amazing things about it!! Sadly my crockpot had a battle with a pyrex cup and lost so I need a new one.

2 cups elbow (not cooked)
2 cups shredded cheese (any)
2 cups cottage cheese
1 stick butter
2 cups boiling water
Throw all the ingrediants into the crock pot, don't mix and cook for 2
1/2 hrs.

Now, I am really hungry. I guess I know what we will be having for dinner tomorrow night.

I really need help, Do you put the crock on hi or low???

hallie615--I actually went out and bought the ingredients today and am making it right now. I put it on high (only b/c I figure that it's a short time for cooking.) I'll let you know how it comes out in 2 1/2 hours ;)

This thread made me remember on of my families favorites that I haven't made in forever! Pizza fondue! I do use my own homemade pasta sauce.

Here's the recipe!
1 loaf (16 oz) American cheese, cut into cubes
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 oz)
1 jar (28 oz) tomato pasta sauce
1/2 cup dry red wine or beef broth
1 loaf Italian bread, cut into 1-inch cubes, if desired

1. Spray inside of 3- to 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In slow cooker, mix cheeses, pasta sauce and wine.
2. Cover; cook on High heat setting 45 to 60 minutes.
3. Stir until cheese is smooth. With rubber spatula, scrape down side of slow cooker to help prevent edge of fondue from scorching. Reduce heat setting to Low. Serve fondue with bread cubes and wooden picks or fondue forks for dipping. Fondue will hold up to 4 hours.

OK!! Now we need the pasta sauce recipe!!! This sounds great too.

My grandmother makes great sauce but she just refuses to share the recipe. I hate that!

subscribing too, also want to hear how the mac and cheese turned out. I have a feeling though, no matter how good it is, my kids (age 5 and 7) will still prefer Kraft. We go to a restuarant and they get mac and cheese, it is obviously made from scratch and they always complain it isn't as good as the boxed kind. Go figure :rotfl:

I used the ingredients as stated (medium cheddar for the shredded cheese) and cooked it in my crockpot for 2.5 hours on high.
Well. . .some of the noodles were perfect, others were started to burn from being overcooked and some were even undercooked. Maybe all the ingredients should have been mixed when orginally put in the crockpot? I've stirred it all together and am letting it sit another half hour on low--don't know if that was smart or dumb on my part. ***Well after writing this, I figured it would probably dry out the mac and cheese, so I turned it off. I also added about 1/2 c. of milk to it, and it mixed in fine. While I was writing this, the small bowl I was trying had dried out--so probably don't want to cook it on high(?) I'm sure someone with more crockpot experience can weigh in :)***
My personal preference would have been for more cheese, as not all the noodles have cheese on them, even after stirring. But then I'm a cheesy cheese girl and would have doubled it! I was going to intially, but wanted to stick to the recipe. If I did make it again I would double the cheese, mix all the ingredients together in the beginning, and maybe put the crockpot on low and let it simmer longer (?) It was good for not having to really do anything (versus Martha Stewart's mac and cheese-which I love, just not the making part--or the cost! :) )
Don't know if this really helps anyone though, and yikes I didn't know more people would be waiting for my "review." :)

I opened this thread because I'm a fan of homemade mac and cheese. But, WOW this is a great sounding recipe!! We're having people in this weekend and I was going to make spaghetti, but THIS will be much better for company. Can't wait to serve this with a hearty antipasta platter.

Great sounding recipes--I will give them a try!

I wanted to find a recipe that didn't need the noodles cooked before mixing, but I think if I just used the dried noodles they might burn, stick, or not coat evenly. So I'll just make my tried-and-true recipe tonight.

Here's my little tip--I add a few teaspoons of worchestchire(sp) sauce. It give a nice tang to cheese dishes.
