Thanks for the words, everyone. I'm actually feeling a lot better about it, it was just a shock. I have actually talked to a few people who have it worse than I do, so I'm less worried.
Prayers for you, but having been there (and still paying off student loans) you'll get through this. Keep your grades up and get those resumes out as soon as you can. What are you majoring in again (I'm sure you told us, but I don't remember).
No matter what you do, DON'T get yourself hooked on credit cards. I know that's not what you were talking about, but consider it free advice from someone who messed up and should have known better.
So I had the TV for about an hour this morning and I was able to watch Pres. Bush's last press conference. I don't get the TV that often (I have three kids and a husband addicted to sports) so that was very nice.
Off to check out the CB - is it bad today?
Thanks a bunch!! I'm a psychology major, which is the main reason I'm concerned. If it were just these loans, I would not worry, but I will have to deal with grad school when the time comes. I need a masters if I want to work in the field. I'm planning on taking a year off, so hopefully these loans will be gone, but still. I have actually never had a credit card, and don't plan on having one anytime soon. If it's not in my account, I don't spend it. I will get one when I need to buy a house or a car, but for now I'm content without one.
Oh, and I missed Bush's last press conference. For one thing I was in class, but I was also afraid I would be depressed by how he was treated. Bush has not been my favorite president, but he's not a "threat" anymore since he's leaving. He should be treated with some respect.

you're doing a great thing going to school. can't really put a price on it. perhaps the new president will excuse those loans for you.
in the mean time, i have found ebay to be a remarkably efficient way to pile up some cash, a little bit at a time. at the very least, it can provide pocket money when there might not be any otherwise. one month, many moons ago, i paid all my utility bills with ebay money, just by selling some junk...maybe it was "junque", but either way, i cleared out some stuff from my parents' house and my own. right now ebay is great for people who need stuff but haven't a ton of money to pay.
(my favorite, but not most lucrative experience, was when i decided to hate my "barbara on broadway" cd. it could be purchased new for about $16, but these two people were crazy enough to start a bidding war, and it sold for over $30...go figure.)
you go get 'em girl!!!
Yeah, the one good thing about Obama is that I might get some relief, but I'm not holding my breath. I actually have tried ebay several times and I like it a lot. The problem is that I'm a pack-rat and love to keep things, so everything I have of value is "un-sellable." Also, I have been averted to selling ever since I got fifty bucks for my Gamecube and four games together. I mean, I know ebay's a risk, but I thought that was a steep loss.
