Okay we have never stayed on at a MK resort. We are DVC people and had to change our trip from Dec 05 to June 30-July 5 due to my sister going to Houston for cancer treatment. DVC had nothing available in the villas. Our home resort is BCV and we love it to death. So we traded in the points for the Poly. Couple of questions about this:

1. Where's the best place to see the fireworks at the Poly and do they have the music playing?
2. (this maybe a dumb question) Is there two different monorail lines (one resorts and one park)? I thought I heard somewhere there is a resort monorail so we don't have to wait to get to the poly going through the Transportation Center. We have two different PSs for things at the GF and I didn't know how long it would take us to get there. Also if we're trying to get to MK I know the monorail goes to the Transportation Center first is the thing going to be so packed we can't get on it.
3. To get to Epcot do we take the monorail to the Transporation Center and then the monorail to Epcot.
4. Anything else we need to know about the Poly??????

Thanks for all the help. We're very excited about staying here even through we will terrible miss walking to Epcot.

1. We love to watch the fireworks from a little hill right by the beach at Poly, there is a walkway going up the hill. It's beautiful with a view of the lake and the castle. I don't think the fireworks music was playing at the Poly but I could be wrong. That little hill is great, we saw 2 weddings on the hill in one trip!
2. There are two different monorails, a resort monorail which stops at TTC, Poly, GF, MK, CR, then back to TTC. We didn't have many problems with the monorail being overly crowded but we have always gone during the slow season. In the mornings before MK opens it gets pretty crowded but we have never had to wait for a spot to get on.
3. Depending on which building you stay in at Poly it just a short walk to TTC. On our last 2 trips we found it faster to walk to TTC to get on the monorails then to walk to the monorail station inside the great ceremonial house.

Poly is a beautiful resort, be sure to request a room with a balcony, some of the second floor rooms don't actually have balconies. Also on our last trip in Jan we were told that all deluxe resort rooms now have refrigerators and ours did not when we arrived, we just called the front desk and they sent one up within minutes.

Another thing, around 9pm there is an electrical water pagent that floats by the monorail resorts. We thought it was pretty nice to watch, kinda tacky but different and enjoyable. And for the pools, if you don't have kids try to the quiet pool, its much more relaxing. And be sure to try to Tonga toast for breakfast, delicious!

We loved taking the ferry boat from Polynesian to MK. It stops at GF and then on to MK. Very relaxing.
WE were in Tokelau and loved it. We watched the fireworks from the knoll at the end of our bldg. No music there but I think if you watch from the beach over by the pool area you can hear the piped in music.
We loved the EWP. One of our favorite things to do there. Try to catch it at least once.

As far as the monorail goes...yes there are two different runs. One runs clockwise and stops the resorts...Polynesian, GF, MK, CR, TTC, Polynesian. The other runs counterclockwise and goes between MK and TTC only. So, you should be fine using the resort one. If you want to go to Epcot, just use the nice, short pathway from the Polynesian to TTC and grab the Epcot monorail. It's about an 8 minute walk and is clearly marked and lit at night.

1. The electrical light parade is a must for us my DS loves it. We stay concierge and sit out side our room to watch it but lots of people go to the beach. Lots of families make an evening of it they go to the pool , when electrical light parade comes they go to the beach, then back to the pool and watch the MK fireworks.

2. The pool is great. We also own DVC and BCV is our home also (Hi Neighbor) so we're prejudice. I think (and my family agrees :flower: ) SAB is the best pool on property. That said the pool at the Poly is great. My son loved the slide and the drink snack bar seems better run than Hurricane Hannahs.

3. TONGA TOAST!!! If you've never had , you must go to Konas for Tonga Toast.

The Poly is a wonderful resort and one of our favs. Enjoy.

I'm very sorry about your sister I have 5 sisters who are my BF. I'm sending P & PD your way. :grouphug:

Thanks yall for answering all my questions. We planned this trip at 5pm on friday right before DVC closed for the weekend. It was a shock that we could get a room with such short notice. Now only 17 more days!! My niece and nephew are going crazy. We leave for Hilton Head on saturday for a week then come home for 4 days until we leave again for WDW!!!!

1. They play the music, but very quietly so if you want to hear, stand near a speaker. We liked watching at the beach in front of Tahiti -- pretty deserted there.

2. There are two monorails. They run in opposite directions. At the Poly depending on which long house you are in, it can be the same distance to either pick it up at the GCH or at the TTC. The resort monorail goes in a loop from Poly to GF to MK to CR to TTC. The express one can only be picked up at TTC and goes around the loop the opposite direction, but only stopping at MK and TTC. The fastest way to get to GF is the resort monorail from Poly to GF (though you can also walk it pretty quickly too).

3. To get to Epcot, walk to the TTC and just hop right on to the Epcot monorail. Otherwise you will get on the resort monorail at the Poly and have to go all the way around the loop to the TTC and then switch to the Epcot one.

4. The resort boat launch is also a great way around. It goes from Poly to MK to GF back to Poly. We would usually take that back from either GF or MK.

Have fun!

The GF is a nice relatively short walk from the Poly via a paved path along the beach.

You've had lots of suggestions to try Tonga Toast which I've yet to try but Kona is great for dinner too with great desserts-especially cute kid's sunday.

How old are your niece & nephew? My kids LOVE the Electric Water Parade. It is hokey but they just love it.

Enjoy your trip!
