What's everyones take on Coronado Springs. Is it a good location, a lot of things to do, etc... My wife and I stayed off site last July and this November we would like to stay on site. Would Coronado Springs be a good choice or should I look at another Disney Resort.

Thank you all in advance.

My husband and I love Coronado Springs. The grounds are beautiful, there are plenty of pools, the dining was very good and offered a lot of choices. There is a spa/gym. We also found the bus service to be good.

Is there anything specific you are looking for in a resort?

We just spent a week at CSR. Overall, we had a great experience.

The pros:

Resort main lobby and grounds are beautiful and have a deluxe feel. To give some perspective, after we checked in to our room, we went over to the Poly for dinner. My MIL was very surprised when I told her the Poly is much more expensive than CSR (and this is no knock on the Poly as we loved the feel of that resort too).

The Dig Site is an awesome pool area with a nice water slide and hot tub.

Room, which underwent refurbishment a few years ago, was clean and well-maintained. Queen beds were comfortable. I especially liked that the vanity area was separate from the bathroom and that you could close the doors to the vanity area (nice for providing privacy when changing clothes, especially with MIL in our party).

Bus service was very good. Average wait time was 8-10 minutes. Longest wait was about 20. The resort has a nice central location relative to all the parks. While the busses make 4 stops in the resort, you don't share buses with any other resorts. The busses also started coming around early (by 6:30am), which was great for getting to character breakfasts.

While we never ate in Pepper Market or Maya Grill, Cafe Rix had a decent selection of snacks and the Rix Lounge provided a nice, relaxed spot to eat them.

The Cons:

People aren't kidding when they say the resort is huge. It's practically the size of a theme park. We were in the Ranchos section about as far from the main building as possible (at least a 10-12 minute brisk walk). The flip side is that we were only about 50 yards from Bus Stop 3 (and this was good because we used the buses extensively).

The bathroom area of the room (toilet and shower) was very small and had a somewhat cheap motel feel.

The convention resort aspect did slightly detract from the Disney magic for me. It was just a little depressing seeing people there exclusively on business. The flip side is that this likely made the buses less crowded (vis a vis a non-convention resort where everyone is on vacation).

Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at CSR again (we had free dining and upgraded to DxDP - given the deluxe feel to this resort, we sort of felt like we got a deluxe Disney experience at a moderate price). In fact, I'd probably book it again for my next visit if my heart wasn't so set on trying out the Poly.

My husband and I stayed at CSR in September and loved it! It's a BEAUTIFUL resort - white sand beaches, gorgeous flowers, etc, etc. It's just such a pretty place. The resort is large, but request a room in the Casitas or Cabanas to be a bit closer to the food court area. And even though it is large, the walk around the resort is so lovely.

And the rooms themselves are very nicely appointed and feel more deluxe than the other moderates, imo. The pool is top-notch and great for spending a lazy day beside. Pepper Market is a bit pricey, but the food was good and there's a large selection. Cafe Rix is great to grab a snack or small meal.

As someone else mentioned, the bus service is great. The longest wait we had was 15 minutes, and the usual was about 5. And the rides to the park are very reasonable. The farthest away was Magic Kingdom, but that was maybe 15 minutes. Definitely the best bus service I've had at Disney!

I would definitely recommend it. It's a great, romantic resort for a couple!

My husband and I have stayed at the Coronado (with and without kids) a total of nine times, including several special occasions (both of our 50th birthdays, my celebration of successful cancer surgery and our 25th wedding anniversary). We love everything about it -- from the beautiful rooms, sliding door separating the bathroom from the bedroom, the nightclub with a DJ on weekends, the pool bar, pool food, the pool itself and the largest hot tub of all the moderates, the quiet pools, the fact I can get a massage while there, the very friendly and helpful staff, etc.

Be sure to check out the "unofficial" CSR Faq thread where you will find many recent reviews and numerous photos.

