Crazy Eights take on the World: Spoiled Silly (Aug 2011 TR) Life Update: May 23!!!

Going to the Lodge
August 18, 2011

So this is going to be a great part of the trip report, I hope you are all excited!! This is the part where I will start to retell parts of the trip I was not on.

For 6 of our 8 days we set up reservations at separate table service restaurants for many reasons. This is the first one that I will write about where I did not eat any of the food you will see!! So here goes, me trying to recall a night I didn’t have!!!

In my last post we left off with Disney Quest, we are going to take a step back in time…

This was the night of dinner at The Wilderness Lodge’s Whispering Canyon Café for Ma, Pa, Sam and Kc. (Andy, Danielle, Adam and Myself did not like it that much when we went last time so we opted out).

From the pictures it looks like they checked in and then went to explore a little.

Here is Pa, he is a Native American so my guess is that’s why he got the totem pole picture. (we have a totem pole in our from yard, I wish it was full of Disney characters like this one!!)

DSC04053.jpg

Next they wandered into a store where KC tried on a hat then he decided to Pose with this shirt?

DSC04055.jpg

Look that the lobby of this place!!

DSC04056.jpg

I would love to stay here in the winter, I feel like there are so many nooks and cranny’s, I would love to curl up with some hot chocolate in front of a fire place and just relax. Of course as I type that I realize I’m from NY and picturing a cold snowy day perfect for hot coco, when in reality it’s Florida so I’d be so warm for me I would be out in shorts haha. Anyways….

The lovebirds took a stroll over the bridge, just like in the musical The Music Man.

DSC04058.jpg

DSC04059.jpg

Then they took a stroll outside to take in some strategically placed streams and nature. Oh, look at that!!

DSC04060.jpg

I love that the water from inside the hotel runs into the pool

DSC04061.jpg

This is a nice shot of Sam on a bridge with the warm Florida sun cascading in around her..

DSC04062.jpg

DSC04063.jpg

Then their tour was abruptly ended when thy were called back inside to chow down.

This part of the night I remember Sam telling me about. They had a 4 person table that that exactly 3 Indian seats and 1 cowboy. They made pa sit in the cowboy seat. That’s my family’s humor.

DSC04078.jpg

Pa showing off his chair

DSC04064.jpg

Sam feeling accomplished.

DSC04065.jpg

Now for some food!!

To start Sam and KC got some blue Milkshakes.

DSC04070.jpg

Sam said it tasted like “blue goo” which is a type of ice cream a place near us sells for those of you who don’t know what that means. She loved it!! And highly recommends it, as you can see…

DSC04071.jpg

Pa got the Skillet, before they left he said he wasn’t going to get that again, but surprise surprise, he did anyways.

First comes some delicious salad (I remember that from last time, pretty god stuff)

DSC04066.jpg

Then the Skillet itself with it’s meat and BBQ sauciness

DSC04068.jpg

The other 3 got the steak. Sam loved it on our last trip, talked about it literally every time we have steak at home. Not sure how she felt about it this time, but we will say she loved it once again!

DSC04067.jpg

They we all stuffed so they got apple pie to go

DSC04073.jpg

Then came some fun!! Kiddy horse racing!!!

DSC04076.jpg

Oh look at the light fixture!!

DSC04077.jpg

And then the pictures end with a dead beetle, which I won’t show you.

And that in a nutshell was their night at Whispering Canyon Café. I hope you enjoyed

Tune In Next Time!!!

What a fantastical fun report! Love your writing style and your pics :thumbsup2

I wasn't sure if I'd like to stay at SSR since I usually rent points and stay at BWV but the Grand Villa is awesome! You all are having so much fun as a big group - would love for my whole family to join in on a trip soon (me, 5 kids and their gf/bf's and 2 grandkids). Can't wait to read about Day 3!

Thank you so much!!! I'm glad you joined in and are having fun reading about my crazy family!!! I thought I wasn't going to like SSR either, but I ended up LOVING it :lovestruc so peaceful and beautiful, if only we could stay in the Grand Villa again. That was a once in a lifetime experience and it was so amazing!!!!!

This is NOT our Morning…
August 19, 2011

So I last left off with our trip back in time, but before that backtrack we left off with us in a down pour getting back to the hotel room and passing out before an early morning.

So, as quick as you can say “Disney Day 3!!!” it went from time to sleep to time to wake up!!! 6:45 comes so early…. We all got up and scrambled to get ready. Today was going to be a day where all "The Eights" went out together for Extra Magic Hours at EPCOT. But of course that is a lot easier said than done, especially with us. Sam, K.C., Andy and I were ready and out the door so fast we forgot to take door pictures.

Pop tarts in hand we headed out to the bus stop while the other half of us were straggling along slow as molasses!!! Ugh do they not understand?!? We are in Disney there is NO time for that!!!

Finally we made it to the bus stop at 7:15, not bad that gives us 45 minutes to make it there for Rope Drop. Plenty of time right?!?!

Except not. Not at all. The bus didn’t show up until almost 7:45. Were they trying to make me crabby or something?!? Jeesh. So we took some bus stop photos.

309912_540896214113_162200254_30797371_289055_n.jpg

IMG_4616.jpg

FINALLY!!! At exactly 8:15 the bus music switched from the relaxing sounds of SSR to the most lively and Magical Music of EPCOT (seriously this park has the best music, I am listening to it right now and I am transported and crying). We were welcomed to the Experimental Prototype City Of Tomorrow. I literally jumped off the bus and dashed for the baggage check. And the it happened. Danielle told us she left her Key to the Kingdom Card back at the room….

Hold on a second, we come here for EMH and you are going to tell me you forgot the one thing that is going to get you into the park?!? Ugh so she and pa Handed off their bags and headed over to the ticket counter to see if they could wrangle her up another one. Luckily they did!!! And we met up with them after Andy, Sam and I got compliments from the security guys on our ears.

IMG_4624.jpg

So as we counted down to get into the park I uploaded a photo of the “golf ball” to facebook from my iphone just to rub in everyone face that I was in the happiest place on earth, they do it to me so it’s only fair!

