Convince me to fly out of Buffalo!

fly southwest out of buffalo and get 2 checked bags free per person plus your regular carry on and the tickets are almost half of air Canada, this alone would make up for the drive IMO

We have always flown from BUF, however, for our trip in December, I just booked with Sunwing at a cheaper fare than SW or JB. And its in CDN currency.

Just manage your expectations. I have flown both Jetblue and Sunwing, and they were hugely different experiences. The seating on SW is much, MUCH more cramped than Jetblue. And unless things have changed, the SW planes have one small drop down screen every so many rows that shows one movie on the way there and one on the way home (no TV on each seat, and no choosing what you want to watch).

Last week we flew Air Canada Rouge out of Pearson and I'm very happy that I'm flying Southwest out of Buffalo. I live 15 km from Pearson and I am still happy to drive to Buffalo in January. Ugh I hate Pearson. I hate Air Canada Rouge. It's worth driving to not have the hassle.

No movies at all on SW. Personally I don't need a movie for 2 hrs and 12 min of travel time.

Sunwing had movies on the drop down screens when we last flew with them in 2009. Of course they could have changed since then.

I, personally, enjoy having a TV at my disposal (short flight or not) but everyone is different.

I think I am confusing SunWing and Southwest (SW and SW) are they being used interchangeably in this thread?

Wrangling 2 kids I don't have time to watch anything, lol

If you're staying at a Disney hotel, there are more advantages to flying out of Buffalo than just price. When arriving at MCO, you are not required to collect your luggage - it will be transported directly to your room for you. Also, when flying home, Disney will have you boarding passes printed for you and you check your luggage right at your resort. You don't have to transport you own luggage at all, which would be a huge advantage when travelling alone with 3 children. For me, even if the price was the same I would still fly out of Buffalo for these advantages. It's just worth it to me.

Just FYI on this, I am from Ontario but flew out of Buffalo in September this year . On the day of checkout (Pop Century) we received our luggage tags and attempted to check our bags at the resort but they wouldn't take them. They said because our passports said we were from Canada but we were flying into Buffalo "regulations" would not allow them to accept our luggage and we would have to check our luggage at the airport ourselves. We attempted to get the issue pushed to a manager but they wouldn't budge. When I advised them All-Star Movies took our bags in June last year they said the "regulations" had changed.

It wasn't a huge deal, we just had bell services watch our bags and then checked them into the airport ourselves but it was a bit of an annoyance.

We were at Pop in September, flying out of Buffalo, but from Ontario. We checked our bags in at Pop on our way home, no problem.

Yeah, I thought it was their mess-up but we argued with them for quite some time and then even after we argued again for some time with the manager they called but we weren't able to change any of their minds. Our trip was from September 19 to the 26th. Just something to keep in mind since obviously different CSMs don't know the rules :).

We were there earlier in September. Hopefully rules haven't changed. It's weird how rules can change day to day though. Thanks for sharing your experience. :goodvibes

That CM (actually they're not disney CMs at bag drop they are contract) was obviously thoroughly confused. I've probably used DME 20 x to and from Buffalo and it's never been an issue checking our bags at the hotel.

Yeah, for the record I didn't think then (and still don't think now) that they couldn't take my bags. I knew they were wrong which is why I escalated things but I still didn't have any luck. I'm just letting people know my experience so they know it could happen to them as well if they get CSMs that don't know what they're doing. :)