My husband and I just returned from our 1st Disney World trip together (my first visit ever and his first in 15 years) staying at CSR for 7 nights. I enjoyed almost everything about it, so I will first list what I didn't enjoy.

Just for comparison sake, we booked a standard room (2 queens, standard view, no special requests).

The biggest issue I had with the resort was the staff. We did come across a couple of very friendly employees but they were few and far between. When we checked in, they were fairly friendly but did not seem to want to help you understand the process of checking in/the dining plan/etc, and we could hardly understand what the employee was saying because her accent was so thick. 95% of the other employees there are not friendly at all and you we felt like we were inconveniencing them for just being there. Not once did we ask for anything and we still felt like a burden. The worst was when we ate dinner at Pepper Market, but we did have a wonderful server at the breakfast buffet and her tip reflected that. The employees clearly do not enjoy their jobs at CSR so if you are expecting "Disney service", you probably want to stay elsewhere. They will not go out of their way to help you. I knew that in advance from reading reviews, but I chose to book there anyway.

The only other real cons I can think of are that the resort IS quite large and it is not very Disney-themed like some of the other resorts. I didn't want tacky printed bedspreads, etc so this was actually a bonus for me but I know it might bother some people. The resort itself is very relaxing and as long as you don't mind a 5-10 minute walk from your room to the main building (El Centro), you will probably appreciate the size of it and the toned-down decor after spending so much time in the parks. We were in Casitas 5 and walked 2-3 times per day to refill our mugs at Cafe Rix in El Centro, which was about a 5 minute walk each way. Several times we strolled around the entire lake just to look around, which is probably about a mile all the way around if I were to guess. Oh, the other con was the bathroom-- they really need new tile in the bathrooms, and they are tiny. The sink area is awesome but the bathroom itself feels like a cheap motel and kind of brought my mood down.

Now, on to the wonderful things! We had awesome Mousekeeping during our stay. Upon our arrival (our room was even ready at 8am which we were not expecting!) we had an elephant towel animal in our room. My husband loved it, LOL! We had Mousekeeping come every other day and I did tip $2 each time. I left a note asking for more tissues because the box was almost empty and also asked for more shampoo & conditioner on the 2nd day of our stay. We got what we requested and even extra lotion & soaps. They had left a whole bag of the toiletries which was waaaay too much, but nice so we didn't have to request more. On Valentine's Day, we had them clean our room again and we got a sweet handwritten note from Mousekeeping wishing us a wonderful V-Day (Thank you, Jessica!) and it made us feel special. The only thing Mousekeeping didn't do during our stay was vaccuum our room which would have been nice, but we don't make messes so it wasn't like our room was dirty. We tried to use our bath towels over and over by hanging them, but they kept replacing them anyway even though they weren't on the floor!

We loved the breakfast buffet at Pepper Market. They have real bacon! And, lots of choices...biscuits and gravy, waffles, pancakes, French toast, fruit, cereal, muffins, potatoes, made-to-order omelettes, etc. Just about everything you could possibly want for breakfast. We don't eat big breakfasts but the DDP was too much food for us so we had the extra credits to burn and took it easy one morning and ate there. I wish we would have eaten there more than once. Dinner, we chose not to do again. The food was okay, not great, and the service ruined it for us. We got the steak burrito and the fish tacos. The tacos were really good but the steak burrito had mostly rice and beans in it and not enough steak. But, I would recommend the breakfast buffet. I also didn't care much for the dinner options.

The resort itself is wonderful and we enjoyed the relaxing feel. The bus system was great most of the time. A couple of days were not so good, but still no longer than a 20 minute wait. AK and HS are the closest, and MK and Epcot are farther but no more than a 15 minute bus ride...it goes by so fast. We were at bus stop 2 which gets picked up 1st so we always had a seat...if you get picked up last, don't expect to get a seat every time. It goes stop 2, 3, 4, 1 in that order. You get dropped off in the same order. Stop 1 is El Centro.

