First of all, NO love interest for Reid...unless they cast me as the new female this season.

And I agree with ya, Imzadi....Prentiss doesn't have the greatest personality. Neither did Elle. I think maybe Garcia has all the female personality on the show...I mean, she is really the only one who is in the position to provide comic relief.
The JJ thing has come from nowhere, though. I liked her. I'm gonna guess they will not kill her off (they BETTER not) as she is a mommy and a wife. The only character they ever killed off was Hailey and she wasn't a permanent cast member. This scares me....this would be a good way to shake up the show bigtime. A major character getting killed.

Well, J.J. will have two episodes to wrap up her storyline. Maybe they do do an two-parter, like they did for Reid when he was kidnapped and was almost killed. Maybe, J.J. will also be saved, but will realize she just can't do stuff like that anymore, since she has a kid to think about. :(

The official name of the CM2 spin-off is Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior.

It could still possibly change. The name sounds redundant to me. :confused3

This is a big bummer, looks like JJ won't be returning next year:

http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/06/14/criminal-minds-drops-a-j-cook/

I am just not a JJ fan. I don't think that the character serves that much of a purpose so losing her won't bother me. I would be angry if they killed her off, since she has a husband and baby to leave for.

However, I LOVE Emily and will be seriously upset if they get rid of her or cut her back. They can't lose all the women on the show. I know that they still have Penelope, but she isn't a 'main' character anyway!

We have a few here who love Reid. :teacher:
A few who love Hotch.
Several who love Morgan. :faint:
Some who love Garcia. :surfweb:
And of course Morgan & Garcia. :love2:

Anyone for Rossi or Gideon? :cool2: :smooth:
No one really mentions having anything for J.J. or Prentiss. :confused3 :goodvibes

Count me as a J.J. fan and a fan of Elle. Both are based on looks, not their roles in the show. For the exact opposite reason I like Reid.

I am a Rossi fan! I liked Gideon, and loved the relationship between him and Spencer, but I really like what Rossi brings to the group.

Of course, I should also mention that I adore Joe Mantegna so I might be biased. :)

Hmm, I wonder if we just saw the reason why J.J. is going to be leaving the BAU. :scratchin She seemed extremely concerned to hear the answer to her question,"Will that baby born from 2 serial killers be all right?"

Hotch said, "If the baby grows up in a good home, is loved and taken care of, he will be alright."

J.J seemed really invested in the answer. Maybe, without her knowing it, the writers set her up for her reason to leave next season. That she will want to stay home with Henry.

Who knew that Charles Mansion has 10 kids?!? :scared1: What a horrible legacy, having him as a father. :sad1: I wonder if all the kids had their last name changed?

Speaking of Henry & names, has anyone else noticed that the show repeats names a lot?

Henry is J.J.'s son. He's named after his dad & grandfather, William Henry La Montagne. They also used both those names for the Jason Alexander episode. Jason Alexander's name was Henry Grace. His brother's name was William. Those names are linked even for brothers.

Then there's Aaron (Hotchner) and Erin (Strauss) that mean, blonde, FBI director. The names are pronounced similarly. One of the producers of the show was named Aaron, too.

They use Jack a lot too. Hotch's son.
There was the episode about pedophiles and selling a little boy in an auction to the highest bidder. At the end of the episode, the boy was holding a little soldier doll named Jack. It just so happened that the boy's real mom was named Jackie.

A forth time, there was some news report on TV that Haley was listening to about the attempted robbery at the shopping mall - which was that foiled terrorist attack. At the end of the news report once, I happened to catch the reporter say, "Back to you, Jack," (in the news room.)

