I have an autistic son and we went through a lot of testing before he was diagnosed with autism three years ago and just today I had to talk with the school diagnostician and answer the same questions as before and sign papers to have him re-evaluated. They do this every three years so I feel very comfortable in the fact that they just don't label kids and forget about them.
I cried like a baby when they labeled my other ds with being mentally retarded but his teacher told me that if a label will get him the services and help he needs then it I should consider it a positive thing and I have.