IMG_4621.jpg

We all got in different lines in hopes of making it in fast. But some of the group chose a line with a gazillion strollers and got held up. So we stopped for a photo

308343_540896418703_162200254_30797379_6537415_n.jpg

All I remember about this morning is I was in SUCH A RUSH. I almost took off without the whole group and got yelled at. Once we all made it through the turnstile we were off with the mad dash of people to you guessed it….

IMG_4626.jpg

Sorry for the blurriness of that photo, but as I said before I was not stopping for anything this morning. I have never seen such a mad dash for fastpasses.

Once we got the little slip of paper that would allow us to pass by all those poor unfortunate souls waiting in that 2 hour line later in the day we were off to Nemo because it was close and was a logical choice.

But then we were greeted by a cast member who said that Nemo wouldn’t be open until the park actually opened at 9am. Of course!!! Just our luck. So we Stopped for a quick family photo

307492_540896523493_162200254_30797382_4027220_n.jpg

And once again we were off. This time to

IMG_4627.jpg

not clear enough? How about this?

IMG_4631.jpg

There was literally zero line for this, finally something was going our way!!! Look how excited we were!!

319070_540896663213_162200254_30797386_6604009_n.jpg

301564_540896688163_162200254_30797387_190546_n.jpg

So we were off, on another time traveling educational adventure.

291852_540896718103_162200254_30797389_6191628_n.jpg

We sat back and enjoyed the air conditioning, (because even though it was only 8:30 is was HOTTTT. This was the hottest day of our trip). So as I sat back and tried to relax, honestly I am terrified of this ride, the people inside of it scare me (with the exception of the redhead in the ticket booth and the little girl with pig tales sitting in front of the TV) I am terrified of this ride. But it was ok because the day was turning around for us, we were actually on a ride and things were going great

That is until we got on it and it stopped twice for a good 5 minutes and the pictures didn’t even work!! Luckily when we got stuck we were in that light tunnel after you go through the garage where the first personal computer was made. The lights in there make it feel like you are moving so at first I was like this tunnel is a lot longer than I remember but then they kindly told us that our time travel had been interrupted. Then we got stuck in the going backwards part with the cool lights (I know what a description haha). I just was thankful we weren’t by any creepy people.

This is Andy and I in the future. I apparently think it’s a good idea to be blonde (so not the case).

IMG_4634.jpg

What a let down. Oh well no time for sadness in Disney only time for rushing. So off we went to Mission Space. Which Andy can’t ride (he has never actually tried) because he feels like he will get sick and won’t feel well the rest of the day. Better safe than sorry I guess.

They decided to go on the orange side (I’m not even sure what that means anymore, that’s how long it has been since I went on it) Sam kindly modeled that for us

297517_540896807923_162200254_30797393_7758018_n.jpg

Meanwhile… I decided to do some trading of my vinilimation!!! The guy who worked in the Mission Space giftshop was the cutest little old man, usually you are only suppose to pick 1 number and no matter what it is you either take the one that was in that spot or you keep your own. He let me pick 3!! So I did. I ended up with a red guy a tron one and this guy…

I couldn’t pass him up for a few reasons 1. Norway is one of my all time FAVORITE Disney rides (which is sad because I heard they are redoing the entire pavilion and the ride will be either changed or removed) 2. It broke my heart to think that he was probably put in that box because some kid thought that he was creepy or scary. So he was going to be mine, for the time being.

We had a lot of fun with him and I gave him a lot of loving.

IMG_4644.jpg

In that photo for some reason I feel like I resemble a Country Bear. Anyways…

The rest of the gang got off of the ride. I made a little home for my new friend in my purse

IMG_4645.jpg

And we were off once again!!! This time to

IMG_4649.jpg

Which was experiencing technical difficulty. Man did we pick the wrong time to come to EPCOT. SO we decided to wait 15 minutes until our window opened up for new fastpasses. As we waited one of the guys thought we were waiting around for the ride to open back up and told us we might as well just leave because they didn’t know if it was even going to open back up that day.

We grabbed our fastpass and left, that guy was way to crabby for us. As we went back up the hill to make our way back to Soarin’ we tried telling people that it was close and not to bother going all the way down there but no one listened to us…

We backtracked and before we knew it we were in line to use our magical jump the line pass.

IMG_4653.jpg

IMG_4652.jpg

We handed over those puppies and thought we were all set to go

IMG_4654.jpg

But wouldn’t you know, they were having jus a little bit of trouble with the ride. So we waited a little longer than expected and then!!!! No purprise there, I mean the title of this is “This is NOT Our Morning”

We got to ride in the second row… yay for feet obstructing our view!!! Haha. We got off this and figured that Nemo would be up and running by now so that’s where we headed.

IMG_4658.jpg

IMG_4657.jpg

I love the queue for this ride. I think it is themed perfectly. Usually there is no line whatsoever so we just breeze through it I do not remember the room with the boat on the ceiling at all. But we all know how this day went and their was quite the line so I got to take it all in.

IMG_4661.jpg

296289_540896902733_162200254_30797398_5481319_n.jpg

So we got off the ride and the parent’s decided to head off on their own. I really have no idea where they went but it is what it is.

Sam found this super cute little Nemo and then we were off.

IMG_4694.jpg

Kids having free roam. Whatever would we do next?

Tune In Next Time!!!

Hahaha a Vera Bradley bag count!! Brilliant. I love those bags they are too cute!

Aww poor andy! I used to feel that way whenever I flew! When I was 8 and 13 I had TERRIBLE turbulence experiences :scared1: I was seriously terrified of planes for years. But the past year or two I have been much braver! I am proud of myself!

I always get terrible seats for Nemo too! I really should get there earlier but I just don't have time to sit around when there are things to get done! :lmao:

I like your giraffe print dress, by the way! I always buy animal print clothing and say "I can wear this to animal kingdom!!" But really. It happens every time. :p

Chapter 5:

HOLY COW. OH MY GOD. I never saw inside of a Grand Villa before and WOWWW it's like a HOUSE in there!!!!