I bet these names are very personal to the writers or producers, and they like to slip them in for their family. :goodvibes

For some reason I just found out about the JJ and Prentiss thing today. I'm so upset about it! I love JJ! I like Prentiss too but I'm more attached to JJ. I would rather have Prentiss leave and have JJ's role cut back, rather than the other way around. I absolutely don't want it to happen, but I'm convinced that they'll kill JJ off just because they haven't done that to any of the main characters yet. But I tend to get really irrational about that, as you may remember from when I was completely convinced Morgan was gonna die in the season finale  I also heard that Garcia is gonna have a main or recurring role on the spin-off. That seems weird to me :confused3 I'm not quite sure about the spin-off at this point. I know people have said that the spin-off has nothing to do with JJ and Prentiss, but I really think it does. I'll try to give it a chance, but I'm just not sure.

I think there was another Jack too. In the episode that Joe Mantegna's daughter was in. I think her character's dad was named Jack. I could be wrong

By the way, I love the scruffy picture of Thomas you posted

I found this cute "Friends-style" YouTube video of the cast. It would be fun to see an episode like this of the team in the bullpen. :upsidedow

Enjoy! :grouphug:

As for Garcia being on the spin-off show once in a while, that makes sense. How many tech analysts can they have, dedicated to each team? I would think for some time, they'd just be sitting around not doing anything. Like, what happens when the team is back in the bullpen, doing their own paperwork & aren't on a case? :confused3

If Garcia crosses over now & again, they should also have Hotch on the spin-off, too. He IS the Unit Chief, for the whole unit, not just the one team. Although, the only one time the show really showed him interacting and acting like the Unit Chief with other agents, was when he ordered some junior agent to drive Elle home. He should have to consult with the Forest Whitaker character, now and then.

I didn't like how they made Hotch go find & meet up up with Forest Whitaker in the spin-off, at that boxing ring. It should have been Whitaker's job to go to Hotch, the Unit Chief, not the other way around.

That episode was just weird. Hotch acted like he was second to Whitaker, throughout. Even though his team was supposed to be the lead team, and he is Unit Chief. I get that Whitaker's character has 20+ years experience on the force and deserves proper respect. So does Rossi. Hotch gives deference to Rossi, while at the same time making leads decisions for the team. Rossi knows his position.

I think there was another Jack too. In the episode that Joe Mantegna's daughter was in. I think her character's dad was named Jack. I could be wrong

Good catch!!! :thumbsup2 That one was so obvious, it went right past me.

The name Jordan the writers have used a couple times. She was the counter-terrorism agent who took over for J.J, while out on maternity leave.

Several days ago, I had the show on in the background. ( I like to look up at the eye candy now & then if I'm not watching anything else on TV at that time. :)) I heard some guy say, "Give that to Detective Jordan."

I thought, "Is Jordan in this episode? I could have sworn I saw J.J. a few minutes ago." Sure, enough, J.J. was on. It was not an episode where they were together and she was training Jordan. They just snuck in the Jordan name. :listen:

Another repeat tonight. They are kind of showing this season's repeats out of order. It appears CBS is skipping every other episode. Did someone not send CBS a memo that there actually is a through line to this season's episodes? :confused3

A&E has just started to show Season 5 (this season) repeats, starting tonight at 9pm. (Probably to get people to stay tuned to watch the A&E series The Glade, on right after.)

A&E is not showing Season 5 in order though. Tonight starts with episode 7. :confused3

Wednesday on CBS, they will show the first episode of Season 5, which is the episode right after the 2-part "Pig Farm" episode (Season 4 finale,) leaves off, with The Reaper in Hotch's apartment, wearing a mask and shooting at him. It's an incredibly, incredibly violent episode - more than usual, :scared1: so be prepared for that, if you didn't watch it the first time.

It looks like they are still tweaking the spin-off. The reception to the back-door pilot was luke warm to say the least so there has been a lot of changes to the cast and the additional use of the Garcia character to link the shows. The fact that it isn't on the fall schedule is pretty interesting. They are filming now so it might be a mid-season replacement.

As for the re-use of names, it happens on these types of procedurals all the time because there are numerous writers. There are something like 17 writers credited on IMDB. It seems the head writer or show runner or whomever should catch this just hasn't done it.

This came out yesterday:

'Criminal Minds' exec teases premiere

By Morgan Jeffery, TV Reporter

"The producer of Criminal Minds has promised that the cliffhanger ending to the fifth season finale will not be resolved quickly.

