Conservative thread: We're still smiling!

Thanks for the words, everyone. I'm actually feeling a lot better about it, it was just a shock. I have actually talked to a few people who have it worse than I do, so I'm less worried.

Prayers for you, but having been there (and still paying off student loans) you'll get through this. Keep your grades up and get those resumes out as soon as you can. What are you majoring in again (I'm sure you told us, but I don't remember).

No matter what you do, DON'T get yourself hooked on credit cards. I know that's not what you were talking about, but consider it free advice from someone who messed up and should have known better.

So I had the TV for about an hour this morning and I was able to watch Pres. Bush's last press conference. I don't get the TV that often (I have three kids and a husband addicted to sports) so that was very nice.

Off to check out the CB - is it bad today?

Thanks a bunch!! I'm a psychology major, which is the main reason I'm concerned. If it were just these loans, I would not worry, but I will have to deal with grad school when the time comes. I need a masters if I want to work in the field. I'm planning on taking a year off, so hopefully these loans will be gone, but still. I have actually never had a credit card, and don't plan on having one anytime soon. If it's not in my account, I don't spend it. I will get one when I need to buy a house or a car, but for now I'm content without one.

Oh, and I missed Bush's last press conference. For one thing I was in class, but I was also afraid I would be depressed by how he was treated. Bush has not been my favorite president, but he's not a "threat" anymore since he's leaving. He should be treated with some respect. :sad2:

you're doing a great thing going to school. can't really put a price on it. perhaps the new president will excuse those loans for you.

in the mean time, i have found ebay to be a remarkably efficient way to pile up some cash, a little bit at a time. at the very least, it can provide pocket money when there might not be any otherwise. one month, many moons ago, i paid all my utility bills with ebay money, just by selling some junk...maybe it was "junque", but either way, i cleared out some stuff from my parents' house and my own. right now ebay is great for people who need stuff but haven't a ton of money to pay.

(my favorite, but not most lucrative experience, was when i decided to hate my "barbara on broadway" cd. it could be purchased new for about $16, but these two people were crazy enough to start a bidding war, and it sold for over $30...go figure.)

you go get 'em girl!!!

Yeah, the one good thing about Obama is that I might get some relief, but I'm not holding my breath. I actually have tried ebay several times and I like it a lot. The problem is that I'm a pack-rat and love to keep things, so everything I have of value is "un-sellable." Also, I have been averted to selling ever since I got fifty bucks for my Gamecube and four games together. I mean, I know ebay's a risk, but I thought that was a steep loss.

And lobster

SOOOOO CUTE!!!!!! I mean, real lobsters are ugly, so I don't feel bad eating them, but I might have to spare this one.

Also, for a research project, I was thinking of comparing the academic motivation of conservatives, liberals, and moderates in the high school/college setting. It's just an idea right now, but I'll let ya'll know if I go through with it. Those would be interesting results to look at.

Sounds like a good idea!!:thumbsup2

That little lobster looks scared to death, though. Still cute though.:goodvibes

I think babies are cutest when they're scared, at least at trivial things. If they're scared of, say, a lion about to eat them, then it's not as cute. :confused3

i made that mistake once, and ever after the reserve was my friend.

He is about to be eaten. Why do you think he's scared? :lmao:

Okay, someone smack me the next time I venture out onto the CB. I really should know better. I did proffer some self-restraint, though, and closed the thread before I responded.

Alright... done reading that thread now...:rolleyes1
This country is :rotfl2: isn't it?

I understand. My sister was a psyc major and is currently in grad school. You can't do anything with only a BS in that degree. I understand the fear of student loans; I was unable to find work in my field (due to the economy) when I graduated and had a pile of student loans. :scared: It was scary for awhile but it all worked out and everything is paid off.

I agree. I've never been a Bush fan but lately I'm realizing that he's gotten the raw end of the deal for several things. For example, a thread that I was just reading; a lib was praising Clinton for something and smashing Bush but in actuality it had nothing to do with either Clinton or Bush. It really was the result of a fiscal conservative congress under Clinton and an irresponsible Democratic congress under Bush that caused things to play out as they did. Regardless, Clinton will forever hold the praise and Bush will forever hold the blame.

Thanks. Now I just need to cater it to match my Psychological Assessment class.

Okay, off to Piano class!

Bye!!!!!! I'll catch ya later!!:goodvibes

I'm about to head out myself- I need to go to Wal-Mart and look at huge storage containers for my clothes. My cyber lunch was wonderful but I need something tangible as well.....;)

I'll update the TR tonight while I'm listening to Glenn (OMG speaking of which 7 more days!!!!!), I promise.:hippie:

Wal-Mart?! Shame on you, you awful...awful...CONSERVATIVE!
:rotfl2:

I go to our Super WalMart several times a week...we joke that I should just have my DH's paycheck direct deposited there.

I tell ya'...when it's -30 out, and you need to go to the store, I like the 1-stop shopping very much.:thumbsup2

:lmao: There's no other place to go around here!!!

I wish we had a supercenter around here. The closest one is 24 miles round trip.

Oh my gosh, that lobster picture was absolutely adorable.

I would LOVE to read this. How would you do this project? Through surveys? It sounds like a statistical thing.

Would you use only people in your college or would you promote the study elsewhere?

(I'm not kidding - I would love to read this and if you need a proofreader, let me know. I'll dust off the ol' English and History degree just for you).
