I'm trying to keep expenses down by limiting what I purchase in the parks. Ideally the best way would be a small (17") pull along cooler, are coolers allowed?

Here's the cooler policy.

Cooler Policy for Theme Parks and Water Parks.

Magic Kingdom

Small coolers (that one person can carry) that will fit into the lockers under the Train Station are allowed. Coolers will be inspected for glass and alcoholic beverages which are not permitted.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Allowed ONLY for medical purposes. If a guest is in need of medication, they may bring a cooler and store it in a locker. If it will not fit into the locker, the cooler will be kept at Guest Relations. Coolers are not allowed in the Theme Park. Coolers will be inspected for glass and alcoholic beverages which are not permitted.

Disney-MGM Studios

Small coolers that will fit into the lockers are allowed. Coolers will be inspected for glass and alcoholic beverages which are not permitted.

Epcot

Small coolers (that one person can carry) that will fit into the lockers are allowed. Coolers will be inspected for glass and alcoholic beverages which are not permitted

Water Parks(Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon)

Coolers of a size that may be safely carried are permitted
No glass containers or alcoholic beverages allowed
No storage areas for coolers

Hi yes coolers with a maximun size of 24X15X18 are allowed :thumbsup2

You can bring a cooler but you can't bring one on wheels. If it has wheels you'll have to carry it.

That's the rule but I've seen them in the parks.... Don't believe it's enforced very well ...

I saw one last weekend. The dad was pushing it in front of him. A way around the rules. Once there is an serious injury accident with someone pulling a cooler behind them, I'm sure there will be a crackdown.

I wonder why they are not allowed. I can't see much danger in them

Oh well. They own the park

If it is behind you then you can't keep it in your line of sight to make sure it isn't running in to anything/anyone, or that something/someone else isn't running in to it. They have the same policy on wagons.

Pushing something in front of you allows you to keep an eye on it and watch where you yourself are going.

At the four major parks (AK, DHS, EC, MK) coolers are restricted to "small, soft-sided, which can fit in a locker". And they cannot be rolling bags.

The only restrictions that apply to all parks (theme and water) are nothing in glass containers (other than medicines and baby food) and no alcoholic beverages.

Some things people don't think about (which tend to be in glass) are pickles, salsa, Mayonnaise, Starbucks drinks, Snapple drinks, Tabasco.

At the water parks any type or size cooler is acceptable. I have seen people come through the gate (Typhoon Lagoon) hauling wheeled coolers about 4' x 3' x 2½'. Note that the cooler can be on two wheels or carried, but the way the rules are written you can not have it in a wagon and it cannot have four wheels.

If you show up at the gate with prohibited items we will give you three choices:
(1) Take prohibited items back to your car or resort.
(2) Put prohibited items in the nearby trash can.
(3) (Only for other than alcoholic beverages) If you have plastic bags or cups you can dump the items out of the glass containers and throw away the container.

Just left Disney this morning, we were there for 2 weeks and I saw quite a few people with small square coolers on wheels, not saying its allowed but they are around.. I honestly couldn't imagine having to deal with that amongst the crowds

Plus what do you do with it when you go on the rides? Leave it in the stroller parking area?

I couldn't believe how many people I saw dragging those things behind them 2 weeks ago!! How on earth did they get them in??

SHHH! I haven't had to buy a beverage or food in three years now by subsisting off of parked cooler foraging....... :rolleyes1:rotfl2:

I swear to you I saw a guy on Friday pulling a hard-sided igloo cooler over by Splash Mountain. It was huge! It was one of those "cube" coolers. We have one and they are very heavy and bulky. How did he get that through the gates??

We've had two encounters with the wheeled coolers. I fell over one at Epcot and cut both knees and hands...no apology or anything. There's never a CM around when you need one :) The second time, my husband crunched one with his ECV as they crossed directly in front of him at HS. They yelled, we smiled and said that they weren't supposed to have wheeled coolers in the parks...and a CM backed us up and told them they had to remove it from the park or carry it. We saw them later, and to their credit, they were carrying it.

Simple. They carry them in - they don't wheel them in. Or they promise to carry them around.

Quite honestly, I don't get the need to drag your entire refrigerator with you. Make some sandwiches, share some bought sodas (they are NOT that expensive and plentiful at carts all over the darn place), have a hard side container of chips and you are done.
