Coronado Preferred or Riverside Preferred?

Tower is not an option. But with a 16 year old would you stay at Coronado or Riverside? I am going to assume that preferred is a good option for both resorts given their size?

The Coronado pool is cooler than Riverside. Riverside's preferred rooms are in the alligator bayou section, not sure if that appeals to your aesthetic, but most have a 5th sleeper. Coronado's rooms have barn doors to separate the bathroom area from the sleeping area vs a curtain at Riverside. For my younger kids (10 & 8) there is not a lot that appeals to them on the Coronado QS menu. They love the boat trip to Disney Springs to eat and also the beignets at POFQ.
Without knowing your 16 year old, it's hard to say.

Coronado hands down, unless you prefer the bayou theming. With the addition of the tower there are more dining options at Coronado. We have found with it being a convention resort the busses are much less crowded than those at Riverside and if you are relying on Disney bus transportation this can be a big difference between the two.

I’m doing Coronado standard room with myself and my 16 year old. We’ve never done riverside before but have done POFQ. We chose Coronado because of the food and drinks options, the cool Instagram worthy pool, the barn doors that separate the room and the deluxe lite vibe of the resort.

Never stayed at Coronado but were in a Royal Room with a river view at POR about 3 years ago and loved it. Was close to the food court just a walk over the bridge and they have a boat to Disney Springs. It is also a short walk to POFQ if you want to visit their food court or use their pool.

I’ve stayed at both resorts and would definitely choose preferred at Riverside over preferred at Coronado.

I like the theming and pools better at Riverside. I enjoy the walk to POFQ and the option to boat to DS. The bus situation at both resorts are similar. We’ve had mostly less crowded buses at Riverside.

When my kids were teens Coronado was their favorite resort period. My DD even chose it for her graduation trip. The pool alone is geared up from Riverside.

Ironically one trip at AKL we were floating in the pool and DH asked where the pyramid was. I said that is Coronado and he said he thought we were staying there and disappointed. I could have saved a few bucks, next time tell me what pool you want to swim in.

Our family as a whole likes POFQ and POR slightly better than CSR. We like the pool layout at POR better, but the pool slide at CSR is much better. A big plus is that we can go over to POFQ for a different QS menu, and then seeing/doing the horsedrawn carriage, and of course the boat option to DS. We have stayed at both POR and CSR a good number of times and have never felt the need to pay for a preferred room, because of each theme, the walk around both resorts is enjoyable to us. You really cannot go wrong at either, just look at their theme and rooms and decide which one your family would prefer. Buses are buses and neither resort is really any better than the other when it comes to buses, they will always be hit or miss.

I am team Coronado. Beautiful resort, updated rooms, great pool with slide, biggest hot tub, plenty of food options. You are taking a bus to the parks either way here and that's my only negative with the resort

Yep... Updated rooms at CSR. You are less than 5 minutes away from AK, HS and EPCOT. 3 Bridges Bar and Grill has really good food for reasonable prices.
