Covid testing sites near or in Disney

We tested at Maingate site Sunday AM, arriving right at opening. We were in an out in less than 25 minutes, with results about 15 minutes later. The line corrals are long, I assume sometimes they are quite full, but not on Sunday. Also, don't try to skip walking through the entire corral. Even though the place was empty, two groups behind us were yelled at for doing so and asked to go back to the beginning.

You get called to the first window, show them your patientportalfl.com account on your phone, and then you go to the next window and they tell you how to do the test, you do it, and that's that.

Thanks for this info, this is so helpful to us planning!

this is not correct. All PCR tests are free and paid by your insurance/State(if you don’t have insurance). This was part of the CARES Act. You might have to pay for Rapid Tests.

Only state sites, so this is a bit misleading, IMO.

Its my understanding that state-run testing sites are free to all as part of the CARES Act. If its a non-state run site (i.e. Walgreens, urgent care, etc), then many insurance companies will only cover the cost if you are symptomatic and/or referred by your doctor.

I looked into this because we are not symptomatic and were hoping to do the test to end our quarantine early, but there were no state run testing sites near us so we would have had to pay upwards of $300 for it. But, it doesn't matter because its effective beginning Wednesday so we are not eligible.

As PP said, its both. You have to obtain a test within 3 days of leaving FL. Then quarantine in NY for 3 days when you get home. Then go get another test in NY on day 4. If both the test from FL and the test in NY are negative, you are done with quarantine.

I'm waiting to see more details from NY, but in MA, the paperwork says the test has to be taken within 3 days of leaving the state you're in (FL, for example) but you're not required to have the results in hand when you board the plane. The paperwork you are required to fill out upon returning home has you check a box that you completed the test, but do not have the results. The health department then follows up with you to obtain the results. Presumably, NY will have a similar approach and will just need you to produce two negative test results (one from FL and one from NY) to support the end of your quarantine. With testing sites taking 3-5 days to provide results, they couldn't require you to take a test within 3 days of leaving and then expect you to change travel arrangements if you don't have the results yet. It would make this change impractical for people and would be difficult for people to do.

MA will also let you quarantine, or take the test at home and wait for the result. No need to have anything to board the plane, unless the state you are in requires it.

I just called PA Dept of Health and either test will be sufficient.

The Rapid Test isn't reliable unless you are showing symptoms, I thought? It only catches the most obvious cases of COVID, to rule out that it's not something else? Does PA just want to cover their butts by accepting any test?

I’m sure the answer is yes, but is the testing for US residents only?

Isn't international travel being limited right now?

Has anyone done either the Maingate site or the Convention Center site recently? Trying to decide which will be the shorter wait for a family of 4, and we have a rental car so could do either. Going Saturday morning.

31 of 47 or so European countries, China, Brazil, and Iran. So, most of Europe, the largest country in Asia, and the largest country in South America.
That's what i said, minus Iran
We have plenty of south American and Canadian visitors right now

We used the Maingate site today for family of 4. Arrived at 11am. Took 2 hours. Long line and not a lot of staff. We head home today and wanted to rope drop AK. Probably would have had a shorter wait if we had been there right when they opened. The line grew while we were there. If they continued testing at the same pace I would say the line was 3-4 hours by the time we got out of there at 1pm.

First, anyone can be tested for free regardless of citizenship or insurance coverage.
We opted to test at the OC convention center so we would not have to get out of the car and stand around waiting. We arrived about 9:20am (they opened at 9) and the sign said the wait was about an hour. It was actually 2 hours and 45 minutes! The wait time did not change while we were there, it was the same when we left. It was very well managed but looooong. Had I known I would have tested at a private site that accepted my insurance (which fortunately covers all Covid testing).
Fortunately we are all negative (after 6 days at Disney the preceding week).
You do need to wait 5 days for the Rapid test to be accurate so ideally you would quarantine for 5 days, get a Rapid test, and then know you were clean.

It’s more reliable when you’re showing symptoms, but it still has a decent failure rate.

Even the PCR test isn’t reliable until several days after exposure.

I don’t know what all of the states’ rules are (I’m in Illinois and the only place here with any kind of travel “rules” is the city of Chicago, which isn’t anywhere near me). But I will say there is literally no reason to require a test for re-admittance to a state. Just because you’re negative at the time of the test doesn’t mean you haven’t become infectious in the meantime.

That's odd - my mom lives in a 55+ community, and most of the units are empty because they are owned by Canadians and the Canadians don't want to be in Florida right now. She said the place is at about 1/3 occupancy, with no one from Canada.

Anyone have a PCR test recently at the Maingate testing site? Wondering how long the results take? Canadians need a negative PCR test 72 hours before our flight back home now. Wondering if that will be enough time. Also, if we uber there, should we have our driver wait for us? Or is there a place to be picked up after we walk through the testing line? Trying to figure out all of these logistics!🤪

No, you wouldn't want to have the Uber driver wait there. You'll be in line for a while.

They don't really. They tell you to keep a copy of the negative test on you at all times and they send an auto text every day for 14 days. That's it. There's no way to submit your results after you complete the form.

So question... I just got my Day 4 test done today. Assuming I'm negative, once I get that do I just keep responding C to the texts for the rest of the days and keep screen shots of my negative results on my in case they're waiting at the door when I come home?

I know it's been said that the testing site at Maingate is open to anyone but does that just mean Americans? Are Canadians able to go there as well? Canada has stated as of January 7th in order to board the plane to enter into Canada you have to have a negative test done within 72 hours of boarding the flight and just wondering if we are able to use the testing site as well. Also turn around time for results is usually quick there?

trying to read all the posts in thread. But a little confused..can kids get tested too. I thought I saw adults only..are there just 2 testing sights around Disney World. There are 8 of us total.
thank you...

A fellow Canadian here looking for the same answers. From what I've read it may take 3 days to get the PCR results back. Our plan is to get the rapid test as well as proof we got the test, just incase the PCR test isn't back in time. If worse comes to worse, I guess we are driving back to Saskatchewan! 🤪 When are you going?

That's what I've been seeing in my facebook group, 3-5 days. We go mid April so hoping that they change it by then but want to be prepared. I know our Premier has stated that they want to bring the rapid test pilot from Alberta to Ontario asap but who knows now. I also told my husband maybe we should just drive back, lol. What baffles me though is the test may come back negative 72 hrs before boarding the plane however you aren't required to quarantine those 3 days so what's to say you won't get it in those 3 days. I personally think they should do a rapid test prior to boarding the plane, instead of arriving at the airport 3-4 hrs before your flight arrive 5 and take the test. We also have to still quarantine for 14 days when returning if with the negative test.