Except I can't believe the bad luck at epcot. I hope your afternoon made up for it!

You probably only missed because there was a day that I was REALLY into updating and did like 2 everyday. Thanks for reading along though and I am glad to hear that you are enjoying it so far!!!

Time to continue!

I love your "I <3 My Boyfriend" shirt! That is SO precious!

Ahh I spot Andy's monorail shirt!! I have the same one!

I can't believe how close you were to DTD! Wow, I would have ended up going to WPE every morning for breakfast if I stayed there! :rotfl:

I loveee that place, though. The mac and cheese looks so good! I have yet to try it, but it's on my list for next time!

---------

I haven't gotten into the whole Vinylmation thing yet. I still don't know how I feel about it. I am interested to see how you liked it on your trip.

Oh wow, that wait for the bus sounded AWFUL! I absolutely hate when that happens!!

---------

YAYY CHEF MICKEY'S! I have never gone there for dinner! I am going there for breakfast on my Christmas trip, but it's going to be right before we leave.. so I am going to be sad! Oh well.

That food looks really good! I don't know why people complain! I really want to try that Mickey Ravioli.. and if you say the mashed potatoes are good I MUST try them! I'm a huge mashed potatoes fan.

---------

A PLUTO PILLOW PET!?! That is seriously going on my Christmas list right now hahaha. Pluto is one of my top favorites! :goodvibes

$80 FOR TIP!?! Holy cow that's absolutely insane!! Plus it's a buffet! I hate how they do that. :headache:

--------

I miss Typhoon Lagoon!! I haven't been there in forever!! I also miss summer. I want it to be sunny and warm so I can just go swimming!!

--------

Yum EoS! I haven't been there in a while either! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! It makes me want to go back even more! Ugh there's just never enough time to squeeze everything into my Disney trips :rotfl: I will get there eventually!

I WANT A DISNEY FAIRYTALE WEDDING TOO! I am warning my parents now. ;) Now I just gotta find the right guy hahaha. :lmao:

I haven't done DisneyQuest in a while either! Those Donald Duck drawings are really good!!

-------

Every time I see pictures of WL I want to stay there even more!! It's just SO beautiful!

AHH THE MUSIC MAN! I was just in that this past march! :goodvibes "There were bells on the hill but I never heard them ringing, No, I never heard them at all, till there was you." :lovestruc Such a cute show.

Mmm Whispering Canyon! I'm going there on my next trip! I really want the skillet! It's been too long!

------

Dang the bus luck on this trip just sound terrible :( Wahh that stinks! I always get so crabby when the busses take forever so I know exactly how you feel!

Epcot DOES have the best music and I was just listening to it thinking that same thing! Ahh I wish I was able to experience Epcot back when they had the old figment/horizons/food rocks/wonders of life. It just seems like a great time in Epcot history.

OH NO that could have been disastrous! Thank GOD she was able to get a new one!

The Norway Pavilion is being redone!? I haven't heard that yet! Ahh they better not get rid of the Maelstrom I love that thing!

So you said you were obsessed with Disney smells, and since you read my trip reports you probably remember that I am too. But is it just me or does the line going to the Nemo ride smell really good?!? I LOVE it :rotfl:

------

Aww yay I'm all caught up! I LOVE your trip report! I can't wait for the next update! :wizard:

yay I'm all caught up! I LOVE your trip report! I can't wait for the next update! :wizard:

Awwww thank you. Yay!!! I am so glad you liked it. If my trip report can be half as entertaining as yours I will be happy!! lol I hope you enjoy the rest :goodvibes

Oh no! Being part of a big group is fun at times, but not when racing for fastpasses! Boo.

I love Maelstrom so much! It's so much fun and cheesy and awesomeness all in one package. They can't get rid of it - unless they put in something video-screen-less and almost exactly the same as the old one. Just update the movie! No one will care about that!

The Nemo building is so adorable. I love the outside and the queue and everything. It seems like such a fun place to conceptualize and decorate. Also - clam mobiles. Soarin' just seems so... 80s? Neon? Way less cute than the Seas pavilion.

Maelstrom is honestly like my second favorite ride haha. I was terrified of it as a child but I have to ride it at least once every trip!!

Soarin's got nothing on the Seas pavilion theming!!! :rotfl:

So I am back!!! After a long lull due to Audition Week and Finals. BUT soon enough I will be on winter break and I will be updating MUCH more. So here is another update that you will hopefully enjoy and tied you over for now :goodvibes

Kids Taking on the World
August 19, 2011

Last I left off we kids were about to take on EPCOT without the adults, so as we left the bliss of air conditioning and ventured out into the baking Florida sun we quickly developed a plan!!

It didn’t take us long to decide what we were going to do next all we needed was a little imagination and we were off to visit Sam’s favorite purple dragon the “oh so cuddly” (really creeps me out) FIGMENT!!!

Of course we stopped for a photo opp.

319458_540896937663_162200254_30797399_7959516_n.jpg

318751_540896992553_162200254_30797401_4732200_n.jpg

As we went inside there were the cutest little kids behind us playing with princess figurines. Then one of the girls refused to share and started crying when her mom took them away because she wouldn’t give one to her sibling and then her little brother kept wandering off and running around us in line.

I took some photos to try to stay away from it. Oh look it’s my favorite guy from monty python and the holy grail, he’s funny, unlike this awkward situation I am in.

IMG_4704.jpg

Hall of Fame right here, this is where it is at.

IMG_4706.jpg

So after we sang along to that catchy little tune… With F-I-G-M-E-N-T you can see things differently…

IMG_4744.jpg

We decided to venture into another gift shop!! Of course not by our choosing, we were simply got off the ride and found ourselves right in the middle of it. Let’s have a look around shall we?

IMG_4747.jpg

We were quickly interrupted by the excitement of Adam jumping in on my vinilimation game!!! He bought a cutie because they were the cheapest and he was only going to be trading it so he didn’t care what he started out with (whish I would have thought about that)

We quickly went outside to that he could open it up… look at the excitement!!

