Coral Reef Restaurant - Diver/menu - Discontinued for 2009

I left a message for Debbi last week with all our details, date, time and special occassion. I received an email from her yesterday (about a week later) that the request for diver and personalized menu were entered. She asked me to send email her the pictures and message for the menu, which I did today. I think you just have to be patient. I only called the one time to the number just posted and waited for a response. Now I am not sure if she responds if your date and time are not available for a diver? That may be why some have not heard back? Also I did not leave my email address so she must have pulled it from our ADRs on record.

I've got a question.... Does anybody know what the earliest ADR times are for both lunch and dinner?

does anyone know how long it takes to find out if you have a diver?? I talked to Debbi and sent her my pics and a poem for the menu and she said that a request had been put in for the diver... just wondering if and when I will find out if we got one..

We had a diver last year and were told by Debbi that there is absolutely no guarantee of the diver. You will not get a reply back except maybe to let you know she got the pics and poem. They will do the menu and then it's wait to see if you get surprised the night you arranged it all. I am surprised she is not making that clear like she did to me last year.

This must be something they started in response to increased demand for the diver. When we did it last year Debbi told me immediately that it was scheduled, there was no maybe about it. It makes sense for them to do it this way (with no guarantee). Since it's free after all, this way people won't be disappointed, although I'm not sure I've ever heard of the diver not coming when scheduled.

I guess as long as there are slots "open" (meaning they haven't met their quota for the day) they'll put you down and see what they can do?

we had a diver too, but she never told us that either...she even sent us a second email when it got close to our date and told us everything was a go as planned

Sorry about posting the number... I edited above post. I did get it from the thread about 20 pages ago, so I didn't know it wasn't suppose to be posted. I would hate to hear she had to stop making the magic because of to many requests..... please except apology and I will help anyone further who needs help through PM's....

We were there for lunch June 4th. We had an 11:30 ADR and that was when the restaurant opened. When I called Debbi I left a message (once) and she called back about 3 days later. She then gave me her email to send the pictures for the menu. She told me the earliest time for the diver would be about 12:15 because they have safety checks and things they have to do before they can get in the tank and wanted to be sure we weren't going to be in a big hurry to eat and leave before she set anything up.

3 weeks later my 3 year old is still carrying her menu around!

Maybe that was their way of doing it during free dining last year but she did say no guarantee of the diver. She also said they don't want the tank becoming a bulletin board so they only do so many dives and only at certain times. It really was special but honestly it was a freebie so if it didn't happen I would have been sad but gotten over it. Now if I paid for it then I would be upset. lol I know they were also talking about charging for the diver at the beginning of this year but I guess they decided to keep it as a magical experience instead.

They could always do it "Vegas Style" and stick a neon running board on top and scroll all the b-days and anniversaries !!!

I was told that they were "holding" a diver spot for me....

Also was asked not to share her email add. but no mention was ever made of phone number (but then again, I don't have it since I didn't call in the first place)

But even if for some reason no diver shows, I will be disappointed, but understand..... and my friends will never know they were to expect it.... but they will get a shock enough with their pics in the menus!!!!

Awesome news! I am so glad to hear everything is set up! They really do make an effort to get you a good view for the diver so don't worry about that! They say us in the booths on the lowest level and the view was perfect! The diver swam right up to the middle of the 'window' we were in front of! Be sure to let us know how it went when you get back!

Would it be too silly to request a diver and menu for my 21 month old DGS
1st trip to WDW? We have a res for a 12:45 pm lunch in January.
Would love to just do a little something special to mark his first trip even though he is too young now to understand it.

Also he has no previous photos of him at Disney so could I request Debbie to do a variety of photos on the inside cover of Disney Characters instead?

A poster on another thread posted that the Coral Reef will not be offering the diver service in 2009,but you may want to try anyway just to be sure.
