Contemporary or Beach Club?

We went to Stormalong Bay when DD was in high school. I would wait until your kids are strong swimmers and probably older.

This is what I'm worried about. My youngest won't get in the water at all right now. While the other 2 love the water, I don't think they are strong swimmers right now or would venture out to the slide and stuff.

There were 5 of us. Dh, me and our 3 kids-17, 14 and 12. They got partially dressed under the covers!

I wish there was a curtain at the BC in the sink area. 2 people could get dressed at the same time or one could be in the shower/on the toilet while the other is getting dressed.

The Poly BR was bigger and had s place to put clothes but again only one in there although my family will use the toilet when someone is in the shower. But I wish there was a curtain at the entrance hall for another dressing spot.

The YC refurb was after the BC one and the YC now has a barn door seperating the sink area from the bedroom area. OP, I know that your original question was comparing Contemporary with BC, but I vote for the YC. We have stayed at both the Contemporary as well as the YC and the BC. I like the YC better than BC because the rooms have a full balcony and also it is the first stop for the bus which then goes on to BC. YC also has the barn door seperating the sink area. What I did not like about the monorail from the Contemporary to Epcot was that you had to transfer at the TTC to the Epcot monorail. It seemed to make the trip to Epcot take too long. I don't think that the pool at YC/BC is that overwhelming. The sand area is shallow and off by itself and my kids loved that area even when they were 10 and 11. It is really easy to watch kids in that area. The first time that we stayed there my kids were about 7 & 8 and they loved it. Good luck with your decision!

I don’t know about the CR. But we just came back from a BC/Poly split. I was disappointed in the BC room size and the bathroom. The bathroom was jsut the toilet and shower behind the door but it was small. The sink area was great out side that. Just made it hard to get dressed as no where to put clothes and the steam from the post shower and getting dressed is not enjoyable.

When we got to th Poly I was so happy that the room was HUgE and this is coming from someone who only liked the 3 newer Poly building ps because they are a bit bigger.

Not sure room size of the CR.

I was planning a Poly/BC split next year. Have stayed at the Poly and love it. Which one did you do first? What were you disappointed with - either hotel?

Contemporary. (or a split stay with CR/Wilderness Lodge.)

CR has the greatest lobby in the universe, Monorail access to EPCOT, walking path (and short security line!) access to the MK, an extremely cool fourth floor to explore, and frankly it is the best building ever made.

We did BC for 5 nights then Poly for 5. Most of my life I have stayed st the Poly so I knew what to expect and I had only stayed at the BC in 1990 when it opened.

I chose to do the Poly last because it’s my favorite and I like to see the castle on my last days watch the boats, the monorail and I used to be able to hear the MK before the kiddie area.

When at the BC, my dh said he didn’t like it. I don’t know why, I think he just never stayed there and knew the Poly. I loved the walk to Epcot and what is not to love about the pool! So much space to swim. My kids all voted the slide as OK, it hurt their back when it switched from one slide bottom to another-I went on it but I don’t remember that since I was just trying to breathe from the climb up and I wasn’t completely flat. I also thought the room was small. There are 5 of us so yes a room is going to be small but it felt tight. I did not like the small bathroom (toilet/shower) especially for getting dressed post shower-I like to be dry to get dressed and after a shower in the small space you just can’t dry, aka moisture. I got over just having a Juliette balcony which we did not use!

I was afraid I was not going to like the Poly after this stay, you know cheating on it. The first day at the Poly, my DS and I went to the lava pool, it was crowded but could of been worse. It rained, we came out and then once clear we went to the oasis pool. It wat was less crowded and quieter for sure. As I was swimming. And looking around, I said to myself I am home. The rooms were far bigger and I always preferred Tokelau which was even bigger then Rarotonga where we were this past trip (that’s my new fav). I also wish there was some kind of curtain but from the door to the bathroom door/end of closet for another dressing spot. The only downfall which my dh hated was the crowded pool. Ok I hated it too. I mean kids were jumping I SAB all over but that pool is bigger. Here kids would jump right in, inches from you. Yes I have kids but I think I taught them to be respectful as I never let them jump in there or if they did, there were not people with in splashing distance! My kids also liked the slide better here as it was one piece. My son did miss playing volleyball.

There isn't???? That is not cool. GF was like this too. Seems like a real flaw to me.

No! But from an above poster, the YC has barn doors.

If you are going strictly for ease of access to MK than I would go with the Contemporary.

But if you are going for an overall resort experience that will give you the most amenities within walking distance (better pool, more restaurants to walk to, entertainment options (boardwalk) walk to 2 parks etc than I would go with the beach club.

Thank you! I didn't even think to check out YC but now, I will!

I love this. Would you recommend staying in the main tower or garden wing? I've heard people like garden wing to be closer to pool but the main tower has a special feel to it as you're right in the middle of it all!

Thank you! The Beach Club seems like it would offer a whole lot more. I'd love to visit the Boardwalk at night!

I would do a split stay too. There are so many resorts to experience at WDW, and with a longer stay of 8 days, you can explore two!
I’ve stayed at both and would stay at either again in a heartbeat... but I want to try the other resorts also....
and I would definitely plan a resort day at both if you can.

The Tower. It's amazing to see the monorail go straight through the hotel. The views from both sides are great, although I like the theme park view more. It's also closer to the restaurants and walking to Magic Kingdom. I don't like going outside my hotel to get to my room.

Ughhh. I don't like going outside my hotel to get to the room, either. So, we would probably stay tower then. Thanks!

Thank you! I'll have to look into doing a split stay!

Can I ask why?

Sure. I love how small the resort is. We just did a split stay at both and I wish we had stayed at the contemporary the whole time. It’s so much smaller and I love that everyone is in one place on the 4th floor. Chef mickeys, plus the quick service and stores. Plus the drink station is open 24 hours. We also spend our most time at mk, so the convenience is awesome.

The pool is fine and we love the quietness of the whole area.

The yacht club for me personally way too spread out and I don’t love the sand in the bottom of the pool. There is also not someplace to fill my drink 24 hours and we do late nights.

Great reasons. I am not sure how I will like the sandy bottom either. Not a big fan of sand.