310895_540897067403_162200254_30797404_3490841_n.jpg

What a cutie…?

299515_540897087363_162200254_30797405_4780616_n.jpg

seeing how we are from Buffalo this was perfect for him I guess haha

IMG_4748.jpg

Then we lost two more of our party. Danielle and Adam had to go catch up with Ma and Pa to make it to their lunch reservation. We said goodbye to them and continued on our way.

Since we were in the area we figured we would check out Captain EO and luckily for us the show was just about to start!!

IMG_4749.jpg

Of course we got some photos of the classy glasses. :3dglasses:3dglasses Clearly I don’t have the correct face shape to make these glasses look attractive.

IMG_4750.jpg

IMG_4751.jpg

The show was interesting. I can barely remember seeing it when I was like 4. I remember being terrified of the evil lady. I loved the fact that the floor moved and there were lights that were in the audience. I thought it was awesome to see an old Disney favorite, plus I was never really a fan of Hunny I Shrunk the Audience.

As we deposited out glasses in the receptacle we decided that it was time for lunch!! We were trying to space lunch and dinner farther apart so we weren’t full.

So we made out way back to…

IMG_4626.jpg

for some delicious food at Sunshine Seasons. Mmmmmmmm don’t we all just dream about Disney food all the time? I know I do, last night I actually had a dream about going to Pizzafari <3

Ok so here is what we devoured for lunch today!!!

KC and I had the turkey sandwich and some potato salad. Extra mayo because it was HUGE and just a little dry. But yum yum yum, the bread and as I said before I am all about potato salad.

IMG_4752.jpg

So many dessrt choices here and I love that!!! KC got the smores brownie

IMG_4754.jpg

Look hidden Mickey on Andy’s tray…

IMG_4753.jpg

Andy got (as always) the half a rotisserie chicken, rice which he didn’t eat and beans which he didn’t eat. Then he got some Strawberry short cake and the to right corner is my DELICOUS chocolate cake, so airy and fluffy with moose mmmmmm.

Sam got the delicious looking Cesar Salad with chicken, which I debate getting every time and never do, maybe next time. And her dessert was Strawberry Short cake, which she liked but expected more from.

IMG_4755.jpg

Now for some food action shots!!! Andy and his Shortcake

IMG_4756.jpg

Mmmmm KC’s smore brownie

IMG_4757.jpg

First bite yummmmm

IMG_4758.jpg

So after we were full we went in search of some fore fun. We made our way through the magical EPCOT music to Innoventions to see what fun we could discover there, we ended up getting in line for

IMG_4759.jpg

There were letting in a group as we walked up and the people in front of us were the last ones let in. So we decided to play with the little kiosks and learn about fire safety. Then this terror child was dropped off by his parents and decided to literally burst through us to get to the game we were playing. Here is his rude little interrupting hand…

IMG_4761.jpg

When we finally got to play we were put onto two separate teams. Andy and I vs. Sma and KC. We were giving flashlights and told that we had to go through the house and find all the different fire hazards and when we found them we both had to shine out flashlights on it at the same time. We had to work quickly because they slowly went from being fine, to smoking to smoldering to being on fire.

This was really actually very fun and terrifying at the same time. If you haven’t done it I would suggest giving it a try, it’s a nice air conditioning break on a hot day.

After the game it was almost time to meet up with the others. But first Andy and I wanted to head back to the Mexico Pavilion to make rings so that’s where we decided to head off to next.

Tune In Next Time!!!

Yay an update! :yay:

I dream about Disney food ALL THE TIME! :cloud9: Ahh I just love it so much!

You guys definitely got two of the best desserts from Sunshine Seasons - the Strawberry Shortcake and Chocolate Mousse Cake. SO GOOD!

I haven't really explored Innoventions before... so i should definitely try to do that sometime soon!

And oooh rings?! I can't wait to hear about those! :goodvibes Great update!

Innoventions is so much fun!! They have this design your own roller coaster simulator in there and a piggy bank game and an intriguing weather thing that we never got the chance to do.

alish isn't figment a dragon not a dinosaur? I could be wrong.

oh my goodness you are right!!!! how could I have messed that up?! I was just listening to one little spark and i remembered why I am scared of him and the dreamfinder's, their voices give me the willies.

Are You Two Brothers?
August 19, 2011

Once again I find myself in the situation in which there was a table service that I was not a part of. Fortunately for you I am a great story teller so I will still give you an idea of what happened.

While we kids were using our imagination and traveling through space and dancing to 80’s music and stuffing our faces. Half of the “The Eights” were off to enjoy a relaxing lunch at Le Cellier

Awww parents, how cute. Still in love after 27 years.

They were seated and ready to have a great meal!!! As they glanced over the menu they stared adoring over their glasses into one another’s eyes and discussed what to order

312087_540924382663_162200254_30797623_5536303_n.jpg

they finally decided on the cheddar cheese soup.

307387_540924412603_162200254_30797625_4694357_n.jpg

Adam’s Cutester really enjoyed the meal.

302829_540924427573_162200254_30797626_4053693_n.jpg

After all that cheese soup they decided to go explore the world!!! (Now of course they ate more food and delicious desserts unfortunately all they photos Danielle has on facebook of their meal are those 2 sooooo, if she is actually following a long with this, maybe she will add them, if not I guess you will all just have to go to Le Cellier and see what it’s like for yourself!!!)

As I said they were going to take a leisurely stroll around the world. Here is pa loving the Disney life.

They ended up in Mexico which just so happens to be where we were headed at the end of our last enstallment!!!

296267_540924712003_162200254_30797643_3549277_n.jpg

What a coincidence!!! I can now hop back to the fun people, aka Me, Andy, Sam and KC.

