Just booked our flights for our upcoming trip tonight. Another sigh of relief, with another thing checked off the to-do list.

I've been pretty quiet this past week. Sadly, my dad passed away unexpectedly last Sunday... was a major shock to my family. I'm still in a bit of a daze; just doesn't feel real...

I was questioning if we should cancel our trip, as I didn't know if I'd be up for it, or if it was the right thing to do. On the way to the funeral Friday morning, I was listening to the Billy Joel Sirius station (he was my dads favorite artist), and they played Only the Good Die Young, and his cover of When You Wish Upon a Star right after. I took that as a sign from my dad that he still wanted us to go. So, we shall!

I don't mean to share too much information, but I like talking to the folks in here, and I kind of wanted to share my little story. I hope that's okay.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I agree with you though -- I think you should go and I do think your dad would want you to go. :thumbsup2

You can honor your father by dedicating your trip to him and the wonderful life you shared. :grouphug:

I'm so sorry. I hope this trip will bring you and your family some comfort and healing during this sad time. I'm assure your dad will be smiling down on you!

resistor - I'm so sorry about your Dad. I do believe that our loved ones can communicate in some way with us, and it sounds like you made the right decision to go ahead with your trip. :grouphug:

Haven't gotten through all the pages but did read the beginning and didn't see the answer to my question. We'll be staying here the night before our cruise and our flight gets in at 10. I know we won't be able to check in till 3 but will we be able to hang out at the pool beforehand? I picked this one specifically because the pools look like so much fun. TYIA

Hey everyone,

We are close to the DIS thread limit of 250 pages, so it is time to start a new thread. I love CSR but have not been there for a couple of years. We have several regulars on this thread who do a great job answering questions. Is there anyone who would like to take over the thread? It involves setting up the new thread, researching the conventions as time allows, and answering questions.

If anyone would like to take over, please send me a PM. I can send links to the pictures used in the first several posts.

Thanks!

Oh rdesisto, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad

We had a similar experience when my aunt died a few days before our trip in 2009. We also decided to go, and it was a very healing trip for us. We spent a lot of time remembering her sense of fun, and really felt she was smiling down at us while we spent time together as a family. I believe your Dad would be happy that you're going <3

Booked our first family trip and will be staying at the CSR Sept 28 - Oct 3, upgraded to a business class room. So very excited! ADR's are done, and now I'm just counting down the days! :yay:

You can check-in as soon as you arrive! We always arrive around 9:30-10am and more often than not our room has been ready. Of course you cannot count on that as it all depends on room availability and turn-around time however you can still check-in and they will text or email you (your preference) when the room is available. You can absolutely enjoy the resort during this time :) every time we have done this (and usually head to a park for the day) the text that our room was ready was always received hours prior to 3pm! Enjoy your stay and your cruise!!! :)

Woo hoo! Just what I wanted to hear. I know we're going to MK the day we get back from the cruise but still debating on wether or not to go when we arrive. We're flying a red eye so not sure we'll be up to or have enough time for a park. DTD and the pools are most probable.

You could call or fax a request to be in casitas or cabanas which are closest to El Centro.
