This might be something that's common knowledge to Dis veterans, but I've never seen it mentioned, so I wanted to share. It's just one of those things I never would have thought of on my own.

This past Wednesday morning, we were waiting for rope drop in DCA, so I decided to get fastpasses for the 6 of us for World of Color. Typically at a fastpass machine, I would be fumbling with inserting and removing one ticket at a time, trying to keep track of which tickets I had already scanned, and wishing I had a third hand to catch the fastpasses that are now spitting out onto the ground.:lmao:

This time, there was a CM who took my stack of tickets to scan them for me. He took the first one and inserted it. Instead of pulling it out, he just fed the next one right on top of it. One at a time, he stacked all 6 tickets into the slot, and used his free hand to catch the fastpasses that were being dispensed. In a matter of seconds, he handed me the 2 stacks and I was on my way back to my family.

I JUST started doing this in August after I also saw the CM at GRR do it for WOC passes! I never thought of it before, but for the next three days of our trip I did it and it was much more convenient!

This is SO helpful - thanks for taking the time to share!:goodvibes

Omg - you should have seen my dh's face when I just told him! He's the runner and prides himself on doing a good job of it.
What a great tip. He's thrilled and we can wait until 2013 to try it!!

Why am i not understanding this? I need a visual. Who wants to demo and put it on youtube, lol? It's only been a year, am I forgetting how the FP machines work? Normally, you stick one ticket in, it comes back out and a fp spits out another slot right? I'm always the designated runner so I need to understand this.

You may be thinking of the WDW FP machines, which suck the ticket in before spitting it and a FP out. At DLR parks the ticket is inserted and pulled out, more like a scan. OP suggests inserting the first, and subsequent tickets on top of each other so that you only have to pull out the stack of admission tickets once at the end.

I've never been to WDW, lol! I guess I was thinking they get sucked in and spit out though. I guess I will have to wait til Jan and see.

so you stuff all the tix in the same little slot? do they fit? our Dland tix are hard like credit cards....

I am familiar with the WDW ones too....

so do you just scan them all real quick not waiting for the fp to come out?:confused3

The machines are similar to the WDW ones, but the only difference is that the DLR ones do not eat your ticket for that slight second, and there's no little tray to catch the FPs. What the OP is saying is to speed things up a bit, you can stuff all the tickets into the little slot (one by one though), and the machine will print that many FPs. And this will work for the credit card type of tickets as well.

Think about newer ATM machines, or credit card readers on a gas pump. You insert your card and pull it right back out without letting go. Same concept here. The bar code is at one end of the ticket. You insert that end into the slot with the bar code facing UP. The code is read and the fastpass ticket immediately spits out from a different slot, which, as PP stated, lacks a tray of any sort to catch the ticket

Instead of pulling the admission ticket back out, stick it in the slot as far as it will go and LET GO. There will be about 3/4" that you were previously holding onto sticking out. Take the second admission ticket and feed it face up right on top of the first ticket. Second fastpass will spit out. Repeat this process until all tickets have been scanned. You will now have a neatly organized stack of park tickets in the slot, that you pull out all at once.

The ticket slot has to be thick to accommodate the plastic type tickets and APs. That's why multiple paper tickets will fit like this. I had 6 tickets which fit just fine. I'm not sure if you can feed more than this, or how many plastic type tickets will fit at once. Hope this helps.

For those needing a visual of the machine, maybe this will help? About Fastpass

:rotfl2: I told DH too and he actually seemed a little relieved. :thumbsup2

I can't believe I never knew about this! We will definitely take advantage of this tip with our family of 5.

I don't think this will work with APs or plastic cards. You might be able to get 2 in, but not three or more. Paper cards, you could probably get 4 in.

I can vouch that you can get at least two AP's in, as I did it once I figured out this trick.