As I said last time Andy and I wanted to go make some rings. So we headed off to Mexico. Let me tell you this was the hottest day in the history of Disney. We trudged from The Land to Mexico. Passed by the Duffy stop in Mexcio and talked about how if we weren’t full we could go for a Mickey premium bar. We made it to the little shop (outside the air conditioned pavilion, booooooo) and decided on the design for our rings. They guy gave us a receipt and told us to go get it stamped by the cashier. When we walked into the little hut Andy had another moment. The guy that was cashing us out was on of the international college program students and had a very thick accent that Andy didn’t really understand so when he asked Andy and KC if they were brothers he quickly responded with “No we are just dating” because he thought that he was him and myself. It was so funny, yet another moment we refuse to let him live down (:

At this point Ma had called and told us that they were making their way to us so we had to stay where we were. We were dying of heat and we needed to find a way to cool off. We decided that the little boat ride in Mexico would do the trick! So into the air conditioning it was. On our way inside we stopped to listen to the mariachi band unfortunately as we did, there was a toddler who had had more sun than they could handle and started shaking and passed out. It was so sad and scary but then the lead violin from the band ran down the stairs to help out. Sooner enough there was a crowd gathering so we decided to give them their space and go inside.

As I recall there was actually a little bit of a line and the group of people in front of us were trying to chug their margaritas before they made it to the front of the line.

IMG_4764.jpg

After our enjoyable chase of Donald around May-he-co we wandered outside to pick up our rings. Which turned out like this

IMG_4778.jpg

We waited a little longer for the rest of our group to catch up so Sam and KC tried on some sombreros from Norway.

IMG_4763.jpg

IMG_4762.jpg

This is where the two stories collide. Sombreros. So from there we decided to go and use our fast passes for

IMG_4766.jpg

Magic!!!

IMG_4765.jpg

Hidden Mickey (:

IMG_4767.jpg

We have 2 photos of Andy like this now. I will take one every trip until he is a little old man

IMG_4769.jpg

After an invigorating ride we decided to cool off in the little spray car wash outside. Fun!!!

300804_540924736953_162200254_30797644_2171267_n.jpg

After we were all misted and feeling good we decided to head off and do something that we might regret forever…

Tune In Next Time!!!

So I don't know if anyone really cares BUT I am going to be updating regularly for as long as possible because I am on winter break and once I get back I get started working on the spring musical Little Women (which I will be playing the role of Beth March: SO EXCITED :goodvibes) which means I will be completely bogged down. So I am going to get this thing as far along as possible

That’s One Taste That Can’t Be Un-tasted:
August 19, 2011

When we last left off “The Eights” were on their way to do something they might possibly regret forever. Now how many of you can guess what that is? Does the title help? No? How about this…

IMG_4777.jpg

Still no…? Ok it doesn’t get any clearer than this

BSC_4808.jpg

So as you can see we made our way to what is known as (or use to be known as)the cool club, I miss the igloo that used to be the entrance with the creepy dead guy in the freezer and the SNOW (which at this moment buffalo is really lacking, who would have guessed)!!!

Anyways, we needed a way to cool off of the hottest day in Disney history so we figured why not guzzle some free pop.

We walked across that oh so sticky floor to one of the pop dispensers and started tasting the delicacies from around the world. Then for some reason one of us decided to have a Beverly drinking contest…

Anywhere you go on the disbaords you will find tons of reactions to this “bitter drink that is suppose to stimulate the appetite before dinner”. Here is how “The Eights” would rate it.

So the plan was to fill one of those little cups about halfway with the delectable apatite stimulating concoction. Those cups seem small, but let me tell you, once you are trying to down a half a glass of the weirdest tasting pop you have ever had it is not so small AT ALL!!!

First up we have Andy, glass half full he decided to throw it back. Apparently he thought that rolling his eyes into the back of his head would make the taste a little less terrible.

299305_540924871683_162200254_30797651_1555216_n.jpg

And the result is…

317484_540924926573_162200254_30797654_5339883_n.jpg

Not so much.

Next was Sam, she kind of psyched herself out and I think that made her hate it even more. Before…

317148_540925265893_162200254_30797670_3236033_n.jpg

And after…

315589_540925340743_162200254_30797673_6357798_n.jpg

For the heck of it why not one more…

314948_540925360703_162200254_30797674_4553426_n.jpg

Sam’s reactions were THE BEST so here is another just to show you how much she loved it

296479_540925410603_162200254_30797676_4363737_n.jpg

Man that is one taste that can’t be un-tasted

Next up was Ma, she was ready, she wasn’t going to let it get her!!!

299099_540925051323_162200254_30797661_4827009_n.jpg

And… it didn’t, she didn’t mind it at all

262473_540925126173_162200254_30797664_2688567_n.jpg

Lame.

Ok moving on, next was Adam. I thought he was going to call us all sissy’s. Let’s see how he did…

300904_540924951523_162200254_30797655_681872_n.jpg

How ya like that Beverly Adam?!

303186_540925021383_162200254_30797659_6683132_n.jpg

Huh… not so much.

Moment of truth. It was my turn. I was terrified. I consider myself to be pretty adventurous, but with the reactions some of them were having I didn’t want to do it. But I gave into the peer pressure, hey everyone else was doing it. Might as well join in!!! As you can see I went in with caution…

309737_540925156113_162200254_30797665_4328160_n.jpg

My response…

314768_540925201023_162200254_30797667_1244710_n.jpg

Eh it’s not too bad. I was more terrified of how badly it was going to taste and it was nothing. But I’ll stick to the German Krest. Mmmmm mmmm, that stuff is good.

Up next was Danielle. She has had it before and didn’t like it but decided to give it another chance since she didn’t really remember it. Here we go

308957_540925495433_162200254_30797679_213342_n.jpg

Her result?

309513_540925530363_162200254_30797681_1378027_n.jpg

Apparently slapping herself in the face was more enjoyable than drinking that stuff.

And last but certainly not least we have KC (Pa decided not to join in at this part I guess). He decided to jump right in because I don’t have a before shot of him… Here’s how much he like it

301079_540924846733_162200254_30797650_2323807_n.jpg

Not a Fan.

