Could the reopening be pushed back?

I went on a 13 mile bike ride yesterday, with a mask on. 95 degrees. I figure it would be beyond a good simulation of Disney with a mask on in September, considering walking is far less strenuous.

I'm Asthmatic, bad enough to where I've been hospitalized in the past. I'm also 39, not 20.

I was fine.

Anyone who says they can't a handle mask is just making excuses. Sorry. I don't want to hear it.
Yeah.... I guess everyone is built and reacts the exact same way.

On a side note, I chuckle at people saying a mask is fine.... as they have it pulled below their nose. (Not saying you did this)

But then u have all the people who say. I have this condition and my mother has this and my father has this. That’s what I see around where I live. This is such hard times cause of safety but then also people feeling thier constitutional rights r being challenged. I get both sides I really do. Some days I flip flop I’ll admit. It’s hard to just be so black and white but as things get worse slowly again even here I think we need to just listen and be safe.
I respect your consideration for people’s divergent feelings; I really do. However, the need to wear a mask is as simple as the difference between black and white in this circumstance: You must wear a mask if you want to go to WDW for right now. If that’s not something you can do, then you should not go.

Glad Disney made the call. Let's be honest the number of people who will forever boycott Disney over it is likely fairly small.

Flip side not doing it could cause direct harm to the brand and possibly even a back step if media pressure ramped up on them.

No doubt. I chuckle at the people who say they can't wear them when doctors have proven that wearing N95s doesn't impact blood oxygen levels. (Not saying you do this).

In fairness, not all masks are N95s and not all masks are as good as the surgical ones or made the same.

For me personally, the surgical masks are the most comfortable and breathable masks. Unfortunately, I feel terrible for taking stock away from hospitals.

The cotton non-N95 masks all feel more restrictive to me. I’ve tried ones with vents, without vents. A couple dozen masks purchased and tried and I still prefer my disposable surgical N95s. I could see how some people might think masks are better or worse depending on the brand/type they’ve tried. But for ultimate breath ability, face shields are still an option.

I don’t cAre about wearing a mask. I wear one all day at work. I wear one everywhere I go.

I don’t wear an N95. I only wear a (cloth) mask when required. I wear one to work, but can’t while actually working. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but it seems no matter how I position it my glasses fog up.

I just read an article in The NY Times on the situation in Texas and how some politicians, and many Texans are dismissing the need for social distancing and masks. Even as far as the politician saying he is "sick and tired of Anthony Fauci's recommendations". Now I have no idea how true this is in Texas, and not meaning to single out Texas... but this attitude is the problem in the country.

It's because of attitudes like this that I am unwilling to go to Disney anytime soon. Other countries locked down for 3 months and that's it. They're reopening and have all but eradicated the virus. The difference between them and us is that those countries had a unified message at every level of government, and all of the people abided by the recommendations. Three months. But because it has been made a political issue here in the U.S., and because people want to wave the flag of "wearing a mask is against my rights", here we are still not even at the peak of the virus, let alone being able to get back on with our lives.

I hate wearing the mask. It feels ridiculous standing 6' apart from people. It's hot. It hurts my ears. I miss going out to dinner with friends... inside. But refusing to wearing a mask is no more a right than being able to drive while intoxicated is.

Can we please just stop making this political and listen to doctors and scientists? At some point EVERYONE is going to have to listen to them, let's just do it sooner rather than later.

Try folding up a facial tissue and placing it beneath the mask across the bridge of your nose and below your eyes. My brother does technical repairs on hospital equipment and he swears by this trick.

Sadly, it's about their rights while they take away mine.

Oooh! I’m excited to try this! I’m so sick of being foggy!

Ok ,so the last 40 or so posts have been about masks, wear em ,don't wear em etc etc etc. The bottom line is wear a mask to protect ME. I'll wear a mask and protect YOU. Florida as a state has had 100k+ cases in the last month. If WDW doesn't postpone moving forward be careful out there ,even those who don't believe in science. Numbers don't lie.

You mean the one I rode with?

So the mask you rode with defeats the purpose of masking. N95 masks with front gaskets still let out your respiratory droplets while only protecting you. I've seen them all over and questioned them when the new reason to mask was to protect others, not yourself. Because logically if the gasket opens when you exhales then it does nothing to protect others. Then I found an article to confirm it. I don't think most people know this or think about it when buying masks.

So true! I live in Texas, and so many people talk about their freedom and rights. But what about "click it or ticket?" It's OK to have to wear a seat belt or get a ticket. Stores have "No shoes, no shirt, no service", why not dd "no mask". I get so mad at some people. I live in an area of Texas with a high percentage of retirees, yet they're often the worst!

We are a nation of laws. My only problem with the whole mask thing is it is basically one person making the decision (Govenor, mayor, County President). If we are to where masks, a legislative body needs to pass a law, with the executive branch signing off. This is what separates the USA from most other countries. That being said, at this point it is all too late to be teaching basic civics to our politicians.
