Who has them?
To make this brief, I tried going for contacts right after my 13th birthday. I was very squeamish, and needless to say it didn't work. I'm going back this Monday. I'm less squeamish now, but I still would like some info from those veterans, lol.

Who wears contacts?
Good? Bad?
Tips or tricks?

I am so nervous because I get very paranoid when things go into my eye when I'm unprepared.

I waer contacts:)

I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!!!!! They look so much better then glasses and are so much easier then glasses. They never fog up and theres no chance of something hitting the glass making the glass crack.

The most important thing is to keep the contact clean when putting it in. Trust me when I say it hurts like you-know-what when something is on the contact when it goes in:scared1:

I had contacts, but I had to give them up. I have a phobia of something poking my eye, so it just wasn't working because I was putting them in wrong.

I just told my mom that when I get to my goal weight (I'm dieting) I want contacts. Glasses are so annoying, and they're making me extremely frusterated today.

Hah, I always joke that I need wipers for my glasses. Sooo annoying. I really do hate my glasses. I think I look so much better without them, because glasses take away from my face. lol, not trying to be arrogant or anything.
I hated my glasses so much, I didn't wear them all year in the 8th grade...

I got contacts in 9th grade. I love them. They're so much more comfortable. The only thing that sucks is that they get dry when you take naps (unless you get the overnight kind) and sometimes when you rub your eyes they fold back into your eye.

About you saying that you freak out when something goes in your eye when you're unprepared... you're the one putting the contacts in your eye besides at the eye doctor. I think you'll be fine.

I have cute glasses and all, but I do think they kind of cover up my pretty eyes.

Love them!!!!!!!!

I just got contacts not too long ago! I like them- except for those times when I fall asleep without meaning to and then they get stuck on my eyes and I'm all O___O when I wake up. It's not the most comfortable thing in the world then. :headache:

And it feels a bit off when your wearing them for the first time. They don't hurt, but it took me a while to get used to the fact that there was something sitting on my eyes. It just feels like you have a piece of plastic sitting there (which you do), but after a while you get used to it and you hardly feel it anymore (if at all).

I was the EXACT same way about touching my eyes tho at first, so I completely understand what your dealing with. I couldn't even get the contacts in my eyes the first day they tried to teach me how to do it. I tried...and tried...and tried...but the more I did, the more eyes watered, the more they spit the contacts out and the more frustrated I got.

I DIDN'T GIVE UP THO! And the next day, I went back in, tried again, AND I GOT THEM IN! :D

If your eyes start to freak out, then try focusing on the mirror rather than your hand/contact lens. That's what I do and it helps A LOT.

Good Luck!

Love them! Glasses annoy me so much.

I also have a problem with things touching my eyes. When I first got my contacts it took me about 45 tries to get it in my right eye and about 30 to get it in my left eye. It was super frustrating for the first week, but after that I was good to go!

i love my contacts!
WASH YOUR HANDS before putting them into your eyes.
if you cant get them in the first time dont get annoyed. let your eyes ajust and try again in like 5 minutes.
what kind of contacts are you getting?
i would get ones with hydroclear if you get Acuvue that is.

I got my first contact lenses at 12. Both my parent's wear them so they were a lot of help. It was hard for me the first time but in a week I would put them in sooo easy. Before I could leave the eye doctor I had to be able to put them in and take 1 out(it took me an hour), when I first put them in it felt funny but once I had them in I forgot about them. I love them a lot more than my glasses. They are easier for me to put in now, I can put both of them in under 20seconds. I hope you enjoy getting yours.

Seriously, I've had mine about a week and a few days and I'm already wearing them most of the time. They're so much better than glasses and you don't notice them.
What works for me, is I tip my head when I'm putting them in and I look away from the mirror. I don't know, looking at myself put it in , bothers me. I hold it for a bit and wait.
It's not my finger hitting my eye that bugs me, it's the solution on the contact, I don't like any sort of substance hitting my eye.

My only problem is my right eye feels like I have an eyelash in it, for a lot longer than it should. So it bothers me, so it waters. Then it's really bugging me so I start crying and freaking out.
But it was a lot better today.

Sonya, all I can say is to work at it. The optomitrist is there to help you until you get them in, and will coach you through it. It took me no time to get used to it, and I was having a hard time when I was at Costco getting them.

I have contacts and i LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!! they're soo much better than glasses!!! [at least in my opinion; i look much better w/o glasses]

i use acuvue oasis, they're so soft you can hardly feel them there!!!!
i was a little squeamish about putting them in, and for the first 50 times i attempted to put them in [the usual way, just putting it straight on your eye with one finger] it wouldn't work because my eyelashes are too long, and whenever i poked them i would blink. [so, naturally, it ended up taking me an hour to get my contacts in.]

but i found another way, just taking two fingers and spreading it out on the bottom corner of your eye, and then looking down there and blinking. [sort of like the usual way, except it requires two fingers.]

kinda confusing-sounding, i know. but now that i've gotten over taking an hour to put them in my eyes, they're soo comfortable and so much better than glasses, and i haven't had any trouble with them.

Contacts didn't work me.
I have super awesome glasses though. I think they're just as cool.

i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE CONTACTS.

so i've had glasses since first grade (that's how bad of eyes i have) and i got contacts in fifth grade.

i got past the whole poking myself in the eye and after the first few days i got totally used to it.
as an athlete i love them because i'm a sweater and contacts really help me get away from not being able to see.

ive been wearing contacts for the last 4 years i think
at first i couldnt get it right either, but the second time i was good to go :]

good things about contacts:
no more rain drops on your glasses lol
you can see good all around instead of just the lense
more attractive for most people
you can lay down watching tv and not have to move your glasses so the lenses are where the tv is lol

bad parts:
you cant just randomly nap anywhere unless you have your solution and case, unless you're willing to wake up with really dry contacts :/
sometimes if they get something in them, they irritate your eyes really bad
their see through, so when you drop them, their kinda hard to find again lol

but i would deff recommend them

I got contacts in 7th grade, but i didn't wear them all the time. I started re-wearing them during my freshman year of high school and now I wear them all the time (i'll be a junior)

If you have a problem with putting them in, they do make smaller contacts for people with larger eyelashes. I had to switch because I could never get them in.

The only bad part is you can't sleep in the normal kind...=[

I definatly recommend contacts!

You can nap and usually they don't affect me, but falling asleep at night with them on... not always best. You wake up with your contacts reaaaaallly dry, but if you do that, just re-wet them with solution and remember to take them out the next night, unless you get those 24/7 contacts where you can sleep in them and they don't dry out overnight.

Another good thing:
You'll get confidence. :] I got contacts in 6th grade ( now a freshman in college). Mom and I agreed I could get contacts since I had to get a mouth full of braces. And while it definitely took a couple days to get used to them, they were TOTALLY worth it. I felt way better about myself

My advice is just practice. Practice getting used to the idea of putting something on your eye. Just "mess around" and figure out what works best for you when putting them on. I figured out that putting contact solution in the contact before putting them on my eyes helps me adjust to putting them on. I can't stand a semi-dry contact.

Also, if you do get them, keep your glasses for the days when your eyes may be tired/irritated while they are rare, glasses definitely help.

i have them. i was scared to get them to begin with, you know that paranoia of having something that close to your eyeball and all. but they are pretty easy to get in and to get used to if your adament about it. :3

Contacts are great, and I wore them a lot last year.
But I think I look better wearing my glasses, and I prefer wearing my specs, just because I'm used to it.
