How is the bus service from CR to AK and DHS? We'll have a car. Would we be better off driving to these parks?

Thanks,

CR shares with a few of the other deluxes. It seemed like a long trip to me but I don't think driving is any better.

I have found the buses to be ok and it's really a matter of luck, because you might have a very little wait or you might wait a while. So it's no different then any other WDW Resort with bus transportation. What I can say for sure is no matter what location you take a bus to, on the return trip the Contemporary is always going to be the very 1st stop.

Thanks for the information. It's great to know we'll be the first ones off.

CR Resort Fan 4 Life, I've noticed your very helpful and polite posts on these threads and really appreciate the information you've provided. This is our first trip to WDW and we're very excited about being at the CR. I'm sure I'll have more questions. Thanks again.

The CR shares bus service with GF and Poly. I recall that CR was first in drop off and pick up (meaning you'll stop at GF and Poly when you leave but not when you return). If that is backwards, I apologize.

I've both had a car at the Poly and driven to AK and DHS. I think both were a bit faster by car on the average and the car was more comfortable for me. I think a car would save about 5-15 minutes each way, depending on the luck of just exactly when the bus arrived at the stop. FYI you get free parking at the parks.

Travelling by car is _much_ faster to Downtown Disney, and the water parks. You could easily save 30 minutes each way. Also, if you book an character meal at DHS or AK which seats before park opening, a car will save stress and time, as the buses only run to the character meals at 30 min interval (if at all).

When we stayed in at the Poly in Dec, we always opted to take our car...The buses share between the GF, CR and Poly and it always seemed quicker to us to use our car.

Have a great trip!

I've found the bus waits to be really long at CR, I'm sure because of the shared bus situation. My preference would be to drive to AK and DHS.

Would it be generally faster to hop the monorail one stop and catch the bus from the TTC for AK or HS?:listen:

When we were there in August, most of the time the CR shared with WL, not GF and Poly. So I think it depends on crowd level at the 4 resorts.

Thanks for the info. We're going in late May when it will be fairly busy. We'll definitely consider driving to those parks.

We tried this on our last trip and it didn't really save much time IMHO, but it did "feel" faster. I am a bit impatient! lol

One side note though...you cannot do this if you are trying to make it to an EMH park. We got to the TTC at 7:15am in hopes to get to DHS by 8:00 AM for the EMH and a bus did not arrive until 8:00AM. We were not happy campers that morning.

It was 7:45am before my DH went to ask what the deal was with the bus...by then it was not worth to ride the monorail back to CR for the bus. We got to DHS at 8:20.

Thanks HannaBelle! That one is going on my "things to remember so we stay happy campers" list.

You're welcome and I am always happy to help answer any questions when it comes to the Contemporary.

The way you said that was correct.

I have noticed when the Contemporary shares bus service with the Wilderness Lodge, it was only in the mornings and in the afternoon they would go back to sharing with the Polynesian and Grand Floridian.
