Could the Dream Turn the Grump into a Believer? Charleston Update 10/13

Michelle, what a great update. That food looks absolutely yummy -- especially the scallops.

Love the stars above the bunkbed.

I'm so glad you didn't get seasick. And I'm glad you didn't cancel your anniversary trip.

I have a few Disney Dooney's - the original sketch, the black one with the different color Mickey's on it & the brown tonal, and I've got my eye on another one for when I go in October - yes, I have an addiction

Is it the Black Minnie bag with the red bows by chance??? :lmao:

Just curious, I have my eyes set on that one as well! ;)

I have the Wonder Tote and am currently trying to decide between the Sketch & the new Minnie bag! It's just too hard of a decision to make!!!

Love all the Dream updates. What a gorgeous ship. The food looks fantastic too. I had no idea they had an entire restaurant devoted to Nemo theme. My sister would die if she saw those mine, mine, mine seagulls. Your family is stunning :goodvibes

Yep, Cabanas is really cute! It's a buffet for breakfast and lunch and then table service for dinner, it's not part of the standard dinner rotation though, just another option you can choose.

Your dinner looked delicious! That right there has me ready to go on a cruise!

Cute towel animal! How did the boys like sleeping on the bunk beds?

The food was really good, and you can order as much as you want!

The boys were fine on the bunk beds, they would have preferred a regular bed, but had no real complaints about the comfort of the bunks.

Another foodtastic update! The food does look amazing and I'm glad that you didn't get seasick. Yet again - your pictures show what a dream the Dream is! :goodvibes

I was so relieved that my fears of seasickness were unfounded!

Great update Michelle! Glad to hear you didn't get seasick. :goodvibes That is my fear too! When I was younger I would get sooo carsick...now I just drive everywhere and I am fine. Did the Bonine make you sleepy?

Love your family pictures as well as the ones from Golden Mickey show. :thumbsup2

It is funny you were talking about how windy it was up on the sports deck. My DS and I were just talking about this yesterday. He loves BB and he was laughing about how difficult it might be to shoot hoops in the wind. I can imagine ping pong being even worse.

I can still get car sick if I'm riding in the back and there is no way that I can try and read a book or anything in the car, even in the front - makes me very dizzy, so you can see why I was worried. Glad I worring for nothing!

It was really only that first night that it was really windy, probably because we were moving so fast, after that it wasn't bad at all. The people trying to play ping pong that night were very amusing

The food looks amazing! I really can't wait to try all of it. I am going to gain all the weight that I am losing right back.

I actually didn't gain much at all , just a couple pounds - probably all that walking around we did!

Michelle, what a great update. That food looks absolutely yummy -- especially the scallops.

Love the stars above the bunkbed.

I'm so glad you didn't get seasick. And I'm glad you didn't cancel your anniversary trip.

I thought the stars above the bunk were a nice touch :goodvibes

Is it the Black Minnie bag with the red bows by chance??? :lmao:

Just curious, I have my eyes set on that one as well! ;)

I have the Wonder Tote and am currently trying to decide between the Sketch & the new Minnie bag! It's just too hard of a decision to make!!!

It is indeed! The one I saw was white with black trim though - so cute!

We'll be headed out to the airport soon for our trip to Charleston. Hope everyone has a great weekend and I'll talk to you when we get back!!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend! :yay:

Your dinner looks deeeeeeelicious. And how funny about the servers telling the bizarre jokes with no punch lines! :lmao: So glad you didn't get seasick at all!

Yes, there is a posibility that you will be seated with another family. We knew in advance that we would be cruising with another DIS family that I had 'known' for several years so we requested to be seated together. There did seem to be quite a few smaller tables though so I think if you request to be seated alone there shouldn't be a problem with that request being granted. Just make sure you do it well in advance before they begin to assign seating. :thumbsup2

called in the request yesterday! ;) my dh would flip!! and personally, I don't think I would like it either.. :lmao: I never knew that though.. it seems quite odd that they would do that :confused3

You know, I don't know if we did things right, but we always just left after we were done eating. We never stayed long. So we never chatted with our servers after dinner. We always wanted to keep moving. I guess I don't know if they come and dismiss you or ask if you need anything else after dessert, because we left when we were done.

Have a fun trip. I'll be catching up again in another week or so.

I have just the place for these guys to come and 'live' this year. :thumbsup2

Love the mosaic! Think I could pull one of those off in my classroom? ;) I bet my second-graders would have a blast with three million little colored squares and some glue!

Hope you are having a wonderful DRY time in Charleston. Look slike some showers blew through this morning but other than that it looks dry.

I seriously thought my DH was the worst! You totally win that prize. I cannot wait to see the rest of your trip report to see if you turned him around.

Hope you are enjoying Charleston. That is the best city in South Carolina. Plan to be there next weekend!!!

I hope you are having a great time in Charleston! A good friend of mine went there last year for her honeymoon and absolutely loved it.:goodvibes

I absolutely loved your family photos! I, too, am hoping to get some good ones on our cruise. I have a question for you-did you dress the boys in khaki's every night? I knew I would need something nice for Ben for formal night but was hoping I could get away with polo shirts and nice shorts on other nights. With Ellie, it's easy-sundress, sandals-done! But if Ben needs nicer stuff I'd like to start looking now and grab things when I see them on sale. I think he only owns one pair of dress pants that fit!

Oops. I missed your last update. Dinner looks delicious. YUMMY! Glad you all enjoyed it. The wine package sounds like a good idea. I love wine with dinner.

