Going to the Lodge
August 18, 2011
So this is going to be a great part of the trip report, I hope you are all excited!! This is the part where I will start to retell parts of the trip I was not on.
For 6 of our 8 days we set up reservations at separate table service restaurants for many reasons. This is the first one that I will write about where I did not eat any of the food you will see!! So here goes, me trying to recall a night I didn’t have!!!
In my last post we left off with Disney Quest, we are going to take a step back in time…
This was the night of dinner at The Wilderness Lodge’s Whispering Canyon Café for Ma, Pa, Sam and Kc. (Andy, Danielle, Adam and Myself did not like it that much when we went last time so we opted out).
From the pictures it looks like they checked in and then went to explore a little.
Here is Pa, he is a Native American so my guess is that’s why he got the totem pole picture. (we have a totem pole in our from yard, I wish it was full of Disney characters like this one!!)
Next they wandered into a store where KC tried on a hat then he decided to Pose with this shirt?
Look that the lobby of this place!!
I would love to stay here in the winter, I feel like there are so many nooks and cranny’s, I would love to curl up with some hot chocolate in front of a fire place and just relax. Of course as I type that I realize I’m from NY and picturing a cold snowy day perfect for hot coco, when in reality it’s Florida so I’d be so warm for me I would be out in shorts haha. Anyways….
The lovebirds took a stroll over the bridge, just like in the musical The Music Man.
Then they took a stroll outside to take in some strategically placed streams and nature. Oh, look at that!!
I love that the water from inside the hotel runs into the pool
This is a nice shot of Sam on a bridge with the warm Florida sun cascading in around her..
Then their tour was abruptly ended when thy were called back inside to chow down.
This part of the night I remember Sam telling me about. They had a 4 person table that that exactly 3 Indian seats and 1 cowboy. They made pa sit in the cowboy seat. That’s my family’s humor.
Pa showing off his chair
Sam feeling accomplished.
Now for some food!!
To start Sam and KC got some blue Milkshakes.
Sam said it tasted like “blue goo” which is a type of ice cream a place near us sells for those of you who don’t know what that means. She loved it!! And highly recommends it, as you can see…
Pa got the Skillet, before they left he said he wasn’t going to get that again, but surprise surprise, he did anyways.
First comes some delicious salad (I remember that from last time, pretty god stuff)
Then the Skillet itself with it’s meat and BBQ sauciness
The other 3 got the steak. Sam loved it on our last trip, talked about it literally every time we have steak at home. Not sure how she felt about it this time, but we will say she loved it once again!
They we all stuffed so they got apple pie to go
Then came some fun!! Kiddy horse racing!!!
Oh look at the light fixture!!
And then the pictures end with a dead beetle, which I won’t show you.
And that in a nutshell was their night at Whispering Canyon Café. I hope you enjoyed
Tune In Next Time!!!
