I totally agree with those who mention how important appearances are. I see the saying "it's not what's on the outside, it's what's on the inside that counts" as pure balony. It is ALL about appearances. Those who look good do better in life - they usually get the jobs, get the dates, overall are treated better by others. No doubt in my mind.
I would gladly spend the money to improve things, especially my jaw/chin which has never been "right" since birth. A good jawline does wonders for one's appearance. Also I recently spent more than $9000 just to give myself a nice smile (surgery included), which was for purely comestic reasons. But straight teeth is "required" by society and not a big risk, so not the exactly the same. But if I had the money, I would probably do something cosmetic. The prospect of suceeding or advancing in a job or just getting treated better overall would be enough to make me accept the risk and do it.

I'm not kidding... the whole *middle* was removed and set up on the shoulder.... then the sliced and diced it all, in the shape of a pin wheel....