All in all, if the staff were more friendly, I would stay there again. If we ever did DW again (which we won't), I would maybe spring for a Deluxe resort just to have friendlier staff...but, it is over $1,000 more over the course of a week to do deluxe during our dates...so, I don't really know. The staff and the PM dinner were the only negatives that would keep me from staying there again. I actually loved seeing the conventioneers because it meant the buses wouldn't be as crowded. They did hang around Laguna Bar at night, though, making it hard for my husband to grab a quick drink to take back to the room. He made up for that at Epcot, though! LOL!

I was a little disappointed in the beds at CSR as I had read about how comfortable they were and I didn't feel that way at all; they felt cheap like most middle-grade hotel beds where you could feel the coils as you turned, and they made noise if you moved. Our room did not have an iHome alarm clock as pictured in the CSR thread either. The fridge was awesome to have to keep things cold and my sister surprised us with an edible arrangement so I was thankful to have the fridge! The room is really dark until the lights are on for 10 minutes or so because they are fluorescent but once on, there was more than adequate lighting in the room. Overall, we had a wonderful stay!

PS: the Coconut Gelato is AMAZING at Cafe Rix! $3 for a small, and it was HUGE and rich! Yummy!

Love CSR it is one of our favorite. I enjoy my stay there more than I did CL at the Poly. Its in a great location to all resorts and the buses are great too.

I am so sosrry to hear that you had unfriendly staff at the CSR. We've stayed there nine times and each stay we've had wonderful CM's, many who went over the top for us. Unfortunately, this can happen at any resort--even deluxe (the worse CM's we've had were when we stayed at the Contemporary).

I'm glad that other things at the resort were more pleasant for you.

Wow! Sorry you were disappointed in CSR. I go to WDW several times a year and pretty much always stay in a moderate. I've stayed at CSR eight times and it (along with POFQ) is my favorite resort. I've always found the CMs wonderful. I have a great fear of being stuck out in the Ranchos (absolutely hate the look of them). I've been assigned out there a couple of times, but thus far every single CM checking me in has been super friendly and helpful and able to move me to either the Casitas or my beloved Cabanas. In fact I've gotten mutliple free upgrades to water views without even mentioning anything other than I'd prefer a first floor room anywhere in the Cabanas.

One year, I got sick with a pretty bad upper respiratory infection (sore throat, fever, chills, etc), the very night I arrived and so stayed in my room trying to sleep it off for several days with the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door. With the sore throat, I was just nibbling on breakfast items I had brought. On the third day I heard a knock on the door, but knowing the Do Not Disturb sign was on it, just ignored it. I don't know who was more surprised and who yelled the loudest when that door opened, me or the housekeeper.:rotfl: She told me she was required to check to make sure everything was OK, when the room hadn't been accessed in several days. I told her I was fine, just had been ill, so hadn't left the room. She apologized, asked if there was anything she could get me, dropped off a bag of toiletries and towels, and left. Later that evening, I got a call from the head of housekeeping, saying she'd heard I wasn't ill, asking if I was feeling any better, and if would I be in the room for awhile as she had something she wanted to bring me. A few minutes later two housekeepers arrived with a really, really ornate clown towel animal and also a large WDW tote bag full of fresh fruit, candy, a cake in a tin, several bags of cookies, a tin of shortbread cookies, a couple of tins of cheese and crackers, and several bags of chips. No way could I have eaten all that stuff in a week, but the two housekeepers said they wanted to make sure I had something in case I didn't feel like going out. One of them also insisted on taking my ice bucket and filling it, telling me I had to stay hydrated. She just wouldn't take no for an answer.lol I usually don't bring towel animals home, but did bring that clown home to remind me of the really nice CSR CMs I met that trip. He still sits on a chest in my computer room.

I've been at CSR during the months of Sept, Oct, Dec, and May and have always found them to cpnsistently have the best bus service of any WDW resort (including the values and deluxes I've stayed at).

Housekeeping has always been great and we love the Pepper Market and Maya Grill. Cafe Rix is always just OK.

