Creatively Financing DVC

im thinking of seeing if me or my fionce can get united or southwest credit card.. it would help us in alot of ways.. make dvc payments, save up miles for when we need to go to wdw.

I use coupons, I use frys cards. I buy at walmart (hay its cheap) I only buy clothing thats on sell. I buy off doller list at fast food. (we have started doing movie each of my fionces pay day..this is our day out. my son loves it and we take bus to save money in stead of taxi. We bought movie cups in jan so we only pay doller for our drinks. (we had done the tee shirt for free popcorn, but it didnt help last year so didnt do it this time. We are living with fionces parents in stead of moveing out on our own. (it relly works well there thinking of in 5years when they want to move in motor home, renting room from us and we stay here)
We do fast food offtin but not more then 5dollers each time. (none these 4doller meal.)

There is so much we do to save money. on the 4th i started saveing for dvc down payment. I have 4 or 5hundred now.
I also get money till 2021 from my dads 21years in airforce. (this is what im useing for maintnce fee yearly, and i usely lone money to dad and he pays me back over the year. (its smart investment)

Thanks - that was our plan!!

But do you have to wait one billing cycle first?

Ellen
No, you do not. There have been months where we close to maxed out and paid off our card 3 times in one billing cycle and got all the points and still carried a $0 balance.

We are soon to be new DVC owners and a way we have found to have extra cash and not worry about vacation money or a big purchase like DVC - is to bring breakfast and lunch from home to work and limit eating out dinners when lazy.

I know this sounds totally crazy but we are able to save $600.00 a month by simply planning evening meals and preparing the others. Simple? Well - at first you can feel like you are depriving yourself - however once you get use to it - you love the freedom it gives you! - If you prefer to pay cash for things and not worry about bills coming due later this really works. :cool1:

Believe it or not, I just highlighted all of the restaurant expenses on our VISA yesterday ($550) and told DH that this is the first area we have to cut back. Since we went to WDW last week, we have eaten at home for every meal this week - a first in our history!! But it is a good start!!

Thanks for the advice and support -

Ellen

Here are the ones I have heard of that people have done:

1. Use Disney VISA, get the rewards points and then pay it off with a home equity loan or line of credit and get the tax benefits.

2. Do #1 without putting it on the VISA first.

3. Remortgage your house, pull some of the equity out and build the cost of the DVC into that amount. I don't recommend this one.

4. Loan

5. Borrow money from family member.

6. Share expense with family member.

I had my dh sell some of our disney stock, it has been a poor performer in comparison to the market the last few years. My husband is an investment advisor, and sugggested to off set the cost since very litle capital gain is involved. My dh thought the home mortgage was also a good idea but we ended up paying cash for part of the add on with the sale of the stock. I wanted to take out of my 401 K since it wouldn't be a large sum, he said absouletely not!!! So now he is trying to put me on somewhat of a budget, which he has been trying to do for 23 years!
