Construction Pics @ Contemporary

Sooooooo.....You're quoting yourself quoting you're own "confused" source now????

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ;)

Actually if you look a little closer that is DVCPAT's comment, not mine. Something is wrong with the quote feature in this thread.

Well, my source clammed up too. Possibility of a shared structure, with Resorts in control (DVC a sub?). Not sure how this would work. Seems there was a fight between resorts and DVC? Higher ups (way higher ups) worked out a compromise...but man, the value of my input is as much as you paid for it :surfweb:

I have a reliable source, too...

It is called a permit. :lmao:

No, really. That long permit filed in November mentions DVC and Disney Vacation Club SEVERAL times. :teacher:

Geeze all of the informed people. First Golf Starters suggesting EP and now a monrail operator suggesting CRV.

How could we possible doubt this.

Not to be argumentative but... My comment was intended to illustrate how matter-of-fact the "rumor" has become... everyone, including the monorail pilots, is talking about it... NOT to claim that the cm's are the absolute authority on what's happening.
:goodvibes

Guys and Gals I really do not understand why everyone is so vehement that what is going on is just a rehab. Apparently they just can not believe their lying eyes. Tennis Courts gone, Parking lot torn up, large planters moved into the way, barriers between the resort and the water, diagrams by an achitectural firm, and demolition permits. None of these things were done for the South tower.

I am not going to say it is going to be announced immediately, but this is not a rehab. I will be the first to come back on and apologize profusely if I am wrong, I hope all of the rehab people will be just as big to admit they are wrong.

In addition the administrator for another Walt Dsney World site has announced (in the last week) it is definitely going to happen (do not know if I am allowed to name another web site and do not want to break any rules, but will be glad to if I am allowed.) The administrator is not one of the ones that is always announcing every rumor and I have not seen him be wrong about anything in the last two years.

In the words of Earl Pitts "Wake up America" this is not a rehab.

Hooray!!! Finally someone who sees what's going on at the Contemporary. I was there for the rehab of the South Wing and during the renovation, the wing was not completely closed nor was the parking lot torn up. The North Wing is being prepared for demolition. There are dozens of permits (which have been posted on this forum) that have said demolition of the North Wing, Storage of Construction equipment for DVC @ the Contemporary, etc. Disney has the final say on whether the new building will be DVC or not (yes - there will be a new building replacing the North Wing in the next few years).

Contemporary might be very well the next DVC. They may even be getting read to take down the North Wing. But comparing the work on the South Wing proves nothing. The South Wing did not have extensive hurricane damage and only needed in room rehab. It did not have to have asbestos removal.

So while I will be the first to say that I am not sure what is going on right now with the North Wing after the asbestos removal, using the South Wing as a basis is not accurate.

Personally I think they are doing asbestos removal and in the process laying the groud work for DVC at a later date. Whether DVC goes in quickly or not, remains to be seen. I mean they could truthfully piddle around over there for a year.

I am sure eventually DVC will be there. Who knows when. :confused3

Sorry but I disagree. What does extensive hurricane damage have to do with them tearing up the tennis courts and the parking lot? There is much more than a simple renovation going on at the North Wing. Why would Disney file for so many permits which all say demolition of the North Wing when they are only doing a simple renovation? So many questions - so few answers. IMHO the North Wing is coming down very soon and a new building will replace it.

I will agree that the parking lot situation and removal of the tennis courts reflects something different. I was simply comparing the work done on the South Wing which is what you mentioned.

Still waiting on that ressie at eagle pines for christmas week...er....whats that you say........

North Wing and South Wing were built simultaneously. If one needed asbestos removal so would the other. Im not following you

Asbestos only has to be removed if it was exposed. South wing it was not exposed. North wing, due to hurricane damage, was exposed.

Another interesting tidbit on the rumor mill. And basically until construction starts it is all rumor, as Eagle Pines reminds us.

I was told this weekend that 5 projects are on the table for DVC and yes Contemporary is under consideration but that until the asbestos removal is complete, no decision there. I was also told that Grand Floridian and Polynesian were not in the long range plans.

So if the Contemporary is one of the 5, what are the other 4? :rolleyes1

Animal Kingdom Lodge
Contemporary
Disneyland
Hawaii
Castaway Cay (Don't tell me there are too many bugs. Don't you think there were bugs in the WDW before Disney got there? As soon as Disney shows up, the bugs head out of town).;)

Sammie, You should give this it's own thread.

It's very reasonable to expect DVC to continue to be build. It's really not a question of if, but where and when.

The only rumor fodder I have been given directly was last March from my guide who said DVC already had funding at that time for two projects, and had plans for 4 others (IIRC, maybe it was 3) as well. If that were accurate (which I am not suggesting at all), AKV obviously is one this was funded. CRV funded? Well some work is being done there. GCV? How much work was being done on AKV before it was even more than just another weak rumor? Could something being going on now, even early in the project, that is completely off the radar screen?

Other projects unfunded - EP, GCV, CRV, Hawaii...

As far as the Contemporary goes, this still begs the question- why demo the tennis courts and dig up the parking lot? :confused3 The permits were filed after CRV was supposedly a dead deal and now that they have demo'd the courts and are digging up ground, it's "under consideration." What will they say when the wrecking ball shows up? :rolleyes1
