COVID super spreading family we know **Our friend has passed away**

Yeah. We don’t know what the long term effects are from COVID but we also don’t know what the long term effects are from the vaccine. A real pickle. We might as well just hunker down until 2030.

Well, Bill Gates just came out and said we'll basically be locked down into 2022. I assume this includes those who take the vaccines.

I'm pretty used to how @Jrb1979 posts and I don't think he was being awful. I can see how it comes across that way, but I understand where he's coming from. It's a fact that many people didn't believe in the virus until it affected them personally. I am thinking that was his point.
That is my point. I didn't mean it to come across that way. I'm just upset and a bit angry at the many who are careless and don't seem to care.

No one is saying to stay locked in our homes. You can still live life but take precautions. Following the CDC guidelines, wear a mask, social distancing, limit family gatherings and don't travel.

As I said before on one of the many covid threads, people are going to do what they want. My community has a Facebook page and you should see the posts. Groups of people caroling door to door without masks, shopping indoor markets shoulder to shoulder without a mask in sight. They refuse to go about things safely, but will be the first ones screaming if the schools close or their kid's class has to quarantine.

But they will do what they want. And I will do what I feel I need to. I don't want to gamble with this since we have NO support system in town. No one to help us if my husband and I get sick. My daughter is only 10. I am so very grateful that kids getting super sick is rare, but she will suffer if we get really sick.

Anyway, I know this thread has gone OT and there are so many covid threads that devolve into the same back and forth. It's exhausting. Sorry for the rant, @Dan Murphy!

This guy who I have to sit next to told me his in laws are coming over for Christmas. I started yelling at him, “Your wife is going to kill us all! Tell her to slam the door on her parents!!!”

I started to lecture him about what I am doing and how what I am doing is perfectly safe but what everyone else is doing is irresponsible. He was not receptive

Based on the "2 weeks to flatten the curve" chanted last March, if anyone thinks things will go back to normal in 2021 they are in complete denial.

Bill Gates:

"There will be… By the summer of 2021, the rich countries will have more vaccine coverage than other countries. So, the rich countries will be going mostly back to normal. But I still think because the virus will be in the world, we still will be somewhat conservative about large public events, we will still have some mask-wearing. "

I get it people are going to people. Its the main reason we are in the situation we are.

Tell him he’s the reason we won’t be seeing my 93 year old in laws, because it is because of people like him.

We are already 37 weeks in on a 2 week to flatten the curve and people just went along with it. Why wouldn't people continue to go along with it, especially reading on what people's opinions are on this board.

Exactly.

Ok

We DID flatten the curve! My county was one of the hardest hit at first, hospitals were overwhelmed. And then they weren’t, because people were not gathering. Now our hospitals are full again.

The reason you aren’t seeing your 93 year old in laws is because you’re both choosing not to see each other. Have a wonderful day.
Actually the reason is DH’s sister is a nurse at a hospital by them, caring for covid patients, and she’d kill us if we visited with them, She is very famIliad with their health and has said she doubts they would survive covid.
