We're planning on attending our first-ever MNSSHP on the 30th of Sept., and I'm here to grovel and beg for ideas for costumes for hubby and I. Our 17yo daughter will be with us, and her boyfriend, but they've got their own costume ideas, so I need something just for the 2 of us. We'd like to do a couple thing. I can sew, and I'm willing to do a reasonable amount of work, but not anything *too* elaborate or expensive.

Here are a few ideas we've kicked around so far -
Fred and Wilma Flintstone
Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty
Neo and Trinity from the Matrix
The Skipper and Gilligan
Popeye and Olive Oyl

Ok, what ideas have you guys got? Please please please pretty please with sugar on top? (that was the groveling)

I've been away for awhile, but there were a few threads devoted to this topic, including pictures!! (In fact one Diser posted her pic of her and her dh as Skipper and Gilligan, if I remember correctly!! They were GREAT !!)

I keep going from ultra simple - Hawaiian Shirts, or TLC Tracing Spaces Shirts, to the "long dress Princess/Queen" costume!! I believe the posters that say its gonna be HOT HOT HOT the first week of October... dd will wear her Princess costume, but we'll have a backup plan if it becomes unmanagable!! BUT.... what about me??!!! :rotfl:

Here's what we're doing: We're going as Mouseketeers! Black shorts, Mickey "ears" and white t-shirts that have our first name on the front, and a large Mickey Mouse Club logo on the back. It'll be cool and fun!

My DH and I were Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable. We had a blast all dressed up.

Ding Ding Ding and we have a winner folks!

I thought the Trading Spaces shirts was such a great idea that I went and checked them out at the Discovery Store site, and they're on sale for $2.99! Ordered those suckers right up. We'll just wear them with jeans, hubby will probably strap on his tool belt (sans tools, unless I get him a toy hammer or something LOL), and I'll put a bandana in my hair or something. So easy. Yay! No sewing for me!

Thanks for the idea, Eeyore45

 Actually the Trading Spaces idea came from another Dis'er from the thread of post your pictures!!

I mentioned it to DH, and my parents, they are all, what ever works... *I* keep thinking of doing something more, but in the end, I think we'll be simple!! The Mousekeeter shirts and shorts is another wonderful idea, but TLC shirts is easier to get my dad and dh in to!!

:goodvibes Love the Dis!!

The trading spaces idea is great. In 2004 we went to the Oct. 1st party and in 2003 we went to the 10/31 party. Both were incredibly hot and humid. So, definetly plan those costumes lightweight.

In 2003 we had 8 adults and we all dressed as pirates. We had 2 little cinderella's and a solider. Then in 2004 it was just my family. DH, DS and I all went as a pajama party.

:rotfl: We are doing the same thing after reading it on the DisBoards! LOL Hubby and I will be the Red Team, while our DD is the Carpenter. My parents are going to WDW with us, but they didn't want to do the MNSSHP or else we could have been 2 teams. LOL What night are you going? We'll be there 9/30. :wizard: Rebecca
