Could someone give me the current status on my Green Eggs and Ham?

The family I are leaving for another of many Orlando trips on Friday & on our last three trips the Green Eggs & Ham restaurant has been closed, seemingly for and indefinate period of time. Much to our dismay. At 1st it seemed like they were just doing a brief paint & rehab to it... but that was back in like... 2005 or 2006 (I forget exactly...)

We were big fans of Green Eggs & Hamwiches on our trips back in the day, and they were the perfect way to start our morning. It was mildly upsetting to see it closed the first time. Moderately upsetting to see it was still closed the second time. Maddeningly infuriating to see it closed the third time. Doesn't seem like it should take multiple years to refurbish a small restaurant, so I begin to wonder if it will ever come back at all.

So anyway, frankly, we don't have our hopes up the 4th time, but I figure it's still worth at least asking...

So long story short (too late): is it still closed?

PS. What's the status on The Simpsons Ride while I'm at it it? That's another thing we're hoping will be open before we leave. (We're annual passholders. I've heard rumors we may see an early soft opening if we're lucky, but nothing concrete.)

EDIT: It was brought to my attention that I claimed it had been closed since 1996. I meant 2006. My mistake. ;)

I don't know about Green Eggs & Ham but nothing has been released "officially" from Universal about an opening date. Most seem to think it will open in early April but again..nothing official.

We were just there and GE&H was closed.... the entire time. Never saw it open. I was bummed, b/c Circus McGirkus didn't have what my little guy was hungry for... we ended up walking into another land. I didn't realize it is an ongoing thing, but that makes sense, b/c it had no signs of life.

I haven't seen green eggs and ham open for a very long time. We just go to the boulangerie or croissant moon instead now.

Hopefully they will announce some type of opening for Simpsons when Ellen is there next week.

My guess (and it's only a guess, as there is no official word on the matter) is that GE&H is gone forever. It will remain as a sort of art object, I suppose, but it seems to reinforce the idea that the park isn't doing so well, which is a shame I think.

I was at IOA just a few months after it opened and that was the only time I ever saw Green Eggs and Ham open. It's always struck me as odd because the usual reasons for closing a food stand wouldn't seem to apply (poor location, low revenue, low quality, etc). The "Green Eggs and Ham" was actually good and I would have thought that it would a must-do just for the novelty of it alone. The building itself is hilarious and I'm glad they haven't torn it down but it makes me kind of sad when I walk by and see it shuttered. :confused3 :sad2:

i too have been bummed about it. we ate there a few years ago and even then, we were the only ones there. it didn't open until 10 AM or so i believe on our trip which was in the middle of summer and if that was the norm, i'm sure lots of people passed on it to find something breakfast like earlier. my kids were starving by the time it opened. we ate and played there about an hour before seeing other signs of life. it's sad really. i do miss it.

In honor of GE & M closing....I offer this in memory:
