I told my husband that I booked a 2 night 3 days stay at Vero beach and he asked me what are we going to do there. Since we have never been before I told him that I was working on the research of this and would get back to him. He just looked at me with that face  and said BORING as did my 12 year old daughter as well. What shall I do!!!!!!!
Our stay time was going to be after a week at the Yacht Club in WDW. It would of ran from March 15-17. Please convince me that cancelling this will be regretted as well as the things that can be done there.
Any help is greatly appriciated.

I loved VB!

Lots of activities there. Great pool. They had lists of activities that they were holding throughout the day. Sort of like a cruise agenda (things like bingo, crafts, etc.).

It's very relaxing. We would like to go again in the summer.

We have not been to VB, yet! If it is as relaxing as HHI then I would say GO FOR IT!

After WDW it would be very nice to end the vacation with a couple of nights relaxing before going back home. Sometimes vacations can be a lot of work and you need a vacation from your vacation. A couple nights at VB might make you feel relaxed enough to go back to work and feel like you did have a vacation.

Try it you may just like it!

You didn't say what kind of unit you are reserving, but the ocean view inn rooms are absolutely fantastic!! The patios are huge, put your table out there for a meal, it's just wonderful!! There are walks along the beach--oops, you have a daughter going along, so forget about all the romantic aspects. There is a mall nearby, golfing, parasailing, boating, minigolf at the resort, as well as basketball, tennis, soccer fields. There are also craft activities scheduled everyday at the pool, as well as a DJ (which I found annoying, but the kids loved). I spent every morning from 8-12 just lounging in the pool, it's like bath water, and they have those "noodles" for your use.

While a week there would be too much for me, our 3 days was just wonderful! And they have a Sunday buffet (brunch) that just shouldn't be missed! Champagne with eggs is just a hoot, something most of us would never do at home!

So go to Vero, open your doors to the ocean, and have a wonderfully relaxing vacation!

We have stayed in both a 1 bdr and ocean view inn room. Two months ago we had the inn room. I can't tell you how much we loved that stay. It is completely relaxing. We actually kept our patio door open one night to listen to the waves. The next morning we got up and watched the sunrise from our balconey, had room service breakfast and went back to bed. There are tons of activities if you have kids. There are plenty of rentals for the ocean activities, as well. Jet skis, snorkel equip, etc. We are not usually pool people, but in October we spent an entire afternoon with our nieces playing board games in between swimming, then we played mini-golf. They have a campfire a few nights a week that is kind of fun also. It had been 3 years since we had been there and I told my DH as we were leaving we need to do this more often. Especially as low as the points are for an inn room during the week.

OMG Keep them coming.... Disney husband has been reading and is telling me not to cancel yet:teeth:

Here are a few links for you below.........we have stayed in the 1BR and the ocean view Inn rooms. They are both 'excellent".

P.S If your husband is a baseball fan the L.A. Dodgers hold there spring training games there in VB, 10-15 minutes from the resort

VB is awesome.

I don't think you'll be bored. They have a wonderful pool and water slide, mini golf, bikes you can take on bike tours, activities scheduled throughout the day-bingo, crafts, treasure hunts, treasure hunts in the pool, slide contests, balloon toss games on the croquet lawn, etc.

Sometimes they have a DJ by the pool.

You can get a one hour massage for $55-a bargain.

When we were there for Halloween they had activities for kids and for teens. They did a great job making sure all ages were happy.

The food is wonderful. Make sure and get a mug for the refills.

Dearest ellieb~You tell your DH only "Boring people get BORED!" :teeth: (JK!!)

We spend more than 2 months each summer in WDW, Vero and the Disney Cruise line. :sunny: This summer, (in fact...just yesterday), we have reserved 10 eves in a 1 BR Villa @ Vero. It's more than merely a Disney resort on the beach, it's Ocean front resort nostagia "Come to life!" This place offers so many things to do....or nothing at all. It's completely up to you.

We enjoy the self-serve underground parking, with the self-serve bell-carts for our luggage, convenient elevators and fabulous accomodations. On a rainy day, we simply take the elevator to the garage and jump in our truck (dry and safe from the Florida Strikes!), for a drive to the Indian River Mall. It is one of the cleanest and nicest malls we have ever visited. Very entertaining.

We love the staff, lobby, store/giftshop, restaurants, lounge, location, and other guests we meet. We enjoy the view, the ocean, biking, mini-golf, croquet, water-balloon toss, shuffleboard, bingo, the arcade, the fitness center, pool, snack-bar (awesome sundaes!), hair-braids, fishing, horseshoes, volleyball, D.J. poolside, basketball, tennis, turtle-walk (summer), watercraft on the ocean, entrance and floor of the lobby, rainstorms, bunnies (and other adorable wildlife), the BEST chicken strips, community hall and the prizes, etc.

