Add me to the group that's overlapping at the beginning of April. SO excited. We will be there April 1 - 6. (Really we'll be there late on March 31st) - our plane doesn't get in till late :sad2:

Thanks to everyone who contributes all the wonderful information here. It's definitely appreciated -- especially to us CSR "newbies".

I requested Cabanas 9 when we made the reservations -- do you think that's "enough" to request it, or should I call again closer to arrival reiterate my wish?

If you made the request when you booked, it should be noted on your reservation and that is enough. No need to call again, unless you aren't sure it is listed and just want to confirm (if it would make you feel better).

If you don't get your request, the CMs will try to find a room near your request at check-in if you tell them you would prefer to be in the cabanas. We requested cabanas once, got assigned to casita 2, and were moved to 9A at check-in.

Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2 I will leave it as-is for now. My biggest fear is that we will get put far far away since we don't show up until late in the evening - probably 9 pm or so. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

If they can't find another room for you that night, you can ask if one might be available the next day. You'd have to switch rooms, but it might be worth it if you are really unhappy with your location and are staying several nights.

I have only read about 35 of the pages, skipped a few due to time (but hope to go back and catch up!), but I've seen several references to "tacky" tile on the bathtubs. Is the tile just ugly or are we talking about a mold issue, etc? Everything else about the hotel sounds great, but I would like clarification on this bathroom negativity. Also, anyone else think that the bathroom tile is just fine??? I don't really mind ugly tile, I just want it to be clean in there. Thanks so much!!

We were at CSR in December. The tile in the bathroom was clean. It has dark blue grout which some people think is mold. It is not very attractive in my opinion. It looks dated. I don't understand why they did not re-do it when they refurbished the hotel a couple of years ago. The rest of the room was really pretty and we really liked the doors between the bedroom and sink area. They are a big improvement over the old curtain dividers.

I don't love the bathroom tile, but it has always been clean. I think there are pictures on the first page.

The bathrooms are clean, just very dated. The bathroom reminds me of the old McDonald's restaurants. The tub tile is ugly but perfectly clean. The floor tile was dark brown and not in perfect shape but not thrashed. They should have refreshed the bathrooms when they refurbished the rooms a few years ago.

Thank you to this post and all previous posts since I asked my question! I am so happy to hear that all three of you agree! From the post that mentioned the pictures, it is hard to see that the grout is blue vs. dingy in those photos, so I am very very happy to receive the "blue grout" news. If it is very bad to the eyes, I can just shut the door. Of all of my minutes on the trip, I hope to not spend so much time in the shower/stool area that it is really an issue. I really just expect that area to be clean and in working order. :thumbsup2

One more question. Has anyone stayed in Cabanas 9B and in any other location on property (to compare the two)? I found on the Buzz2001 Coronado unofficial page that the Club Level rooms have "upgraded mattresses." It says that vacationers can get rooms in 9B if they aren't being used for Club Level. I was wondering if the mattresses were really that much better. Also, for those that haven't stayed in 9B, what did you think of the Coronado mattresses? Do they have anything special like pillow or Euro tops? Thanks!

I haven't stayed in 9B - I've been in 9A and 8A since CSR got refurbed and twice in the casitas before the refurb. We thought the mattresses at CSR were better than AKL, BC (twice), Poly (twice) and OKW. I know 9B has slightly different colors (brown instead of blue runners on the beds) and has an extra chair.

Buzz is definitely the CSR expert, so if he says the mattresses are upgraded in 9B, they are. :thumbsup2 You can request 9B as long as a convention is not paying for club level in that building.

Thanks for the info! We stayed at the Poly last year, so now I have an idea on the mattresses in the rooms. I can't wait until our trip this fall!!! :)

I did not stay in Cabanas, I was in Casitas 5 (room 5273) and found the mattress pretty uncomfortable for sleeping on it for a week. Someone here said maybe I got a mattress that needed to be replaced, perhaps, but the other bed in our room was identically uncomfortable. We felt like we sank in a little, and could feel the coils beneath us along with hearing a light squeaking when we would adjust at night. I have slept on MUCH worse, but boy was I glad to be back in my own bed at home after 7 nights at CSR. I hated the pillows, too, but I usually hate all hotel pillows so that's not saying much! I found them to be really small...smaller than a standard pillow length wise...it was weird. You get 4 pillows per bed, though.

There are 2 of us in our traveling party who bring our pillows when we go somewhere. As much of a pain that it is to have to pack and bring along, it's worth it to our necks in the long run.

We find the mattresses to be terrific at CSR but hate the pillows at all the WDW resorts. They are way to small if you are used to large pillows or body pillows.

DW always bring her own pillow. Carries it on the plain and all. She always forgets to carry it home. WDW is the only place that when you call about leaving it that will at their expense send it to us. Funny how other resorts say they didn't find it! LOL

I'm not sure if anyone will be able to help me out with this question or not, but here it goes...how long can you leave your bags with bell services? The reason I ask is we're going for 2 weeks in April/May, 13 nights at CSR with one night (2 days) at Universal. For several reasons we put the night at Universal in the middle of the trip. So we're checking out of reservation 1 at CSR on one day and checking in for reservation 2 at CSR the next. Is it possible for us to leave some of our bags with bell services overnight? I figure I'll ask when we get there but it'd be useful for planning purposes if someone could tell me if they've tried this before. We'd like to take advantage of the on-site perks at Universal and don't want to pay for a night at CSR we're not going to use just so we have one continuous reservation. Worst case scenario, we'll lug everything back and forth, not a huge deal. Thanks in advance!

Hi!
Can anyone tell me if we'll be able to reach friends staying on site with the room phone? Do we call the other resort directly or go through an operator? Any charges to do this? Thank-you!