Maybe I've just lucked out, but I've never had an uncomfortable bed at CSR. In fact, the beds there have always been alot more comfortable than the ones at the other resorts I've stayed at down there (Pop, AS Sports, AS Music, POFQ, PORS, CBR, BW, YC, AKL, and WL). In fact, the most uncomfortable beds I've ever had down there were at AKL and YC. AKL was just old and uncomfortable and YC were just too noisy and hard.:rotfl:

Just stayed with DS at CSR in November. I too was worried about staying here because of the size of the resort. Well we absolutely loved it, DS has requested to stay there again.
The resort is beautiful, we were in the Ranchos near bus stop 3. It was close to the quiet pool, Dig site and laundry room. It was a short walk to El Centro, so I found if I wanted to fill my refillable cup before bed, I would take the cup to the park in my backpack, get off at bus stop 1 when we returned to the resort to fill our mugs and either walk back to the room if we weren't to tired, or hop back on the bus to get to Stop 3. The bad thing about the large resort, was in the mornings I did not go fill my cup with coffee, because I would let DS sleep as long as possible and I didn't want to leave him alone in the room for more than a few minutes. so I would just make coffee in the room. If my DH was with us, than I would have had no problem walking to El Centro each morning.
If you get a room near stop 1, I did find that some mornings going to the parks those at stop 1 could not fit on the bus. The buses going to the parks
start at stop 2, then 3, 4 and 1. So that may be something to think about if you are going to request a certain area when booking your room.
We have stayed at SSR, BC, WL and POFQ and I have enjoyed all of these resorts as well. I did find the food at the Pepper Market to be the best out of all of these resorts for counter service.
No matter where you stay, have a great time!

CSR is an amazing resort! It is beautiful! Only con for me is it is LARGE but I found it was much better layout then CBR. Love the Pepper Market!

Like I said, I did enjoy almost everything about CSR but maybe my expectations were too high for the rooms themselves...really just the bathroom and the mattress was a letdown.

A few staffers were friendly, but the majority definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed. And, the thick accents did bother me because they weren't speaking clearly enough. I didn't have an issue with any other accents throughout the parks, just at CSR. Definitely not Disney-feeling unfortunately. But, I didn't let that ruin my stay since we spent most of our time in the parks.

We have stayed several times at CSR and have always had great stays. We find the CMs to be very friendly (although we have occasionally encountered a Grumpy at Pepper Market :goodvibes). We like the layout of the rooms and think the beds are very comfortable. Like Aubriee, our worst beds at WDW were at AKL (although I still love the resort) and Beach Club. We always sleep very well at CSR.

CSR is the most deluxe-feeling of the moderates. The bus service is excellent, the toiletries are upgraded, and the resort offers room service, a fitness center, spa, salon and nightclub.

It depends what is important to you in a resort. If you want a place to shower and sleep, a value might meet your needs. The moderates offer better landscaping and are more spread out, so they tend to be quieter. Moderates also offer hot tubs and pool slides, and all except POFQ have a table service restuarant. CSR and POFQ have queen beds and POR is getting them; CBR still has doubles. All offer king beds. CSR only has one sink in the bathroom, but it has lots of counter space. The other moderates have two sinks.

CSR has great bus service and is centrally located, so it is relatively quick to get to each park. POFQ and POR offer a boat to Downtown Disney, which is a nice perk.

Deluxes add balconies or patios to the rooms, and most offer some form of transportation other than buses. Poly, Contemporary and Grand Floridian are on the monorail. Beach Club, Yacht Club and Boardwalk are within walking/boat distance to Epcot and DHS. WL offers a boat to MK. AKL doesn't have alternative transportation, but the theming is amazing. WL and AKL are the least expensive deluxes and have the smallest rooms (about 340 square feet compared to 314 for the moderates, except CBR which is also about 340).

We stay at CSR or stay deluxe because we like to enjoy the resort in the afternoons. If you plan to be in the parks from sunrise to late night, you may just want a place to sleep.
