Considering "ALL" the moderate resorts...

Our favorite moderate is POR (Mansion buildings), mostly due to the gorgeous landscaping which gives the place a deluxe feel at the moderate price. We have not stayed at any other moderate resort, but we have visited, dined at, and walked the grounds of them all.

We also love PO/R for the above reasons, although we prefer the "Bayou" section. The landscaping of this place is beautiful and my children love the main pool. We get so excited when we check-in here! Plus, once the French Quarter re-opens there will be a lot more available to guests here -- another pool, more restaurants, etc.

I also think Coronado Springs (great pool) and Carribean Beach (color!) are great. Riverside just happens to be my favorite. I love flowers!

Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

We love CSR for many reasons. The Dig Site is a great place to start ... just kick back and relax. Snack on some nachos while trying a margarita. Play some volleyball or visit the arcade. Try the water slide or relax in the hot tub.

The transportation is tremendous. The service is not shared with another resort so it is dedicated to CSR. They no longer have the service to the Boardwalk which was a MAJOR plus but maybe some day it will return.

The Pepper Market has great meals. I love the Wet Burrito. But you can try the different grill stations which include steaks, burgers, rotisserie chicken, baked potatos and french fries, pizza and calzones, pasta kitchen that offers traditional fettuccine/linguine/penne dishes. A sandwich kitchen that has a variety of hot and cold sandwiches. A Bakery/Desert Station that includes bread, sweet rolls and great cookies. A Soup/Salad Kitchen in case you ate too much at the parks. And not to leave out the kids, a Kids Station which includes the old standbys of chicken strips, hot dogs, pasta and pizzas all for $4.25 or $4.50 (very reasonable). You can get creative at the Pepper Market too. You can mix an

The southwestern/Mexican theme. Being form the north, I really like that type of setting. You can choose from 3 different types of buildings, casitas, cabanas or ranchos. All the rooms come with a coffeemaker, iron, hair dryer and iron board.

Other amenities like salons, fitness center, water mice, bikes and so much more.

We've stayed at POFQ & Coronado. Although you can't go wrong with either, Coronado Springs is our overwhelming favorite. They both have good pools, but the grounds at CS were fabulous! Our room was 2nd floor, corner room overlooking the water in Cabanas 8B. We got great service & a free upgrade when we stayed there. The bus service was good too.

Hmmmm.... We haven't stayed in the CSR, but of the others we always
have liked the CBR the best. We've been staying there since only two of the 5
resort areas were open. (early 1989). the food court is still one of the best, and
we love the central siting (and if you have a room that looks north, you can
see Illuminations from the 2nd floor balconies!)
We just liked the feeling of the resort the best, but we tend to like island
decor and stuff like that....

have fun!

:D

Of the moderates, I have stayed at the CBR and the CSR. I like the CSR more because of the theming. While I like the theming of the CBR, the CSR has more variety. I stayed in the Ranchos section at the CSR and I loved it. The main pool at the CSR is great, too. For me, it comes down to theming, and because the CSR has more variety of the two, that would be my first choice. Both have great service and plenty to of things to see and do.

We have stayed at CBR and CSR. we liked both, but CSR seemed more deluxe to us.

Thanks for ALL your responses. I loved those pictures Buzz2001.

Decisions. Decisions. I'm sure ALL of the "moderates" are beautiful and it comes down to ones particular likes and tastes. It's a little harder for me to decide because we have never been to Disney so I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from with where to stay. I don't know why but I seem to be leaning towards the CBR although CSR and Port Orleans Riverside also capture my attention. I guess we might just have to throw the names in a hat and pick one. It's that's close. Anyway's it's a win...win situation right? :)

Rippington's Fan, I was thinking of you this morning when I was reading my new edition of Passporter WDW. They love Riverside, but mention that they have recently stayed at the newly-renovated Carribean Beach and "it's looking great." They mention that the CB has the largest rooms of the Moderates. They also suggest -- because the resort is so spread out -- that you pay for the "preferred location" rooms close to the food court if you can afford the upgrade.

Have fun! And you are sure right -- any trip to WDW is a "win!"

For you CSR fans out there, is it ever offered at an A/P rate? I am interested in trying it, but I can't recall seeing the typical $84 moderate A/P rate for it.

My 2 cents
First choice CBR, Jamaica I love the tropical colors, lake, the peaceful walk over the bridges to OPR. The room size is noticeably different from other moderates, the privacy curtain between bathroom area is nice. As are the multiple storage spaces.
2nd would be POR AB section, love the down south feel and boat ride to DTD. We were so close to the food court and bus stop the last time we were there. I think it was bldg 15.
3rd POFQ, I liked the smallness of the resort and Mardi Gras theming. We stayed during the holidays, so the decorations were very festive and quite different that what I am used to. The pool is great if you have small children.
4th POR Mansions, not sure why I was not real impressed. Our room was furthest from Main Bldg, the pool in our section was not heated, I think it was suppose to be, but was pretty cold. Those factors definately contribute to my feelings about this area, Maybe I should try another stay here.
CSR- Can't rate this, YET. But will try this 2.5.04 for one night stay prior to first WL visit. (4nights)
I do feel that the moderates are perfect, you will enjoy any of them. They are such a great value.

Ok we have made our choice (not that you really care. LOL)

Since we have never been to Disney it's hard to decide by just looking at pictures etc... but this website helps tremendously (as you all know) Anyway's we looked at pictures of all the moderate resorts, read reviews and I have to tell you I didn't really see any bad reviews on any of the moderate resorts. I let my wife make the final choice (good idea right guys?) and it ended up that she picked what I wanted anyway's.

"The Caribbean Beach Resort"

The main reason for choosing that resort over the others is that I think it's just more our style although my wife loved the pictures of the Port Orleans French Quarter Resort also. I think our kids (5,8) will love it at CBR also.

I found a great website for pictures of all the Disney Resorts. Here's the link in case you have not seen this website.

www.allearsnet.com

great pictures of all the disney resorts.

thanks again for all your responses.:)

I really like POFQ. The view from the 3rd floor is beautiful, especially during the evening fireworks at MK. CSR has a great waterslide--a real plus if you've got kids.:bounce:  :bounce:

My wife and I have stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter, Port Orleans Riverside and Caribbean Beach Resorts (in that order).

I enjoyed POFQ the most, as it was a bit smaller and more intimate than the other resorts. I would have to say my second favorite is a tie between the two others. Port Orleans Riverside is a plus in its water taxi service to Downtown Disney and relative isolation from the outside world. Whereas Caribbean Beach has great color and is close to EPCOT (our favorite park). You're not going to go wrong with any of the three. It just depends on your priorities and such.

For you CSR fans out there, is it ever offered at an A/P rate? I am interested in trying it, but I can't recall seeing the typical $84 moderate A/P rate for it.
I used the AP to get the $84.00 rate in the past as well as codes from mousesavers.