It is one of our favorite destinations in Florida, and after a week in WDW, I can not think of a better way to unwind. Your DH & DD will NOT want to leave Vero. It's one of the BEST~KEPT secrets of WDW and the DVC. I hope you KEEP the ressies, and wish you and your family a wonderful time in the midst of the MAGIC on the Coast, which is DISNEY'S VERO BEACH! :sunny:

Absolutely go at least once! It is a great way to wind down after WDW and get to the beach, sip some cocktails by the pool, maybe get a massage at rub a dub, check out the activities such as Star Gazing at night on the front lawn etc.

We love VB always after a WDW trip - makes a great combo

thanks

walking on the beach watching the sunrise over the ocean (very scenic, as well as romantic)...we're used to the rocky beaches of Lake Superior so the sand was pretty cool for us.

Assuming you've got a car and don't mind a little bit of driving, there are all kinds of little "side trips" you can take. Our favorite was the Mel Fisher museum not far away, as well as the State of Florida museum, both giving lots of information about ancient shipwrecks and buried treasure (you could even take along a metal detector and try to find your own treasure); we have to buy a piece or two of "Atocha" silver every time we come down.

Then there's Port Canaveral if you're into space and technology; Ron Jon's Surf Shop if you're into shopping, etc. Just driving around looking for orange and grapefruit trees can be fun if you're not from the area.

After a little sightseeing you can really look forward to relaxing by the pool, or in the lounge, or on the beach. Can't wait till we can go again!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

In March? Any baseball fans? You can check out the Dodgers at the spring training site in Vero Beach and catch a game or two. It's a fun way to spend some time.

My DW and I spent three nights there after a week at WDW and it couldn't have been more relaxing. If you are anything like us, and go "all out' when you are staying in WDW, a few days wind down time with a little sun, swimming, and some time spent with a good book by the pool is just what the doctor ordered. :sunny:

We are tacking on 3 nights (2bedroom lockoff) at VB after our OKW stay in Feb... Really looking forward to it, as it will be our first visit there. I also want to add a couple of nights at VB after our October trip, but DH wants to make sure we like it first.... I told him fine... I cant book it right now anyways! LOL

I think you should go... 2 nights... I mean if you hate it (and I dont think that will happen) it is only for 2 nights. Nothing like being there to make up your mind. Ya know?

We are off for 5 days in mid-January. OK, so my kids are younger than yours is (mine are 6 and 4), but we are planning to visit a grapefruit grove (yum) this being Indian River country, the botanical gardens and also the Manatee center. I think the Manatee center might appeal to your 12 yr old if she is a budding marine biologist, plus manatees are just really cool (when I mentioned our upcoming trip to an 11 yr old niece and a 13 yr old godchild, they both thought it sounded pretty cool).

Also check out what the Member Guidebook recommends for local activities. There should be plenty to strike your family's fancy.

GGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Granted, I had to stay in the shade the last 2 1/2 days of our stay at VB in May, 2003, but THAT was due to 2nd degree sun-burns on my back and shoulders!

Believe me, my DW would call me boring, but I was NOT bored at VB. It will be a welcome relief for your DH, after a stay at WDW.

Have fun at VB!!

Dave

We took our first trip to VB last summer after 10+ years of going to OKW. I always figured without the Disney World/Orlando excitement, what could there be to do. Well after our first visit we are looking forward to going back. The resort is so beautiful and RELAXING. So nice after a week or so in the parks, etc., at Disney. We spent 2 nights there in an Inn room/garden. I think next time we will try 3 nights and try for an ocean view Inn room. We got to VB and never left for those 2 nights which is unusual for me, as I like to explore surrounding areas and get bored easily. ;) My 7 year old enjoyed the pool and just listening to the ocean was soothing. My wife and noticed that the cast members were extremely friendly and even more 'Disney' than the ones at Disney World (at least on this past trip.) It is definately someplace to experience at least once and then you can all decide for yourself.

Well, you guys sure sold me!!! I was thinking about doing VB for something different in the summer of '05. We're used to Cape Cod, so I wasn't too sure if it would be too quiet for my dh. The 'busyness' of WDW and BW is what sold him on DVC! But, I think that VB will be the perfect ending to our trip. 4 days in WDW and 4 days in VB. Now, I have to ask those of you that do this......do you fly into MCO and rent a car for the drive to VB? About how long is the drive?

We always fly into MCO and rent a car

.You will get the cheapest and largest selection of flights from there. When we do a combo trip (VB+OKW) we do VB 1st and then only have a 20 minute drive to the airport from OKW on the return.

From the airport to VB is 96 miles, about 1 hr and 20 minutes.
