You can earn points?
LOL! Welcome to the thread and I LOVE your signature!!! Hilarious!

I'm just curious what discussion would have led to that. I usually enjoy your posts LOG...even if I disagree with them, you have just the right amount of sanity and snarkiness all rolled into one. I don't know that I've ever seen you just be outright rude to anyone though. :):flower3:
I agree. I like LOG. I don't speak out in the debate threads (never was a debater), so LOG probably has no clue as to who I am, but his posts don't bother me, even when I disagree with them. I think it's very important to have a healthy debate and "both" sides, but when people get nasty....that's inexcusable.
Yeah, I don't do the reportage thing.........I subscribe to the "old school" playground rules.....as in:

What happens on the playground, stays on the playground.

Tether ball anyone? My points expire tomorrow at 8:07pm!
LOL.

So what happens when you get points? Is it just a slap on the wrist? I know that some people have had their signatures taken away. Do they come back after the points expire?

Exactly what do people get points for anyway?

The DIS is making me sad today. Some of the things I've read just make me wonder about the direction this country is taking. I know there are folks here that are not believers, so I will try not to get too "preachy" but the utter disregard for right and wrong and for morality in general out there is very upsetting. Here's some things I've learned today:

Being a virgin when you marry is something to laugh over and ridicule.

Parents who limit the entertainment content that comes into their children's lives are "nuts"

Children who are subject to restrictions will "go wild" when released from their parent's control

Terrorists who hide behind women and children are right and good, a country that defends it's citizens against random attacks is evil.

Have I missed anything???

I don't know. :sad2: The abstinence thing is very apparent. I was actually thinking about putting an "Abstinence Pride" banner on my sig, but certain post made me fearful to do so.

That's because they lump all Pro-Life people as Christians and we all know what they think of Christians! All religions EXCEPT Christianity are to be defended, Christianity, it's beliefs and especially it's followers are subjects of ridicule.

It would shock some of those folks to know that there are Pro Life people that belong to other faiths, or no faith at all!

Yeah, I have to agree with that. There are plenty of pro-life people of other faiths, as well as some pro-choice Christians. I can see both points of view, to a point. Shouting "save the terrorists" or "save the animals" along with "kill the children" in the same vein has never made any sense to me. I'm glad some people other than Christians are starting to get that.

Okay, about Ann Coulter.

Sorry guys (and gals), I just don't like her. I can read her books, but her voice grates on my nerves. Plus, I don't like how she flips her hair around when she's trying to make a point. She doesn't seem sincere.

Can I still be in the club? I really like Bobby Jindal and SP, even though she hates animals.

I don't like Ann Coulter either, along with Sean Hannity. I have a problem with people who tow the party line no matter what, and refuse to see the other point of view. When conservatives do it, I cringe, because it only makes us look bad. We can still express our "rightness" without carrying a bludgeon.

Welllll....some of us get points for quoting a pic of a kitty doing something other than eating a little "bird"ie. KWIM jellybean? :rotfl:

I wouldn't suggest getting points in this manner, or they may be your last. :headache: ;) I think the mods were in a good mood that day as my "life" was spared.

Yeah, that might not be a good idea. I got flamed like you wouldn't believe for the Glenn Beck pictures in my signature, so I can't even imagine what a certain group of individuals would do to you if they saw an "Abstinence Pride" banner in your signature. It wouldn't be pretty, I'd be willing to bet.

So how is everyone today?:flower3:

I've been meaning to tell you that I love the Disney quote in your signature! He really does capture the feeling that many of us have when we walk through that tunnel and see Main Street!

I haven't put anything in my signature because the things I would want to put there would probably be considered "offensive" to some.

Eh, they are pretty predictable. If such a poster disagreed with them, they'd say that person was just being grumpy because they weren't engaging in such activities.

There is a website that is a support group for atheistic/agnostic prolifers, interesting stuff.

I am amazed that I haven't gotten points, and even more amazed I haven't reported anybody. Though I tend to keep on a pretty decent side with the OS. Even in anonymity on the interwebs I really hate offending people. Though even I have my stretching limit.

Yeah. :sad1: I actually have a T-shirt that says "Abstinence Pride" on the front with an AIDS ribbon, and "Break the Stigma" on the back. It's actually refering to an African program that tries to use abstinence as a way to stop the AIDS epidemic. This program is very large in Uganda, and Uganda is one of the few countries where the number of AIDS cases is actually going down. Coincidence? I think not. In Africa, abstinence is needed for the survival of the country.

However, I cannot proclaim all of the wonderful things programs like this are doing (as well as what abstinence is doing in my own life). I would then be told I am "pushing my beliefs" or "acting naive." Also, I feel that if I did advertise my abstinence, it would be assumed it is because my autism prevents my from having a relationship (I'm not willing to keep it a secret). It's not true, but that's what people have said to me. I have dated people, and there was the opportunity, but I never took it.

So, in short, yes, I agree with you. I don't want to, and it's sad, but I agree. Once you get me started on this, it's hard for me not to write an essay.

Also, I'm doing great, how are you?

I know!! Holy cow, it is the best example of cognitive dissonance, I don't know what is. People just don't want to believe that it is possible to have self control.

You sound exactly like me. My abstinence is a HUGE part of my life and also my faith, and I hate it when people treat me like I'm doing something wrong for choosing to be abstinent. :sad2:

I just dropped $330 on textbooks- but that's no problem, my scholarship paid for it.:thumbsup2 Ugh...... and I feel a headache coming on.:headache:

Question: Do people who claim to care for ALL human rights include the rights of the unborn?? I really don't have patience for hypocrites.

Haven't you heard? They aren't hypocrites. They don't believe the unborn are human....therefore, they deserve no rights.

I have heard of that program in Uganda and completely agree with it. It does seem to be the only thing that's working.

My SIL is 27 and is a virgin. I commend her for it; it's not easy! She's bipolar and also doesn't really date. Not because of the bipolar but because she's picky. She's had "opportunity" and hasn't taken it. I applaud both of you.

You got points for that??:confused3 Nothing wrong with that pic to me.... if it was GWB's face instead of Obama's it would've been ok, I'd be willing to bet.

That sounds very interesting. I've been avoiding athiest websites ever since my intellectual side has launched a full scale attack on my spiritual side (my intellectual side probably has the devil backing it up), but I would like to check that out.

I'm glad we're on the same side about being decent. I'm not a huge attention grabber, so I think being mean is just pointless. Besides, I think it annoys the other side more when I'm respectful.

I'll be praying for you that your "intellectual" side backs off. :goodvibes There was once I wondered if God existed but I've had too many spiritual experiences (and no, I don't take drugs or drink, thankyouverymuch) to deny His existence.

Same with me.:thumbsup2 I went through a time about five years ago when I really doubted God's existance.... but He showed me He was there in a big way and ever since then I have never even questioned the existance of God.:goodvibes

::yes:: DH just recently had a huge one....spiritual experience that is. ;)

it is a parody, which is not allowed, although you can only find that information in a thread and not in the site guidelines.

It's always nice to hear of other folks who are staying pure! Bravo!! I actually have not dated anyone in a few years, but I'm not in a hurry. There is a few things I need to overcome before I can get in another relationship.

Also, if anyone wants to hear more about abstinence efforts in Africa, try watching Dear Francis. It's very jarring, but very hopeful for the future of Swaziland.