So the outcome was: 2 not totally againt//5 never drinking that again//1 undecided.

SO on your next trip to the world I dare you to take this Beverly Challenge. Fill a glass half way and chung it as quickly as you can and make sure you get photos of the before and after faces and bring them back here and show me!! Or if you have a Beverly Story to share please feel free I would love to know where you fall in our tally.

After that experience the family decided to treat themselves to some shopping. I traded my vinilimation in the mousegears store and the rest of the family decided to jump on the trading bandwagon and Ma, Kc, and Sam all bought one to start trading. I am such a trendsetter.

When I traded I reluctantly traded my Norwegian Friend for a cutester wearing raind boots which I loved because I wear my rain boots so often that I have worn holes in two pairs of them already.

IMG_4770.jpg

Sam ended up with a really creepy one. I told her that she had to trade it right away, which she did. Smile and pretend you like it…

Screenshot2011-12-20at84723PM.png

Kc was next to open his. He wanted a Donald one really badly and guess what he ended up with…

Screenshot2011-12-20at84805PM.png

Lucky. Ma was last to open hers. And she got one that I LOVED

Screenshot2011-12-20at84833PM.png

When I was little I was TERRIFIED of all of the characters, like one of those “please stay away from me and I won’t scream” kind of babies, but for some reason when I met Chip and Dale (in their rescue ranger clothes) I was not afraid of them. That is probably my earliest Disney memory as a 4 year old, I walked up to them so nonchalantly, just like “hey guys how you doing” and my father was so surprised. Moral of the story Chip and Dale are basically my favorites now (aside from Minnie mouse, Pluto and Ariel of course. Who can pick just one favorite right?).

After we watched everyone open and immediately trade their Vinilimation we decided to split up because we had dinner reservations to get to and we had to go around the world to get there!

Tune In Next Time!!!

And the it happened. Danielle told us she left her Key to the Kingdom Card back at the room….

Totally not my fault! I asked Adam if he had it in his wallet and he said yes. :headache: Instead he had our paper tickets and the other ones were still in the plastic bag from Typhoon Lagoon.

And I know I took more pictures of Le Cellier food. I’ll have to go through the ~1,000 pictures I took last trip and find them. lol

Welcome to America: We Have Guns & Fast Food
August 19, 2011

During the last installment of “The Crazy Eights” we had a not so enjoyable time drinking some Beverly at the Cool Club and the rest of the family jumped on my vinilimation trading train.

From there is was once again time to split up for another round of who can stuff their face the most!!! I know, it seems like we were just eating, next time we are going to have to arrange for some late night dinner reservations.

After waving goodbye to half of our party we were off to our reservation all the way around the world. So we started off on our trek, and I know I have said this a million times but this was literally the HOTTEST day in Disney vacation history. So hot that we made it from Mouse Gears to the Port of Entry shop where we went inside to browse the merchandise aka soak up that beloved air conditioning.

While we were there I think we stopped and looked at a few things and then I used a mirror to come out my snarly hair (I don’t know why I remember that). So once we refreshed we were off. I was hopping to stop in all of the countries look around and enjoy. We stopped outside the store to take a photo of Andy and I with the France sign outside because we have always dreamed of going there…

IMG_4779.jpg

IMG_4780.jpg

So then we walked around the World Showcase at the quickest pace we could without melting. We decided to forgo Canada (we live in Buffalo and Canada is only a short drive away, we can go there anytime). We were booking it in hopes of finding some more air conditioning. As I recall we went through the shops in the UK Pavilion because KC wanted to check out The Beatles things that they had for sale. I showed him some cups that he really liked but they were like $50 (good news, I found them at Target and got them for him for Christmas for $15)

We stopped on the bridge to get a photo of Andy and I in front of the Eiffel Tower. I wish I looked better in it, it makes me sad that we didn’t take another one… lol oh well all the more reason to take another trip!!!

IMG_4782.jpg

We decided to pass all other countries and head straight to America. We laughed when we went into the store because once we looked around there wasn’t anything really worth buying in there and so Andy said something along the lines of “Welcome to America all we have is fast food and guns”.

We left the store and I wanted to see the American Adventure, I remember on the trip we took when I was in 10th grade I was a huge history fanatic and LOVED the show so yea, I was going to make them all suffer through it. Sadly, the next show wasn’t starting until 10 minutes before we were scheduled for dinner. BUT as we were walking by they told us that the Voice of Liberty would be performing shortly so we went in and decided to listen to them while soaking up all that great music not to mention air conditioning!!!
So while we waited for them to come out, we found the nearest empty bench and had a photo shoot for course!!! At this point we had been up since 6:45 so we were a little loopy and starving…

So a dreaming of sleep photo shoot it was

IMG_4783.jpg

I don’t have the slightest idea what I am doing in this one but like I said we were exhausted.

IMG_4784.jpg

This one Sam told me to sleep like I was Miley Cyrus (in one episode of Hannah Montana she is having a “good dream” and it makes her smile, we always laugh about it)

IMG_4785.jpg

This is our rendition of it again

IMG_4786.jpg

Then we saw a lady actually curled up and sleeping on one of the benches. Doesn’t she know you are not allowed to close your eyes at any moment of a Disney Vacation!!! I tried to snip a picture but it didn’t turn out very well…

IMG_4788.jpg

Shortly there after the singers came out and we soon realized that we sat on the wrong side of the room, that must be why that was the only bench available in the room.

IMG_4793.jpg

I am obsessed with their dresses. At school I am a costumer of sorts and I would love to make/wear a dress like this *fingers crossed for my Little Women costume* Also I must add that I was OBSESSED with the girl in the blue dresses wig. I tried to take a close up but it didn’t turn out for the remainder of the performance we called her hair.

As they neared the I looked to my left and there were the two cutest children in a Tiana and a Belle dress dancing and playing together while they sang the national anthem. Cutest thing I have ever seen!!! Once again I tried to snipe a picture that didn’t turn out. But let me tell you, they were precious!!!

