Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- October 2010

Glad to read so many positive post on CSR. We are headed down in December as well and really looking forward to the trip. We have not been back in a year and half and we usually stay at Poly/WL but we have been wanting to try CSR for a long time. Had not thought of decorating a window until now - but that looks like fun - will plan to bring down decor as well - probably bring small tree as well. :cool1:

I haven't posted on either CSR threads but have totally lurking. This is our first stay here. Lately we've been staying at the Pop, because we actually like all the hustle and bustle, food and bus. We tried POFQ, but didn't like the food or the quietness of it. We are a window decorating, matching family t-shirts, say hi to cm's by name ... type of people. We've brought Xmas tree to pop, and plan on doing it again at CSR. We plan in doing lights too.

So my question is this, we'll be there dec 18th through dec 26th (around the same time as others of you, yeah!). But anyway will people totally hate my "tacky" christmas window? I hope not... Will there be others decorating too? We actually didn't go to contemporary this time because then we really know they won't like our style :) and I really can't help myself at Xmas. Thanks for your input.

Ooh I hope we get put in a room next to you! We are also arriving on the same day. It would be kinda difficult to haul decorations the 9338 miles between home and Orlando, but I'm sure we will be hitting the Christmas shop on the first day to get a few things to spruce the place up. We'll have plenty of carols to play though!

In answering your question, I don't know how others feel but I think it would be so much better if people around us had put up decorations, Christmas is the greatest time of year IMO. :D

On another topic, is it true that you can order mini Christmas trees at the resort? I saw it on a Samantha Brown travel show some time ago, and was hoping we would be able to do that this year

I lurked on the old thread, but thought I'd speak up on this one, to say that it looks great!

I'll be staying at CSR for the first time in a little over a week, and I can't wait! It'll just be for one night -- this has turned into a bit of a hodge-podge of a solo trip, with one night at POR, one at CSR, and two at the Poly. But I have to admit, because of this thread (and the old one), I think I'm more excited about CSR than any of the others!

Thanks to you all -- and Kathy especially -- for all your wonderful advice!

You can order the mini trees. They are beautiful, but expensive. I just looked them up today because we will be at CSR from the 16th - 21st. I think that I am going to bring my own mini-tree. Here is the link to the tree from Disney Florist:

I can't wait my family and I will be at CSR Dec. 22-29! We stayed at CBR in 2003. I was wondering how soon we can put in our room location request? I know buzz's website says 4 days before you arrive, but I've noticed others on here have put in theirs much earlier. Looking forward to hearing more stories and tips from everyone.

Single digits!!:banana: 9 days to go till my DD17 and I arrive for our first stay at CSR. My DH and DS13 will be arriving 5 days later for the end of our trip!

It's getting so close, I feel bad wanting time to slow down because I already don't want it to end!

You can call the Disney reservation number and have your room request added to your reservation at any time. Some people also send a fax - you can do that about four days prior to arrival.

Yup. I think Samantha Brown ordered from Disney Florist, but I think you can also do memoriesbybetsy.com. She has trees and stockings. We ordered gift baskets room her this past august and she was awesome to work with and very reasonable.

I can't wait to see everyone's christmas decorated windows at CSR!!!!

I am hoping that the converntion bookedo ver that time released rooms Nov 1 as I have been hearing. Does anyone knwo if they will let me move my reservation and keep FD if the booking window for the pin has already passed?

Probably, as long as there is availability at CSR.

I'm on a FD pin with CSR right now trying to add an extra day at the start of my trip. Currently there wasn't anything available for 11/20 - even w/o the pin.

I'll be speed dialing when it comes to the beginning of November, which is when I think the release will happen for my time frame.

Hello!
We are taking our third trip to disney in Feb. Our first was in 2009 after Nana gave all the family a Christmas surprise!! Needless to say we have been hooked. After going back and forth we chose CSR for this trip. I payed the extra for the preferred rooms and wanted some feedback. Does anyone knows if these are specific locations and if I should still do a room request via fax closer to our trip? We have 2 boys, one with Special needs so our main priorities are close proximity to bus stop and a quiet area. Thanks for your help!:

Can someone advise which building/location is their favorite (1 or 9b)?

We're trying to decide ona location and we're looking for one with some of the following: close to the Pepper Market and shop, but not too far from laundry. We have a DD5 too and would like to hit the pool one or two days, weather permitting.

Also, I see there was mention of microwaves available first come first serve. Is there a cost associated with getting one?

thx!

Subscribing to the new thread. Leaving in a few days! Curious to see if our room request will be granted. If not, no big :cool1:.

They will be specific buildings, but they won't announce them until January 1. As soon as they are announced, you should call and have it noted on your reservation.

Cabanas 9A would be a perfect spot for you--close to laundry and the quiet pool and a short walk to the main building. We've never stayed in Casitas 1 (it is the only Casitas building we've not stayed in but I know the laundry for the Castias is by Casitas 4).

There is no fee for the microwave.

Please remember that a request for a certain building is only that -- a request and not a guarantee.

Hi there!
DD14 and I will be staying at CSR for the first time this coming August. It will be our first mother/daughter all girls trip. Previously we have always stayed in value resorts so this will be a big surprise for her. My only question is I hear that you have to leave tips for the counter service there. Is this true? Thanks:)

Yes, there is an automatic 10% gratuity added to your bill. HOWEVER, you can avoid this by asking for a "to go" ticket and taking your food outside to eat.

Is the food court at CSR on the Disney Dining plan ?
It always has been. It's not owned by Disney, and like many of the others not owned by Disney (like some in Epcot and some in DTD), contract negotiations often last until December of the previous year. So just because it's not currently on the DP list doesn't mean that it won't be. Odds are excellent that it will.

Why can't I find Coronado's address in my GPS? I'm using 1000 Buena Vista Dr.

Any ideas?
