Coolers

I understand trying to stay on a budget, but I don't want to carry anything with me in the parks that isn't absolutely necessary. Welcome to DavidM66, but seriously, schlepping stuff around the parks gets old real fast. Be advised that ice water is available at no charge.:earsboy:

We have a small, soft sided lunch tote we were going to bring with water and snacks into the parks. Can we keep that in our stroller or does that need to go into a locker?

When I was there the 2nd week of June, I saw several people in all the parks pulling rolling coolers.

I had to laugh over the July 4th weekend and I saw several wheeled coolers as well. With the sticker of "pull along wheeled cooler" plastered on the side. :rotfl2: Security HAD to see them.

But quite honestly, having to deal with pulling something like that along behind me is not my idea of a vacation. I saw one lady who looked like she was going to need a long rest after the day in the parks lugging one of those things behind her. I want to have fun, not worry about where to park the thing while on the attractions and if my food is going to be OK to eat. And what made the entire situation head scratching was the people I saw with the coolers didn't have large families - that would be cost effective. But just four people or less? There are other ways to save money on food.

When we go to the parks we simply freeze water bottles over night. Pack them in a plastic bag and stow in your backpack. Keeps the person deemed pack mule (me) cool and we have ice cold h20 as we need it. As the day progresses we the backpack weight reduces as the water is drank. win win I say.

You can keep it with you. I guess the reason they say it has to fit in a locker is because they think people aren't going to want to carry them around all day. (Although I don't see how a small soft sided lunch tote is different from a backpack, which people carry around the parks all the time.)

This!

Our first few trips were really on a budget. In fact, we only ate in the parks once each trip, and never purchased soda. I think we did buy a few snacks in the park to share. We brought granola bars, yogurt (frozen), individual applesauce (again, frozen) and assorted crackers, etc.

And we had a WONDERFUL time just the same!

I actually had a conversation with a Guest Relations CM recently in which this came up.

She expressed her regret about them, confirmed they were not allowed and they are constantly removing them from the parks.

She then lamented that the people up front (both security at bag check and the people manning the turnstyles) need to do their job a little better.

Her words, not mine, just thought it was amusing to see how the people inside get frustrated at the people out front not doing their jobs. That is probably the reason more and more of these are seen. The CM's inside figure if the ones that are supposed to catch them aren't going to do their jobs, why should they.

Not saying I like, agree, or understand that attitude, just saying it's there.
