Are more people taking their own luggage to the bus? Are there any space storage problems on the bus with extra luggage, etc. and is everyone able to load their stuff on the same bus? Are there longer waits for buses; because, there's an increase in everyone bringing their own luggage to the bus? Is it taking forever to unload at the resort? Has there been longer trips back and forth from the airport; since this all started.

I'm trying to get a heads up for our trip in September.
TIA

Why would you think that people are bringing their bags to the bus? There really should not be any increase in the amount of luggage on the bus. You are only allowed so much on the plane.
The security has nothing to do with arrivals, only departures.
The busses hold an incredible amount of luggage. Like the entire bottom of the bus holds luggage.
It takes very little time to unload at the resort because the luggage is loaded by resort, not all mixed up.
The trips take the same amount of time.

If I'm way off, I'm happy there aren't any differences with ME.

My feelings extend from not being able to carry everything you want in your carry-ons because of the liquid and gel concerns. Many are checking their carry-ons or not having them at all since there's no big advantage right now to having them with you if you can't have your toiletries, etc.

Others are fearful that the baggage claim process will be a mess and could delay ME getting your bags. Also, more people will pick-up their own bags to have access to their toiletries immediately; therefore, adding to the storage of bags on the bus. If more are taking their luggage to their bus, the bus may not be able to handle all the bags. Having more bags on the bus to load and unload will take longer; therefore it will delay you arrival to the Disney resort.

If everything is normal then I'm a happy camper. I was just looking to find out if there are any differences right now.

I don't think you'll see any noticeable difference in the amount of luggage being taken to the DME buses now. People may put tags on all their bags with the exception of possibly one. That one could take the place of the 'day bag' they would have used as carryon in order to have the stuff they need at the resort when they checkin. But, I think that, for the most part, you won't see a huge swell of luggage being taken on the bus now.

I know what Bete's talking about, and I have the same question about whether or not there's been a noticable difference.

Since you can no longer bring most toiletries in carry-ons, the several hour lag between arrival at resort and delivery of checked bags can cause some real inconvenience depending on hygiene habits and time of day. For example, my flight arrives around 9:30 p.m. or so. I always pack for 24 hours in my carry-on, and I was anticipating that I'd arrange with our resort to not deliver our checked DME bags until morning so we don't get woken up. However, without toothpaste and contact lens solution and the like, going to sleep and waking up will just not be as comfortable and convenient. I was thinking about either checking a bag (of toiletries, etc.) without the DME tag and picking it up before heading to the bus, or, if I have to wait at baggage claim anyway, picking up ALL of my checked bags and bringing them to the bus with me. ANd by the way, that checked bag of toiletries would not take the place of my original carry-on bag, it would be in addition to it.

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool DME supporter, and before the recent security changes I was on this forum trying to convince people of the convenience, efficiency, and ease of using the automatic DME luggage delivery rather than claiming one's own bags. So if someone like me is considering picking up his own bags, I can imagine that people who are less informed about and less committed to the DME process might think to do the same.

It's a reasonable question.

Know something? The only item I absolutely, 100% NEED that can't be purchased at my Disney resort is a certain conditioner. Every other toiletry item I'd use can either be found in an acceptable-in-the-passenger-compartment form, or is available in the gift shop at my hotel, or even at MCO.

So, no, even if these restrictions remain in place it will not change how I pack (will just wash my hair before leaving for the airport), what I carry on, or my use of DME.

Same here.
