Contemporary or Beach Club?

We spent 10 days at WDW and stayed at the Contemporary. When we left the CR I couldn't figure out why anyone would stay anywhere else. :) I love the look and feel of the whole resort, but above all, the location can not be beat. 16 days though, boy, a split stay might be fun to compare and contrast!

We won't be staying 16 days. I should have clarified lol. It was 16 days till we are in Disney to be able to book the free dining bounce back. Now, its only 3! We will be staying 8 nights/9 days next year. I love being so close to MK. Did you stay in Garden Wing or Main Tower? The main tower is a little steep price wise but if it's worth it, then Disney can take my money! :rotfl:

Gotcha!!

We pretty much knew we were going to be Garden Wing people right off the bat. My husband can be sensitive about his sleep and takes napping pretty seriously. I had read that in some parts of the main tower it can get pretty noisy so I didn't want to chance it. It worked out perfectly for us. We were in the dead center of the farthest part of the Garden Wing. We had a gorgeous view of the lake and all the wildlife that hangs out there. Only problem, opening the slider meant inviting mosquitoes in. We only opened it once for about a minute and we realized our mistake immediately lol.

Just to add, it is a bit more of a walk back there. I have a 13 year old who is as big as a man so the walk was not hard for us. With little kids you might want to be closer.

I felt the same way. We did a pop/contemporary/yacht club split stay and wish we had stayed at the contemporary the whole time. I just didn’t love the yacht club vibe. Can’t wait to stay at the contemporary again.

That’s a hard question for me because I loved staying at both of those places! The walking access to MK from BLT was awesome and the walking access at BC to Epcot was invaluable too. We’re not pool people so I barely remember the pool at BC because we only went for a short amount of time one afternoon.

Just remember to take time to enjoy the resort while you are there. We have stayed value, mod and deluxe and my biggest regret was not enjoying the deluxe resorts more. When we stayed at AKL we were gone the whole time I barely remember anything about it. Didn’t even go out to view the animals!

Thank you! I haven’t read that about the main tower but I can imagine it can get pretty noisy with the monorail and Chef Mickey’s. Lol! My son is allergic to mosquitos so we definitely wouldn’t be opening the slider! How far away is the building from the tower?

What room view do you stay in?

This is exactly why it’s hard for me to choose since MK and EP are our two favorite parks! We love the pool but we are normally always in the parks and only in the pool for a short time. We’ve stayed at Pop and Coronado Springs but needed a change. POR was on my list as well until I narrowed it down to these 2!

We have just booked a split stay at these. 5 nights at the contemporary in the tower with a theme park view and 6 nights at the beach club.

I couldn’t decide. We arrive Christmas Eve and I am so looking forward to watching wishes from my balcony in my jammies.

We have stayed at the yacht club before and we loved it. The location was fabulous.

I'm not sure I could manage a split stay with my 3 littles. You'll have to come back and let me know how you liked each resort! We're leaving for Disney on Thursday so I need to make my decision quickly lol!

OMG. That sounds so amazing! I'd love to go at Christmas time for this very reason!

I don’t blame you. We didn’t do a split stay with ds till he was 9. I think he’d have managed when he was younger but we only have 1 to organise.
I hope you have a great trip wherever you decide between the 2 I’m sure you will.

Have you decided? sorry, I'm very eager to know!

I stayed at the BC when I was about 8 and the pool took my breath away. Stormalong Bay is seriously incredible, if you stay at the BC you might even want to do a park-free day and just enjoy the pool. But if your youngest is 3 that could make things more complicated. We are going with my 5 year old and 2.5 year old and staying at the Contemporary. My kids aren't strong enough swimmers yet to really enjoy Stormalong Bay. I am definitely looking forward to staying at the BC in a few years! We stayed at the Contemporary last year too, and we enjoyed walking to MK. We got park hoppers and rope dropped MK every morning, then whenever it started getting crowded we would hop to a different park. It is also a really good compromise with my husband who loves to sleep in vs. me who loves to rope drop. He can get a few extra mins of zzz's because I know we don't have to worry about the bus schedule, and we get to go through separate security that isn't usually crowded.

This was me. I stayed at the BC when it opened and I love to swim so the pool was a big hit then and now. The last time we went in 2013, my dh was adamant about not doing a split for our 10 days. He knew and liked the Poly and that was it, but who am I to complain since the Poly is my favorite! Our youngest was 7 that trip and could swim, dive, go fetch crap in the deep end but at the Poly we could be sitting in at a table and see her and our other 2 in the entire pool, well except one small area of the zero entry.

Now she is 12 (my other 2 are 17 and 14) and while there is always a risk at any age for pool mishaps I felt better staying at the BC early this month and I convinced dh to do a split there “it’s a little cheaper then the Poly”. I saw my kids in the pool and primarily 2 swam together but I’d didn’t have the eagle eye on them and I could swim with out them handing on me!

Same as a water park, we finally did one in 2013 because they could all swim.

Do you do an even split ?

I did an even split, 5 nights at BC followed by 5 nights at Poly. I felt like I jipped my Belived Poly though! The BC we had 3 pool days-arrival and 2 non park days. We moved on a park day and did the Poly pool mid day but did a water park on one of our Poly pool days. I just didn’t have enough time to enjoy the Poly like I wanted to. I still had a full pool day there, and our departure day we left the pool at 4 but it wasn’t the same.

Next time I think I will do 2-4 days at the BC with 2 being a pool day and 6-8 at the Poly but that’s in 4 years 11 months and 2ish weeks so we shall see.