Viewers saw the daughter of Detective Spicer (Eric Close) kidnapped by a sinister serial killer (Tim Curry) in the episode.

Ed Bernero told TV Guide that the sixth season premiere will feature a "rolling hostage situation" in which a member of the BAU team makes contact with Curry's character.

"The solution rests on whether or not that team member can convince this psychopath to spare the little girl he's taken," he said.

He added that the events of the premiere will have strong repercussions, explaining that "another team member will be affected for a long, long time by what happens".

The new season of Criminal Minds begins September 22 on CBS."

I bet that team member will be J.J. :sad1:

This from last week:

When it comes to TV salaries, Blair Underwood got screwed

http://www.shadowandact.com/?p=28950

By Sergio, on August 11th, 2010

It’s no surprise that stars of hit TV shows make obscene amounts of money, so this list that came out today (see HERE) of what TV stars make per episode wasn’t a big surprise. However there were a still a few things that even I took notice of.

Like for example, Hugh Laurie gets $400,000 for every episode of House. Really? Is the show that popular and gets those kind of ratings? I think I saw it once and I had enough. Laurence Fishburne gets $350,000 per episode for CSI, and there are even 6 people on the list, including Laurie, who make more than him.

Which brings up the question: what does Forest Whitaker get for Suspect Behavior, the spin off for the CBS series Criminal Minds, premiering next season? And he’s an Oscar winner to boot too.

I wonder if this is where A.J. Cook's salary will be going? And the fact that they are bringing on Garcia part time, probably means they won't have to pay a full time, new cast member a full salary.

I wonder if Whitaker will make more than Joe Mantegna or Thomas Gibson as he's an Oscar winner?

I'm still upset about A.J. You don't rob Peter to pay Paul. Why would they mess with the formula of a proven successful show in order to create a new one? I guess I will give the spin off a chance, but I'm already bitter going in because of AJ. I just hope they give her a decent send off and don't kill her off that way they can rehire her when they come to their senses!!

Oh, and just to comment on the article you posted: Yes, House is that popular and the show would not be what it is without Hugh Laurie. He's worth it. Charlie Sheen makes one million per episode (i'm wondering why the article didn't mention him, I think he is waaayyy overpaid). and he's ok but not worth one million per episode, esp since he's such a troublemaker and he has been close to affecting the production of his show.
I remember when I was about 10. I had the biggest crush on Michael J Fox and I never missed and episode of Family Ties. I read in Tiger Beat that he made $21k per episode and I couldn't believe it. I just couldn't fathom someone making that much in one week. Now these people are making a million with one or 2 episodes.

Did you see the article I posted just before this one? Where it says, "another team member will be affected for a long, long time by what happens." I'm hoping this means they keep J.J. alive.

Yes, it would be great to bring her back. CSI ended up doing that with Jorja Fox after they were adamant about taking her off the show. She came back a couple of times for a long while, then left voluntarily for a while to concentrate on her personal life.

I just went and read it...yeah, it's gotta be about JJ. It takes something pretty big to release an actor from a show..they are gonna take full advantage of her departure. Think of how Elle went out. Gideons exit was not as dramatic because he left the show with no notice and didn't give the writers a chance to send him off with a good storyline.

And I also agree about a previous post you made. WTH is wrong with CBS running reruns in no certain order??? Last night was the one where Hotch was stabbed by the Reaper. Was that even last season??

A friend I worked with (the person who actually talked me into watching CM) missed the episode last season when the kids were commiting suicide on Friday nights, and it was such a good episode. I have been waiting to see it rerun so I could call her and give her a heads up so she doesn't miss it again.
So irritating!!

That's so cool! I love Hotch at the end wearing the hat (no spoilers). What's even cooler is that the first time I ever saw Paget Brewster in anything was a couple of episodes of Friends. She played the girl dating Joey that Chandler fell in love with. Joey got mad and made Chandler sit in a box (not sure if anyone remembers that one!)
