We have a split stay. Our first night is at AKL on the wed night June 22 , we moved to our home resort the Thursday and our first park res is the Friday .
When can I interview and make selections ?

And is it impossible to get Slinky Dog? If yes I assume we rope drop as genie + looks almost impossible too

I think the 30 days is based on your first day in the park. Slinky dog (SDD) is an available option for the Advanced DAS.

I only just helped my sister setup her DAS this past Sunday morning at 20 days before our first park day. DHS is our 3rd park reservation and we were given a 4 pm return for SDD.

If you are not issued an advanced DAS for SDD, you can either use G+ or you can select a DAS once you are in the park. The DAS selected in the park, will be the current wait time minus 10 minutes. We will probably do this still for another ride sometime during our trip.

Guests can request DAS at 30 days from their fiest park visit.
For DAS Advance Selections, the WDW website says all days need to be within 30 - 2 days of first park visit.

SueM I read ppl have been allowed to book all at once at 30? Is that just luck of the draw which CM you get ? And is it a lengthy process to select rides every day then to be 30 days out ?

Some people have reported being able to book all at once at 30 days, but it was never consistent, even for guests staying at WDW resorts. It seems like it was mostly pixie dust.
Recently, I‘ve seen more reports of people being told they can’t do more than 30 days and will need to call in again to book the days that are more than 30 days.

I don’t know for sure, but suspect CMs are maybe being told to follow what is on the website (all days within 30 and 2 days of first park visit). The website info is clear and hasn’t change; it’s not fair for some people to be treated differently than others.

If doing DAS Advance Selections at the same time as video DAS registration, the registration CM will transfer you to the selection chat. We only waited a few minutes each time we did it. For our trip in February, we only had 5 park days. The CM asked for our top 2 selections and an alternate for each day. Then she scheduled the entire 5 days before sending a message of what was scheduled.
For our next trip, the CM asked for 5 days our choices at a time, then she got back to me one day at a time. We had a long trip, but all days were within 30 days.

Once the person has been registered for DAS, they use the same video chat process to start, but once the chat window opens, they can use the link in the chat window to go directly to the selection chat (see screenshot).
The wait for that chat should be very short.

When the advanced DAS selections are made, do they all have to be at the park you have a reservation for? Or could you make a morning selection at the park you have a res for, and an evening one in another park if you have a park hopper?

Are you making all of these selections over the phone with no insight into available windows that might work better for you and your family? It's a nice service that they are offering you to make advanced selections but it sounds a bit clunky.

1. The DAS Advanced Selections must be at the park where you have a reservation for that day.

2. They are made over an online chat. You do not see availability, though the CM may be able to give you a choice of times.

If my son was registered for advance DAS for our April trip, do I need to do the interview again for July? And December? We do not have APs. Or can we just move on to ride selection.

I could not find the anwer to this, sorry if it is a stupid question. Thanks. And sorry if I am hijacking this thread.

DAS is only issued to be valid for 60 days at a time.
So, yes. You will need to re-register for your trips in July and December.
We registered in a park for our daughter in July 2021 and October 2021. We registered by video chat for a trip in February 2022 and just recently for a future trip. Each time, I did tell the CM she had been registered and needed to renew. Each time, they still asked what our concerns were with waiting in the traditional lines.
