Controversial topics board....did I do something wrong?

Automatic cars don't roll.
they can... know for a fact edit: but agree very rare... this why even back in the day in drivers ed ( with automatic) to pass the test you parked on a hill and depending on direction had to turn wheels too curb... now rolling is rare but can happen. Same with putting a manual in gear you still used the parking break if on a hill. or even as my BIL who lives really hilly, put a stopper thing behind he wheels.

Either the lights are blinding or they're not. The lights aren't changing depending on why you stop.

Just because they're brighter doesn't mean they're blinding. You said the blinding lights are an "increasingly common phenomenon". I'm trying to find where you get your stats.

my friend works at vision place... big issue for older and those with glasses and night driving. Halogen are the worst

I don't drive an automatic.
If I'm in the US and I hire an automatic I put the car in park at a traffic light.

The bulk of the conversation seemed to be revolving around automatics.

You're a rare breed of driver if you put your car in park at traffic lights in the US. Not saying there's anything wrong with it, just that it's very uncommon to do so.

For what it's worth - that's talking about headlights (which, I agree, have definitely gotten brighter over the years).

ford family was saying that brake lights are blinding. I don't think those have changed in brightness over time (at least not that I know of).

Has Tippy Thomas go to the parks or just post on DisBoards.... Curious minds are curious.
Why does it matter? Does it matter when one was last in the parks? Does it matter how often one went to the parks? What, in your mind, should be a determining factor on whether someone is allowed to post? Curious minds are curious.

No it wouldn't :p
I did a reply because I can't do this emoji as a reaction...

Curiosity only. Or is that not allowed by you? Do you determine what and whom can think what? Is there a rule book according to Sam Gordon that one may view to learn this?

Curious minds are curious, Mao.

Well, since I can't answer the question about whether Tippy has gone to a park, I thought I'd ask you a question. I'm all for open discussions. Ask/say anything you want.

Well since I was curious, I asked.

Considering the question wasn't addressed to you, I'd say it's not a discussion.

But to each their own right?

It’s a strange one. I think you and I maybe are of a similar generation. When I was taught to drive a manual, at traffic lights, I pressed the foot brake, put the hand brake on and put the gear into neutral. Never rode the clutch. Then setting off, I released the handbrake as I lifted the clutch, felt the accelerator engage.
But with an automatic I just use the foot brake, unless there is a long wait because of a motorway traffic jam etc. When I use the foot brake the stop start engages. I have never considered putting the car in park and using the handbrake at traffic lights. Headlights full beam annoy me, but I don’t think that I have ever been dazzled by rear brake lights. Hmmmm.
