Ok someone enlighten me! On almost every dessert menu at WDW is some sort of Creme Brulee. What is the deal with this stuff? I tried the banana carmel at Kona's last week and it was only okay, nothing I would ever get again. What am I missing? :confused3

How is this dessert made? Is it difficult to make?

Creme brulee is basically a thick, rich, slightly sweetened, French custard, usually vanilla flavored, mostly cream, sugar and eggs that is baked in individual dishes in the oven usually in a bain marie so it doesn't overbake and remains very very creamy rather than firm. It is then sprinkled with sugar and either broiled or blowtorched to caramelized the sugar into a thin, hard, crunchy caramel shell. It can be awesome or not so good, depending on the place. Most Disney restaurants have a creme brulee- chocolate, coffee, plain vanilla, banana, even Irish Cream creme brulee at Rose and Crown.
Sorry you didn't like yours. I hope you'll try it again and have a better experience. I LOVE creme brulee! Then again, I can't think of a single dessert I DON'T like- carrot cake, ice cream, brownies, cheesecake, fruit salad, pretty much like it all. lol.
Aloha! :flower:

Okay -- when I go to Victoria and Albert's -- I get the choc. suffle.

However, my partner is a creme brulee fan/conosieur (sp?). I might say that if you are not into puddings/custards - brulee may never be your thing. But a good brulee is like the most incredible custard type dessert you've ever had. The creme brulee at V&A is sooo smooooth and creamy -- and then you add on top a perfectly carmalized sugar topping --- you lightly tap the top to crunch through to the creamy bottom -- and the crunchy top juxtaposed by the creamy custardy bottom --- can be very rich and basically incredibly elegant.

So -- there you go. And like I said -- I'm not even the brulee fan in my home.

I had the plain vanilla 2 years ago at the F&W Fest-- I had been dying to try it after I read so much about it here (Never had it before that). I didn't like it and threw it out. Last year- they had chocolate in the France booth. So, I try again (not sure why when I didn't like it the first time). This time I LOVED it. Can't wait to try it again.

My DH had never tried creme brulee until our trip 3 years ago. Now he can not wait until our trip this Dec.

Last time we had vanilla, coconut, banana and I do not remember what else.

I told him this trip he needed to eat his way around the world with creme brulee unstead of drinking his way around the world with beer.

Creme Brulee is my DH's and many's personal favorite. I don't find the lust for it.

My husband and I fight over Creme Brulee LOL! A waiter at YSH told us not to leave any blood on his white tablecloth LOL!

I even make it at home in my mickey shaped ramekins YUMMY!

The coffee Creme Brulee at Spoodles is to die for.