IMG_4794.jpg

When they were done singing we made our way outside and I had them pose in front of the fountain. I was all about the photo ops on this trip.

IMG_4795.jpg

If you look closely in the background there is a girl in a bright blue shirt with her shoes and socks off sticking her feet in the fountain (THAT’S HOW HOT IT WAS) shortly there after her whole family joined in and in no time the friendly guy who invited us in to listen to the singers was yelling at them to get their feet out of the fountain and put their shoes back on if I recall correctly he started off saying “shoes must be worn at all moments when in the parks” and when they didn’t get the hint he started scolding them. Don’t mess with America!

As we ran away from American we found ourselves at our dinning destination

IMG_4797.jpg

I was so excited for this dinner. It was my choice because I love France and the Eiffel tower and have always wanted to eat there! Now was the chance, we gave the nice girl outside our name and waited for our names to be called.

When our name was called I got really nervous, I am ALWAYS nervous to eat in EPCOT because of the authenticity of the waiters I am terrified of making a fool out of myself. So our lovely French waiter (who was really cute and so nice) brought us our bread.

IMG_4798.jpg

It was pretty busy in there as I recall and it was actually pretty loud. Our friendly waiter took our drink orders and as we waited patiently we took some photos.

IMG_4799.jpg

IMG_4800.jpg

I didn’t realize how close together the tables in place were and let me tell you we were SURROUNDED by French speaking people. It made me even more nervous. I was hungry and wanted some bread but we weren’t very sure how to attack it. Sam was so kind as to cut us each some chunks of bread

IMG_4801.jpg

And shortly after Sam started sawing away at it our waiter made his way back with our drinks and for some reason we started saying “he’s coming, he’s coming! stop sawing the bread!!” So she quickly swept the crummy mess under our plates and thanked him for our drinks. As we looked around the room at our many French neighbors we noticed that they were all just ripping the bread apart and Sam said “well maybe I should have done it that way”.

Ok now here is what you were waiting for the food pictures!!! I must admit for months prior to our trip Sam and I sat up all hours of the night on the restaurant boards searching through photos of the places we wanted to try and the photos we saw we how we picked where to eat.

I ordered off of the 3 course menu (more bang for my buck) because I was DYING to try the French onion soup, as of last year I was obsessed with it and the way everyone raved about it I couldn’t pass it up.

IMG_4802.jpg

Let me tell you, the soup wasn’t bad but hot soup on a hot day (even if you are sitting in air conditioning) not the best idea that I had. Man I was dying of heat. Anyways as I finished up my soup someone stopped by our table!!!

IMG_4803.jpg

It was REMMY which was another reason that we scheduled the reservation at the time we did because he only comes out at certain times. We were so excited to see him!!! When the waiter rolled over his cart he asked us where we were from and we all just sat there for a second in shock like “Oh my gosh where are we from…” it was that anxiety I tell ya! Sam quickly responded with “BUFFALO!” he must have seen the terror in our faces because he said something along the lines of “This isn’t a test, but if this is a witness protection kind of thing we promise not to tell anyone” we laughed and Remmy gave us his recommendation, which he apparently said “extra dessert” but with the accent all I heard was “eggs” so after he walked away I asked everyone why he recommended eggs for dessert and they all laughed at me.

So back to the food, it arrived shortly after Remmy was wheeled away. KC and I Both ordered the Macaroni and Cheese which we both thought had an over abundance of nutmeg in and tasted like a bad Christmas cookie so between eating the soup and trying to shove that down when I didn’t really like it and attempting to save room for dessert I didn’t even eat half of it. It was so cheesey and rich and I wanted to like it but the nutmeg was out of control.

IMG_4804.jpg

Surprise. surprise Andy got some more chicken which he loved and I kicked myself in the butt for not getting.

IMG_4805.jpg

And another Surprise Sam got steak, she is all about getting her steak and getting her money’s worth. I just asked her what she thought of it and she still raves about it, she said the green beans were so delicious and oh the potatoes, one of the best cut of steak she has had. She would totally go back if it wasn’t for me disliking my meal. She got he sauce on the side which she said she would do again because even though it was tasty it would have ran all over everything and she wouldn’t have liked it as much.

IMG_4806.jpg

Before we could even fully digest our food the dessert was presented to us. Our waiter was so cute he would stand to the left side and place our place ever so gently in front of us. At one point he went to refill my drink and replaced the a full glass but before he took the empty one away he held it out to me as a gesture to take the straw so I could reuse it but I didn’t get the hint… ugh the anxiety was really taking hold of me at this classy restaurant.

So for dessert Andy and I got the chocolate cake which was actually pretty good (not as good as sunshine seasons because it was a little more grainy?) also I am not a fan of strawberry so the sauce was a turn off.

IMG_4808.jpg

KC got creme brulee, which he didn’t end up finishing because he was stuffed from the heavy mac and cheese.

IMG_4809.jpg

Sam had the Creps she wasn’t a fan she said that the apples were to smushy and chewy for her taste. BUT she did eat all of it, getting her moneys worth.

IMG_4810.jpg

As I looked out the window it had noticed that the skies hard turned REALLY gray and it was so windy so we decided we better get going. I went to use the bathroom which might I add was SO tiny.

So we got our bill and saw that we would have spent close to $170!!! Holy moly for four people, thank goodness for that dinning plan

IMG_4811.jpg

As we gathered our belongings and just as we did the skies opened up and we were caught in a downpour. We put on our ponchos and we dashed to the front of the park because we were off to meet up with the rest of “The Eights” for a crazy night!!

Tune In Next Time!!!

Happy New Year everyone. pixiedust: I hope that you all had a happy and healthy holiday season. And thank you once again for joining in on this crazy trip report and i hope that you continue to enjoy it and if you are a newcomer WELCOME!!!

