Critter Country Down For Six Weeks?

Well, that clinched our decision to not go over there in a couple weeks. DD loves the Pooh ride, as well as watching the logs come splashing down at Splash Mountain. Bummer.

Although that means our next trip should include our new (soon-to-be-adopted) daughter! Yay!

Marcie, congratulations on expanding your family!! What a blessing!

Wow, though, on no Pooh ride even though it isn't even being refurbished or anything! Crazy!

Good!;) Honestly, though I love Pooh, I was trying to decide if we could just skip that section of park next week as we are only going for the day. This will give us a little more compacted park to cover.:thumbsup2 Well... I had to look at the good side right?:goodvibes
Tigger tails- We saw them being made in DTD last trip in Sept. Not sure what place it was, but you watch the ladies make them through a window, along with candy/carmel apples etc.

That's the only place we buy our Tigger tails. Where can we get them now?
Please someone keep us posted on this. I was SOOO looking forward to trying them for the first time this trip!

Alright, I could deal with Splash, and I won't miss Pooh, but no Pooh's Corner!?!?! ;)

I know that the candy shop in DCA sells the regular chocolate marshmallow skewers, and if I recall correctly, when they had the special Cheshire cat tails, they sold those there at well. I can't remember if they also sell Tigger tails (I usually just get the dark chocolate marshmallows) but if they don't normally, maybe the closing of Pooh's Corner will encourage them to do so, kind of like when they closed the corndog cart and sold them in other locations :)

yes! I'm SO hopin that's the case here!

What's the DCA candy store and where? I will be there next month and will try and hunt them down!

Congrats! Three of my kiddos are adopted. It's a wonderful experience! :thumbsup2

Hydro thanks for posting this.

I'm disappointed and surprised that Disney would do this. This type of move is what the "other guys" do, not a typical Disney move. interesting....popcorn::

All I remeber is that it's on the same side as World of Disney store and GC. Sorry!:confused3 Give it a little time, I bet someone here knows, they're all sleeping now!:goodvibes

The name of the candy shop is Marceline's Confectionery and is located in the Downtown Disney District. This link will take you to the shop's description on the DL website. Yes, it is on the World of Disney side of the shopping area. There is a huge window where guests can watch the many treats that are sold at DL made by cms. I am always fascinated with the cms as they make caramel apples or other treats. There is a mention of
"milk chocolate-covered marshmallows" on the DL website.

I have got to go to bed!

Is it odd that they still haven't posted the closure on the DL site? Or is that the norm for something like this?

Yes and hopefully there are some disboarders there right now that can give us updates when they return home.

I am here and leaving to walk over to DL in just a few minutes. I
am not a Splash Mountain fan so that didn't bother me. But I would like to see ALL of DL while I am here and not have a whole land suddenly closed!

This sudden change tells me Disney really needs to look at adding something more to Critter Country. We are going this weekend and DD13 will be heart broken to not get to ride Pooh. It is still her favorite. Not to mention the candy shop...sad. I love the general atmosphere in that part of the park. Bummer!

Awwwwwwwwwwww :guilty: I'm one of the seemingly few adults who actually like the Winnie the Pooh ride; I'll miss going on it when I'm there in a couple of weeks.

That's a shame. Winnie the Pooh is our "down time" ride for in the middle of the day, before dinner, when we're tired and everything else is busy.. we ride it, and then we usually spend too much money at the gift shop next to it.

Winnie the Pooh is CLOSED today. It was listed on the sign at the bag check station this morning. I didn't go into DL today (only DCA) so not sure about Critter Country being "walled off". Hopefully someone will report in soon.

The biggest bummer about this is Splash closed until the end of MAY. Sheesh...the entire spring break season, it's going to be down. BUMMER!

Any reports? Maybe they are closing Pooh on days of low attendance only. Sure hope I get my tigger tail fix this weekend.

It's true. I was in DL today and Critter Country is closed off completely. There is a sign that says it is being refurbished.

That's too bad! We are going next month and my DS wanted to try to do ALL the rides during this trip.

Oh well, just another reason to go back in the summer (like we need any excuse to go back). :lmao:
