Costco won't deliver my bottled water!!!

Work is a low fraud situation - workplaces are stable and if I address it to Annie, there needs to be an Annie working there to get it to you. Hotels are a high fraud situation, because I can check in with my stolen ID, have stuff delivered to me for two days, check out and disappear.

Costco has, I believe, free shipping. So shipping costs are built into orders. I doubt they cover shipping costs on any order less than $50.
You should see the fraud databases used to tag things - these companies know whether the address you are giving is your current employer .... even sometimes the home address of someone you are connected with - relatives are easy, the scary thing is the fraud system could predict who my friends were. They are pretty complex systems.

This is what is stated on the Costco website about shipping when I select the "Shipping and Terms" tab on the product page. (I just copied it over.) So one way or another, shipping has been included in online orders. Profit has nothing to do with it as some are saying.

*Delivery is available to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. An additional Shipping and Handling fee will apply to shipments going to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico. This fee will be quoted at checkout.
Standard shipping via UPS Ground is included in the quoted price. The estimated delivery time will be approximately 2-3 business days from the time of order.

UPS doesn't deliver for free. We don't know if the change in policy was initiated by UPS, whatever vendor COSTCO is using for water sales or by COSTCO itself. COSTCO is a well run company. I'm sure they'd find a way to solve the problem if it was profitable.

There is a big difference between delivering to a work address and a temporary hotel address. Of course fraud is an issue. I suspect a bigger issue is having to issue refunds to customers who never get their water. Cancel their trip. Refuse to pay a hotel package acceptance charge.

People who think COSTCO should come up with a system to accommodate customers who want have $7 case of water delivered to a hotel are living in another world. People on DIS wouldn't be ordering the water if COSTCO added a $20 special order handling charge.

Hess mini-mart has more then competitive prices on water, soda and "fun food".

edited to add--JMO but it's kind of rude to re-order, with a slightly different address, after your first order was cancelled and you were told COSTCO no longer delivers to hotels. I don't see the purpose of trying to debate the policy with a supervisor. Internet sites like FW and DIS find deals that are great for the customer but are loss leaders for the company. Companies don't care if they lose those customers.

I'm going to Contemporary. How do I write the address? The name of the resort is Contemporary resort. I can't write Contemporary only.

How many days in advance do you order your water? Can the resort keep the water for a few days? Since Costco may cancel the order, I won't have enough time to order from staples.

What you can do is go to Office Depot (www.officedepot.com) where they sell Poland Spring Water is case of 24 x 0.5l for $6.00. They will deliver free next business day for purchases of $50 or more.

Also, if you do a search on "food" you will find nine categories with a total of about 350 items, and this includes snacks, cookies, water, ready to eat meals, etc. This way you can order your food and water at very reasonable prices and get free delivery.

Note that some of the items may be subject to Florida Sales Tax, which will be added.

Some bottled water customers have specific brand preferences. I don't mean to nitpick but Poland Springs is a Nestle brand. Nestle has a number of regional brands of water. I'd expect Officedepot will substitute one of the Nestle water brands that's normally sold in the Orlando area.

I suspect an increasing number of companies will stop shipping to hotel guests.

Office Depot sounds like a great short term answer.

You would probably get Zephyrhills if you order from Office Depot.

I must have bad taste buds or something because I moved to Florida last year and think the tap water is fine. Sometimes I will use a Brita, but mainly to keep it cold...I like ice water.

Office depot will get you mypoints too :thumbsup2

I ordered two cases of water from Costco on Tuesday and they are being delivered to POP tomorrow.

Ordered and now I'm getting the credit validation denial message. It stinks.

Call Costco and they said just to try again.

May not be worth it. Hate to get the same message again.

:headache:

I must have bad taste buds too because I think FL water is fine. Different than NY water, but not bad enough that I can't drink it. On our last trip we had the refillable mugs & just carried those to the parks to refill with water from fountains. You can bring flavor packets if you don't like the taste of the water. You can also get free cups of ice water from any CS location. Don't really understand the extreme need for bottled water at WDW. Then again, we don't normally drink bottled water at home either.

Okay, I thought it wouldn't hurt to speak with Costco about this matter. First, I want to say I'm not trying to get around the system, I just want to know why some people seem to have no problem getting their orders while others are declined.

Costco told me it was a banking issue. I called my bank and they assured me there was nothing wrong and my order should have been processed.

So I called Costco back. I wanted to know if I could order via the phone. I found out that they only take internet orders.

I explained my time constraint and wanted to know if I should re-do my order.

I spoke with a supervisor named Marcy, who was the WORST customer service rep I have ever spoken to. I was just wanting information and explained how I had come across similar problems with forum members. She immediately started yelling at me saying I could not talk about other forum experiences and I could only discuss my order. She shocked me with her tone of voice and pure nastiness. I'm sure she has dealt with this issue before, but she told me I was the first person to ever bring this up to her.

She had me practically in tears over stupid, silly water. I only contacted them for information, never was impolite or nasty myself. Wow, I'm just stunned.

If it is their policy not to deliver to the hotel then just say it. Why go on and on saying I was declined by my bank? Then I was told it was my security number, etc. The excuses kept flying.

Guess we will stick to our plan for the Hess station. At this point it is just too late to try anywhere else.

Again-no problem if they have a no hotel policy. Just state that on the website.

I just got back on 9/26--my first order was canceled--2nd order went thru and was delivered to POP--dosen't make much sense--same addy used for both orders.

Arrived at the Beach Club last Friday night around 9 pm. They could not find my water, nor did they have any note of it on my reservation. Saturday morning after speaking with several different CMs,they put me in touch with the shipping department where they found my water and delivered it to my room for a fee of $10 each!!!

A handling fee will be assessed at any Disney resort that has a convention center. Disney has out sourced the convention center support to a another company named IKON.

We brought a Brita water pitcher last week and just filled up our klean kanteens with it to take through the parks. Water tasted great this way and the water bottles stay good forever. No waste, good water, worked great!

But see the thing here is that it's NOT DELIVERED, it's shipped via UPS. So profit has nothing to do with it.

Respectfully, you don't think UPS delivers free, do you? The cost to ship 19 pounds from Orlando to Lake Buena Vista* via two-day ground delivery is $12.75. Even considering that CostCo - like most businesses - has an account with UPS and gets a discount, it's costing them at least $6 to ship that case of water. If the shipping cost is built into the price - and I have no reason to doubt crisi - CostCo is actually only getting $1.99 for the case of water. That has to cover wages, benefits, storage, the cost of the item to them, the profit....

*A half-liter of water weighs about a pound, and I chose shipping from Orlando to Lake Buena Vista because I have no idea where CostCo's warehouse is (they're not shipping from the stores). Even LBV to LBV costs the same $12.75.

Placed my order via Costco.com and it is being delivered today. No issues with shipping.

This is what we did in August (except we have a Pur pitcher). I, too, hate the waste of all of those plastic bottles.

WE are back from WDW. Our order from Costco for 6 cases of water was waiting for us on checkin at POR on Sept 18. Was delivered to our room by a front desk staff member who would not accept a tip. She said only bell services and housekeeping were allowed to accept tips.
No handling charge by resort .....great service from Costco and POR.

That is when you ask to speak to her supervisor and if that person speaks rudely to you, you ask to speak to the next one in charge. You might end up at the president's office, but guaranteed the next one supervisor won't speak so rudely to you. So rude. I am never rude or mean, I am sweet as pie as I ask for their supervisor. It always gets their attention.

My order was just cancelled with NO email. I was pretty ticked as I really need to make sure I am drinking water as I have been having slight contractions and am pregnant. It is a medical necessity and they just cancelled my order with NO customer service, no email. Going to place my order now with garden grocer.