Your cabin is so cute. Very cool being able to look at the stars at night.

Hope you are having a good time in Charlestown. I want to hear all about it since I'm doing a day trip to there from HH.

I'm glad to hear you can request to sit alone on the cruises. I'll definitely ask for that next time we go cruising. Those bunk beds look cool, with the stars overhead.

Oh I hope you had a great time in Charleston! I hope the weather was fine! We just got home, I just read your update and I loved it! Great food porn pics! YOU are officially our food picture-taker this trip in October, Michelle!!! NOT sure what to make about the D & B storyline, but looking forward to hearing all about the twists?!!

Are you ready to do some major dancing tomorrow??? 60 days!!!! YAY for us!!!
:thumbsup2

We did have a great weekend. I see why Jackie loves that city so much, it's fantastic!

I still wonder if he thought the jokes did have a punch line, but something was lost in the translation - I don't know, it was odd and funny all at the same time

called in the request yesterday! ;) my dh would flip!! and personally, I don't think I would like it either.. :lmao: I never knew that though.. it seems quite odd that they would do that :confused3

I don't know that I would have liked to be paired with complete strangers either. We had fabulous tablemates though :goodvibes

You know, I don't know if we did things right, but we always just left after we were done eating. We never stayed long. So we never chatted with our servers after dinner. We always wanted to keep moving. I guess I don't know if they come and dismiss you or ask if you need anything else after dessert, because we left when we were done.

I think we were just finishing up dessert when the whole ordeal started, or maybe we were just sitting there chatting a bit, I can't remember......oh, you know what, I think we were waiting on Don's bill for the wine package and to give his order for what wine he wanted the next night! That's why we lingered and why we got treated to such an interesting display

I have just the place for these guys to come and 'live' this year. :thumbsup2

Those guys would look great in your classroom this year!!

I think your 2nd graders would love that project - you try it out and let us know how it goes

Hope you are having a wonderful DRY time in Charleston. Look slike some showers blew through this morning but other than that it looks dry.

We got some rain everyday, but it didn't keep us from the things we wanted to do - racked a pretty good bar bill one night waiting for a storm to pass though :lmao:

I seriously thought my DH was the worst! You totally win that prize. I cannot wait to see the rest of your trip report to see if you turned him around.

Hope you are enjoying Charleston. That is the best city in South Carolina. Plan to be there next weekend!!!

Do I win the prize for the Grumpiest of all Disney Grump DHs?? Not sure that's a prize I want.........

We loved Charleston!

I did dress the boys in khaki's everynight except pirate night. I only brought one pair for Jared though, I figured since they only had them on for a couple of hours each night that one would be enough. Thankfully he didn't spill food all over himself, but if he had, there are washing machines on board :thumbsup2

The official dress code does say no shorts, but we saw plenty of people in the dining room with shorts on, so if that is what you want to take for Ben I think you'll be fine.

Hoping that you are enjoying your trip to Charleston!!!!

Hey Mel!! We did enjoy it, such an awesome city! Are you on FB? If so PM me and I'll send you my info - I'll be putting my pictures up there soon.

The wine package is a great idea if you like wine and Don definitely does. You can carry on your own wine if you want, but if you take the bottle to dinner with you they will charge you a corkage fee.

You will love Charleston Mary Ellen! Ask away if you have any questions.

I'm glad to hear you can request to sit alone on the cruises. I'll definitely ask for that next time we go cruising. Those bunk beds look cool, with the stars overhead.

Hey there HD!!! 60 days???? Really??? Geez this is sneaking up on me, we need to get busy planning

Well, since YOU don't take any food pictures, I can see how that job would automatically fall on me :rotfl: I get it though, it wasn't that long ago that I refused to take food pictures - I still won't anywhere outside of Disney and if Anita hadn't prodded me to, I probably wouldn't have taken any at Palo!

Anita, Jen and Katie know my D&B saga. Everyone else will just have to be patient ;)

Hi Michelle, Sorry I had fallen so woefully behind on your TR. I have spent most of this week so far trying to catch up on everyone's TRs. I am loving your TR and now totally dying to go on the Dream. It looks absolutely gorgeous!

Nice to hear that you didn't get seasick even though you did feel the motion of the boat. Both my husband and I get motion sickness so we have been a bit reluctant to go on one. Plus our little one obviously gets so much enjoyment out of the parks right now, why change things if we don't have to....yet.

By the way, did I miss a picture of you D&B bag? I am debating if I want to bring my D&B bag next week when we got to Orlando, considering I will only be at Mk for one day (and even though probably won't be using the bag there). Hmmmm.

Seriously love this TR so far and all th new information. Love the family photos by the way. They are perfect!

I was thinking just the same thing!!!

Hi Michelle! I just checked with Baylor and you are right about the names, Mario and P Tar.
I can't remember where Petar was from though, maybe Croatia?

That night at dinner, wasn't that just bizzaro? Funny bordering on get me out of here!!!!!
Anyway it was so good to have you to laugh with when we walked out of the dining room!

Officially caught up now!! I love that you were able to do so much on the first day. For some reason, I thought you would really just have time to board, eat dinner and hit the sack but you did a LOT!

That show looks fantastic and dinner yummy. sounds like the boys made themselves right at home :goodvibes

Yeay! I am so glad you loved Charleston! I miss my hometown! Do we get pictures from the trip? PLEASE! :goodvibes

Those sea scallops look amazing and how odd/funny about the servers! I can see where that would get old after awhile! Okay, had to laugh about Jared's enjoyment of his Mickey bar. I am sure Connor would look the same!
