What would you pay for a gymboree dress at consignment ? How about a 2 piece short outfit from gymboree as well? I am having a hard time trying to figure out what to price my gymboree clothes for an annual consignment sale.

Our consignment sale recommends pricing name brand clothing at 30-40% of retail if it is in pristine condition. Don't price your clothes too high - there is a good chance they won't sell. I am on the committee for my church's consignment sale in a suburb of Atlanta. We have noticed the last few sales that the items priced lower are selling faster. In years past, people were really buying the name brand clothing, regardless of price, and it just hasn't been the case lately. I guess the economy is hitting all areas.

Think of what you would pay for an item if it was someone else selling the same thing.

I'm hosting one in NY (Westchester County) next month and most people are tagging clothes at $1, regardless of brand. A few things are being tagged higher (winter coats in pristine condition, Gymboree new with tags items, Hanna Andersson dresses in mint condition), but the majority of things are $1. I know this isn't probably what you want to hear, but I have been encouraging everyone in our sale to "price to sell". You might do better if you have pristine Gymboree outfits all in one size trying to sell them as a lot on Craigslist. Hope this helps you! (FYI, ours insn't truly consignment...sellers pay $35 to sell as much as they want, but then they keep all the $ from their items).

We've been buying lots of clothing lately for a 2-year old boy and a 4-year old girl. It would have to be something special to get us to pay over $1 per piece. Gymboree wouldn't qualify as special.

OMG! The last community wide consignment sale I went to (I was looking for a toddler bed), the women came in droves -- with friends -- and were screeching about finding "name brand" (Gymbo, GAP, Hanna Anderson, etc) in the racks.

It was a yuppie mom madhouse, and I just walked away....

Check ebay to see if you have any Hard To Find items and price below that. I can't believe people were selling Gymboree or Hanna for $1. Hanna goes very, very high on ebay, in consignments and Gymbo can as well. I would love to hit that sale!

I suppose it depends greatly on the area, but I buy enough stuff directly from Gymbo for less than $5 that I wouldn't pay more than $1 or $2 for any used item. NWT, maybe I'd go more, but not much!

Hanna Anderson is significantly spendier to begin with, so maybe more for that, but it would have to be pristine - which, by the time my kids grow out of things, they're not! :rotfl:

Here is a link to one of the consignment sales.
This should give you a good idea.

The prices on that list are about what I typically pay for items new right from Gymboree - no way would I pay that for used consignment items! If people can get that for used items, more power to them, but those prices would most definitely not fly where I live. :confused3

I participate in a very large consignment sale twice a year. It seems like most gymbo 2 piece outfits were priced about $7 last fall. This was in size 5. I remember that when dd was younger someone had some adorable gymbo outfits that were multiple pieces - like a swimsuit, grass skirt, headband and shoes were priced $20 and they were left over at the end of the sale. The 2 piece sets priced at $7 all sold very fast.

MrsPooh -
I'm getting ready for my first sale here in Ohio and was thinking those same prices for Gymbo clothes .. wish I could find clothes for $1 like the other posters ....

I agree. However, this is considered to be an "upscale" sale and people do pay this much:confused3. I didn't mention though that most stuff is 50% off on the last day.

I don't shop much at consignment sales, but as a consignor I have made enough for Disney spending money :yay: !

Selling Gymboree for a $1 is absurb! It wouldn't even be worth my time!

Consignment sales generally draw a different crowd than yard sales or thrift shops and they will pay more because if you are only used to shopping in regular retail stores 50% might be considered a deal. We have a large consignment sale nearby 3-4 times a year and we might stop over once on the last day when the stuff is marked down another 50%. So you can price it higher and have a decent chance of getting away with it.

I have tried selling Hugo Boss sweaters and a Ralph Lauren dress at a yard sale for $1 and they sat there all day unsold. Clothes are so common you're lucky to get your dollar. That's why so many get donated, you get a better return on a tax writeoff than selling them.

Do you remember what the gymboree clothes were priced at?

I live in a smaller city with a rather low cost of living. We have a HUGE consignment sale sponsored twice a year. Consignors get 60% of the sale price and mark their stuff WAY more than $1 for Gymboree. I mark Gymboree tshirts for $4 each , and they always sell.
I think you should mark it for more. If it doesn't sell, then you certainly aren't out any money.

It depends on the condition, what line, how old the line is. Lots and lots depend on how much I will spend.

I buy a lot of DDs gymbo clothes at consignment. I don't think they are terribly special or rare, but I do like the quality.

For cotton non knit tops, they are $2-4 each. Knit tops are usually $2. Denim items with embroidery go up to $5. Dresses are $5ish. If you have accessories attached to these items, you can get more.

New items are priced at about 1/3 of the tag price. Like I sold a NWT dress that didn't fit in the right season for $12 and it had a $36 tag on it.

I am also able to pick up pieces at the $1 consignment store tag sale. They aren't this year's patterns but I don't really care. I am looking for is cute, and their knit tops are so soft. I'll buy a piece up to 4 sizes too big and hang on to them.