A Night of Firsts
August 19, 2011

We dashed as fast as we could without wiping out all the way from France all the way to the front of the park in order to catch the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. As we waited I took a photo of my favorite mode of Disney transportation (I posted that to facebook and within seconds people were liking it, gotta love the monorail)

295819_10150747315615507_859095506_19765102_3436084_n.jpg

So we hopped on drenched and sitting in our cold plastic capes trying to keep warm and salvage are snarly hair. Sam and I didn’t want our vera’s getting ruing so we figured we would tie up our ponchos so that they would stay dry. We got stuck on the monorail for a while. When we finally made it to the transportation center the rain was so bad everyone made a mad dash from the EPCOT monorail down around and up to the Magic Kingdom one.

So while we were enjoying the rain run Danielle and Adam (possible Ma and Pa) were enjoying some food at one of our favorite quick service places Pinocchio’s Village Haus with Adam’s new friend.

319686_541072306223_162200254_30800426_6508407_n.jpg

By the look of it they had a pretty good meal. Once again maybe she can do a report in a report and post her pictures on here.

318233_541072296243_162200254_30800425_4880555_n.jpg

We made it through baggage check made a quick restroom stop and decided that it was raining to hard to try to run to anything so we did some shopping on main street. There was so much rain but when it finally let up we made our way to

IMG_4812.jpg

Andy had never been here before and it was shelter from the drizzle so we walked in. The line was not to bad but it took a while. So we took some pictures. In his first one Andy’s hair is pretty drenched.

IMG_4816.jpg

Basically the theme of this trip was, any day Alicia straightens her hair mother nature is not going to be accepting that and there fore make it rain.

IMG_4817.jpg

modeling out Mickey ears!!!

IMG_4818.jpg

Finally we made out way through the door to the monster world

IMG_4821.jpg

And as we crammed in like sardines we watched the pre show video.

IMG_4822.jpg

We each took a shot at our Roz impersonations, KC does it the best and soon we were headed in. We didn’t make it onto the screen at any point but the people that they picked were good sports and made the show really funny. One of the people on the screen had a somewhat obnoxious child who wanted to be on the screen really bad and would make funny faces and jump around in the background all of a sudden the entire audience burst out laughing because as he was doing so he fell off the bench and for a quick second disappeared from the screen and then popped back up like nothing happened.

From there we moved onto

IMG_4823.jpg

One of the family favorites!!! Ma and Pa ended up in the car behind us and we got separated.

But the four of us had a really nice time on our tour of Tomorrowland. This really is one of my favorites it’s so relaxing and has such a nice breeze on a hot muggy Dinsey night. Also I love going through space mountain.

IMG_4825.jpg

IMG_4826.jpg

Andy loves to wave to people as we go through the stores.

IMG_4831.jpg

From here we headed to another one of Disney’s murder attractions and another one of my personal favorites. and it’s another one Andy had never seen before so off we were to…

IMG_4837.jpg

We were all very excited!! It really just melts my heart I love it so much. There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow shinning at the end of everyday (:

DSC04144-1.jpg

We made it out alive and smiling. Well for the most part. Pa and Andy kind of used it as a naptime because we were exhausted from being awake since 6:45 that morning. But there was no time to stop!! We had to keep going after all Magic Kingdom was open until 2am.

Off we were to our next stop, which was Space Mountain. But this is where my camera dies so we were relying on Danielle at this point lol

DSC04142.jpg

Longest line ever. We were excited because we thought we were going to be able to play the queue games but the line wasn’t backed up that far. We ended up spending a lot of time in the blue snake line that just serpentines so many times. Ugh we were so tired I was falling asleep in line but not Sam she was excited and ready to go.

DSC04145.jpg

For sure if you are falling asleep this is the ride to get on it will wake you up so fast and give you energy to last the rest of the night. It was our first time on it in a while because it had been closed for refurb on our last trip down. MAN did it make my eyes water.

We got off and checked out our picture. It was clear that Sam knew where it was because she was ready and posed.

294398_541072750333_162200254_30800438_819217_n.jpg

And then there was me…

296138_541072735363_162200254_30800437_3766873_n.jpg

By the end of the trip I just started covering my face because I ALWAYS looked stupid in these.

So from Space Mountain we stopped in Fantasyland on our way Frontierland so that KC could buy the shirt he had been wanting.

He put it on as soon as he paid for it right over the clothes he was already wearing. Then we were off once again. In search of the wildest ride in the wilderness!!!!

We showed them our key to the kingdom card and got in the basically non-existent line. That is honestly one of my favorite parts about this line. If you walk just slow enough walking through all the rooms twists and turns it is basically a walk on late at night.

Before we knew it we were waiting to be seat!!! Look how happy we all were running on no sleep. *Warning Alicia Face*

Andy and I ended up in the very last row, which I thought was no big deal until one of the guys waiting in line ahead of us said that that was the best seat at night because you get tossed around so much. I was terrified at that point and as the ride started I began to scream. OH MY GOSH that was the best ride ever, I always want to ride in the back!!! That guy did not lie it was AMAZING.

So then we did some Splash Mountain with the sad dead birds on the river boat. If my camera would have had some life left I would have gotten some pictures but alas it did not.

From there we moved onto Pirates of the Caribbean which I am terrfied of since I learned about George years ago. Sam and I swear we saw a guy standing on one of the porches in the ride on our last trip. Poop my pants. So when the ride stopped this time I almost cried. I have never been a huge fan of this ride because of the animatronics.

Then we made our way to the Jungle Cruise because I heard that it is a completely different experience at night. So we had to give it a try and let me tell you if you haven’t done it I would totally recommend that you do!!! The way they have it lit and the way the fog comes off the water on a hot night is so cool. Of course I may have been close to sleeping at various points because the speakers on our boat weren’t working very well.

So after that sleepy ride Ma, Pa, Danielle and Adam headed back to the room while the rest of us headed off for one more ride on Space Mountain. After that we debated doing more but we could barely keep our eyes open. We moseyed to the front of the park and left around 1:30am. We waited a while for the bus and the rest of the night is a blur because I pretty sure we all passed out on the way back to the resort. After all we had yet another early morning ahead of us and 6:20 comes early when you don’t get to bed until 2:30.

Tune In Next Time!!!
