People are crazy that is all I have to say! If you bought an item 2 years ago for 199 and I can now buy it NEW with a coupon for 159, I am not going to pay 180 for it used for two years. And if we make plans to meet to buy something, and you can't make it, you need to call before I get there. And if you advertise something as "like new" or "barely used", it should at least be clean. Maybe invest the 1 minute to clean it. And it we agree on a price and I come meet you, the price better be what we agreed upon when I get there I am not giving you a dollar more.

So much for that! Going to the store with my coupon! Not worth the hassle or dealing with all the icky people.

Aw, that stinks. I've bought several things on craigslist over the last year or so, but I only proceed if it looks like it's in great condition and it's a great price. Like you I've seen lots of used items priced pretty close to what it would cost me new on sale or with a coupon. Of course then I would just buy it new, not sure who they get to buy their stuff.

I also just started selling a handful of items a few weeks ago. I was nervous to start, but it's really pretty simple. The biggest pain was taking the photos to add and uploading them, but it didn't take very long.

Don't give up on craigslist based on one or two crazy sellers. :thumbsup2

I hear you. I had cleaned out and sold a bunch of stuff on CL a few years ago and had a great experience. Now I see tons of junk, normal used stuff going for retail prices and people who want to pay next to nothing. I've kind of given up on buying and selling there. I'd bet it's regional on what the market it is like.

When I last moved, I unloaded a bunch of stuff on cl at dirty cheap prices, but it was such a hassle, people calling at all hours acting interested and then not showing up, people asking you to hold or take a check, asking for delivery ... It can be a lot of work.

Oh, I don't give out my phone number. I guess I've been very lucky and haven't had any no shows yet. I did have one person that wanted me to meet her somewhere about 15 minutes away from where I live, I didn't even respond. I am very clear in my ad that it is pick up from my location only. And cash!

Although Craigslist may seem like a hassle, it does have it's pros! Just by selling and buying items you can easily make $200 in a month! This month so far, I've made about 497. (Mainly because I've been looking every other day to see if there are any new items.) But as you have stated there are the difficult people out there who try to scam and decide to do a no-show. (I've learned the hard way, sometimes even waiting an hour and a half because I thought person was going to show. ) But I've learned to try to get the person to meet close to where I was located, maybe 10mins or so away, so that if they do decide to pull a no-show, I haven't traveled far. So, don't be quick to give up on Craigslist, just be cautious of when you talk to meet up with someone. There are some good people that still work through the site! :)

Ive never sold anything but Ive bought plenty of things off CL and had great luck with it every time.
