Welcome to our fellow cricuters. I wanted to start up a thread to share some projects we are going to be making. I know a few people have recently acquired cricut machines, so let's share those projects! expecting lots of pictures on this one!

I mainly use my cricut for scrapbooking. I recently did this on my daughter's wall though.

I make a lot of tiles with a monogram intial as gifts for teachers, etc. I have never taken a picture though. I just buy a small floor title, buy a small stand, and cut out their last initial plus some small swirls on vinyl- makes a cute little decoration for very little cost.

I was able to try out my new cricut cartridges last night. We are still in the middle of planning our August 2012 wedding-Disney theme of course, because Im completely new to the cricut machine, Im sticking to basics right now.

These below, expect for the halloween pixture frame, are not completed projects. Just beginnings and things in the making.

Unfortunately our house flooded, so my haunted mansion-spare room theme office space, is toast. If I am able to find space, the only place I can do any of this cricut work, is on our kitchen counter....standing. It's a pretty rough situation while we wait for new carpets and flooring. The dog even lives with my mom while this is underway.

Hi all! I'm am very new to Disboards and, while I'm planning a trip to Disney in a couple of months, I have ended up coming to the scrapbooking and weight loss more than anything else now!!!

So I just bought a Cricut Expression Bundle yesterday and tried it out today. First lesson I learned was to pull my long hair back in a pony tail before I get near the cutting mat. Hair all stuck to it -- LOL. Anyway, I figured out how to work it and tried it on several types of scrap 12x12 paper I have around. My question is how does one get the paper (the part that wasn't cut) off the mat without it getting all wrinkled or rolled-up? I would want to be able to use the leftover paper again. Am I just not getting it ?

Thanks so much!

I wish I had a trick for you. I haven't really had any issues with mine and removal, however I was having problems with paper falling apart when I was trying to remove what was cut. I realized that getting an actual brand name of carstock is what made the difference. It might be something to consider. The better quality the paper/cardstock, the easier and better you will get for result.

Ok haven't read all the posts but saw this - YOU NEED A SPATULA. Pick up the cheapest one because after a few about a dozen projects you won't need it. It's only because the matt is super sticky in the begining.

From obsessedwithscrapbooking.com had an awesome cricut setting by paper I'm going to post it here:

Dial settings thick cardstock regular cardstock pattern paper chipboard vinyl

BLADE 6 5 4 6 6
SPEED 2 4 4 3 3
PRESSURE 5 5 4 5 3

Here's a card i did last week for a friend who hurt her hand. Inside it says Sending you a few helping hands! LOL

Finally made one of these flowers cards.

I've got one for my sil's baby shower, but I'll post it later.

is the vinyl hard to work with?

what carteidge are the halloween frames from????

These are all great! How did you do the t-shirts and which carts did you use?

I used iron on vinyl and design studio. The skull, eye patch, and bandanna are from Life's a Beach, the peace sign is from Cars, all the Mickey cuts are from either Mickey & Friends or Mickey Font. I'm not sure which one I used for the heart, jack o'lantern face, or numbers. I think the year has items from Paper Doll Dress Up.

HTH!

The mats are uber sticky when you first get them. If you prime the mat, it takes off some of the stickiness and you can remove your paper without totally destroying it. To prime the mat, press your clean hands over the surface of the mat, the natural oils in your hands will help tone down the stickiness. You can also use a clean white t-shirt. You can find other tips at www.cricut.com. The spatula is also a great way to help get the paper off of the mat.

Here's a few new cards I've worked on.

Just got the Mini Monster cartridge and can't wait to make more fun things with it!

I made our countdown calendar with my Cricut and the Mickey & Friends cartridge :goodvibes

We will hang it in DS's room and they will take turns pulling off the mickey heads to countdown. The heads are on the posterboard with the sticky "dimensional" things - so they're raised off the board. Under each head is a pic of something we'll see on our trip!! I can't remember where I placed the 30 different images, so it'll be surprising to me, too - LOL.

The two postcards on the sign the kiddos received recently from a friend who was vacationing. The kids were excited they got postcards from Mickey and the Princesses!!

Cute countdown calendar! My daughter doesn't know about our upcoming trip (38 days!) so we don't have a countdown this time. Here are some pictures of the one we made for our cruise last year.

Not made with the Cricut, but I wanted to show it off. DH hand drew the ship on cardboard and cut it out.

We each had to make 10 markers, here are mine.
